Fried pies are so good and my mother-in-law loved to make them for my husband who was the apple of her eye. During one visit to her home, I was on a much needed diet. She had a stack of fried pies and I reached for one. My husband asked if I was really going to eat it. I assured him that I was and I might eat two. I reminded him that she was 84-years old and this could be the last batch she cooked. He understood what I meant when shortly afterwards she fell and broke her hip.

Get well soon Mrs. Lori! It’s no fun being sick. I am a disabled RN and live with chronic pain.I once was a cooker, baker and crafter, a mother of 3 grandma of 3 and a wife. I’m now a widow of 2 yrs but blessed with my kids and grands. Due to their jobs we don’t see each other often but talk daily. I have God in my life and he holds me up when I’m down. Sorry you are sick Miss Lori! I work with children and what has helped me incredibly is using supplements. During the cold and flu season I use oregano oil capsules 2xday, 3,000 mg of vitamin C, vitamin D3 and now I use quercetin and zinc to boost my immune system! I hope you will be feeling better Mrs. Lorri real soon. Watching your video of the last year brought so many of my own memories back of being at my dear grandma's. I was the first born grandchild and born on her birthday. I was named after her Mama. I spent many days and nights with her and my Papa. She died in her mid 50's. She and Papa worked in the cotton mills by day and had a big garden on the land that they built the first house that they owned. My Mom and Daddy bought the house several years after Grandma passed. I lived in the house until I married. My husband of 50 years passed 3 months ago. Me and my daughter live in that house now. We are the 3rd and 4th generation to live here. I'm still mourning my husband's death but I'm getting a little better each day. This house and it's memories are comforting this 72 year old who still can picture my precious Grandma and Papa and all the vegetables they planted. Thanks for listening to a skinny little girl's memories in the body of a white haired thankful woman. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

I have to tell you a little story. I was very ill after a catastrophic medical crisis and spend a couple months with my family in Colorado. One night my granddaughter was howling in the bedroom next to mine. I knew her parents were very tired so I tiptoed in to her bedroom and brought her in bed with Grammie. Not having much in the way of good entertainment for her, my number one goal was to get her quieted down a little bit so she didn’t wake up the entire house. I put on one of your videos. It was one that you gave a tour around the farm, the chickens, ducks, and the greenhouse. She settled down finally and became so happy. She kept scrolling back to the chickens and ducks to take a look again and again. I did a running narrative saying that’s Miss Lori and Mr. Brown and they live in Arkansas. She eventually drifted off to sleep. My son came in in the morning and said how in the world did Elizabeth end up in bed with you. I said that would be a very long story, but I got her back to sleep watching Whippoorwill Holler. I sent you a check for $120 for eight cookbooks. I’m going to send a cookbook to each of those family members including Elizabeth’s mother. Maybe she will remember when she sees the name on your cookbook. God bless and Merry Christmas.
