Greetings from an old woman in western WA state. I've been told I have ancestors from Ireland(McClannahan) and was sorry not to have been able to see your beautiful country the almost dozen years I lived in Switzerland many many years ago. The little haunted cottage sounds quaint and homey and everything I envision Irish! My heart is so pleased just to hear a word from the far-off land of my origin. God Bless and pardon my intrusion.👵🌲💖🐕🌹🍀😊

My sweet mama met daddy at 13. Got married and had 3rd baby by 17. Pregnant with her 5th at 19. Raised 7 girls and 6 boys. Worked harder than any mule. We didn't waste. Even cooked the apple peelings down, put them through a colander and made apple butter. Just keeping us bathed and to wash our clothes was a full time job. But she picked blackberries, took care of the chickens and pigs...sold eggs. Anything it took to raise her kids. Even got a job in the shirt factory. Prayed almost non stop. She's in heaven now.

When I was a teenager living in MA, I dreamed of moving to the Appalachia's, find a small town and learn from everyone there how to live off the land. My mom never liked to cook and I wanted to learn how to do everything from scratch. That dream was back in the 70's and I'm now in my 50's. Your videos just made my dream come true! I love watching you both. What a great blessing you both have become! So many people don't know these simple things and your how-to videos far surpass any book I could get at a library! Now Folks Folks Folks when you watch and listen to these two Wonderful people and you don’t want it to end, you know you’ve found something sooo Special for your days and life. Pears, when I was a little girl my family lived by a old man who would pick pears, peel ‘em, cut ‘em up and put ‘em in a big old pot on the stove with sugar. I would go over and visit and he would make me a bowl of those hot pears and toast. There was nothing any better. This takes me back to those times, thank-you. You both are looking better, just take is at easy as you can. I knew you would be fine. Grace and Faith walk hand in hand and then Danny and Lori walk the same. Y’all got double the Blessings. Love hearing you reminiscing. When I’m cutting fruit or vegetables that have to be measured, whether it be by quart or cup or whatever , I know I’m easily distracted and lose count of my filled measured units, so for every time I dump a filled one into a larger container, I place one little piece of whatever fruit or vegetable I’m cutting on the counter to keep a count of how many units I’ve cut.

Marlene Sistrunk I've participated in a chivaree. We made the groom push his bride in a wheelbarrow around the town square as part of it. When my husband and I were married 41 years ago I was 18 and he was 23. We told everybody we were going out of town and hid our car in a neighbor's garage. Then we snuck back home. Nobody caught us and we never turned a light on. Nobody found us. :)

Chivaree (also Charivari) is a word I did NOT know when my husband's brothers came over banging on our little mobile home late one night after we got home from our brief little three day honeymoon! It was purely them being aggravating...I don't think we knew there was a word for it... but I reckon, after hearing this, I was lucky it was just a racket and nobody got kidnapped! 😂 I guess it comes as no surprise that this bunch took me snipe huntin' too! 😉🤭🐦 🤣

Snipe hunting runs through the United States. Here in Washington when I was growing up we would beg to go snipe hunting. Our parents were in on the prank and it made you feel like a fool but it was all good fun. We had shiverres but it would be the entire neighborhood and they would bang pots and pans sing songs and then they would break out the food and the best wishes for the new bride and groom. I love that you share stories like you have...makes me recall the memories of the past. God bless you both.

I love it when you all talk about your youth and growing up together in the hills. Your right this world is totally different now. The young folks that get married the first hardship they have, they want to quit and get divorced. My hubby and I have been married going on 44 years. It was not always peaches and cream. But we fault through the rough times and are still making it work. I wish I had one of those pears you are peeling. They look so good. No trees around me.(pear) We usually buy a bushel of fruit off of a farmer in Roan County, but I haven't heard from him this year. I am glad to see you two better with your sickness. Summer and fall are the worst times to get sick. Sticks with you and very hard to shake. Better get busy here and make some dinner, God Bless you two!

I guess this video was done two years ago and I’m just now seeing it but I can’t tell you how comforting it was to be able to sit down and rest after canning and dehydrating, to just sit peaceably with my cup of tea and listen to you and Mr. Brown just having a conversation tell stories it was wonderful. Thank you so much for doing this video. I had just finished watching you do blueberry and peach preserves. They are next on my list of things to do. Well right after my tomatoes that is.

EVERY time I think I have seen my favorite video by you...WRONG! THIS IS IT! I have watched it twice, because I love true stories of life and 💘 love! The two of you are so perfect together, sharing memories and talking and peeling and working together. America needs you folks on TV, as this is so much better! I watch and laugh and am touched by your relationship and I learn so much in the kitchen also! THANK YOU FOR THE BLESSING of you both! Your chit chat, humor, kindness, love and know how make our day! Mister and Mrs B, I too was taken on a SNIPE hunt as a girl!!! It sure ruffled my old country girl feathers! Ha! BLESSINGS AND A SMILE!😄

OMGosh!!! Thank you, thank you and THANK YOU!!! :-) I haven't laughed so hard in such a LONG time, and I feel I truly needed it. That first few seconds, and then him giving you that "WHAT!" look, same as I use to get from my late old cat, Winston. I use to just LOVE watching him 'do his thing', no matter what it was, and for some reason, he just hated it more than anything else. If I watched him for too long, he would literally go to 'Mommy' and complain to her about it, and next thing I would hear, "Honey, please stop bugging Winston. He's aggravating me about it again! I'm trying to work here!!!" Gosh, I really miss them both. Good memories, good times and good people like y'all make it all worthwhile for this lonely "Old-fart". Thank you.

Anne Ramirez Sissy passed away back in 2004. The really ironic or sad thing is that it was on her birthday, and that's sort of a hard day for me. But like the old sage will say, time does help to heal wounds. Anne, thank you for sharing. "Old-fart" here really appreciates it, Hun.

I have been watching you now (on our smart tv under my husbands subscription) for about 3 months. You two are such special and kind and interesting, precious people. Thank you for all you share and teach. My husband is from Houston Tx and married me 37 years ago. I am from Wisconsin and he and I moved back here to Wisconsin 33 years ago. He loves the seasons here and is now an avid Packer fan but really misses the southern food and attitude you two provide. I love the warmth and common sense knowledge you share....keep it up!...By the way Mr. Brown, my last two babies were born on Oct 31st...they are now ,well tomorrow, 28 and 29 years old. There has been a constant rivalry there as Austin, my son, not only stole his big sisters birthday but also is other siblings trick or treat!! Happy Birthday Mr Brown...and thank you dear Lori for your precious posts and sweet spirit....God bless and continue to heal you all!

Thank the Lord for folks like you two. The chivalry story was awesome! I love the simplicity of your recipe for making pear preserves. I would help my Granny make preserves when I was a child. Over my 71 years I have forgotten a lot of the good old days, but after watching you all's video it's starting to come back a little at a time. I am going to try the pear butter next. Thanks again. frj
