Great video! Tip, if you are checking for continuity, check ALL possible related parts to this problem. I started with the thermal fuse and it was blown. I decided to keep checking and found that I was not having continuity in the heating element either. I took it out to inspect and found one of the rods had split (cut) which shorted it out. If I had not continued checking, I would have wasted more time and possible additional shipping cost if I had just ordered the thermal fuse only. Bottom line, since you're there, check everything! Good Luck!

I put in new coils, new thermal fuse and no change. Finally cleaned the heat sensor strips with some scotchbritepad. Even though they appeared quite clean and shiny, they must have been glazed over with something. After scrubbing them the clothes now come out dry. I say try the sensors first because its easy and cheap. Perhaps second if airflow out the duct is suspect.

Hi there! So first and foremost I have to tell you that yours is the best of MANY videos I've watched regarding my dryer. You're awesome! Now... my frustration (and forgive me because I'm about to be "that" girl) is that I can't get my back panel off! I've unscrewed everything you can and it comes loose on the top just fine, it's just stuck at the bottom. I think it's being impeded by a little black brackety thing down by the vent hose? Cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to get it to let go. HELP?!?!
@DIYwithMichaelBorders
@DIYwithMichaelBorders Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching, we appreciate you sharing this. These panels can be stubborn at times. Some units will have miscellaneous aluminum plates that are secured on by screws. Behind these plates are additional screws that will need to be removed. Can you easily remove black bracket? This may also free up panel to be removed. Please keep us posted.

I cleaned my dryer vent and back of the dryer and my heat came back on but 24 hours later the heat went off again. Any idea what this could mean?
@DIYwithMichaelBorders
@DIYwithMichaelBorders Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching…that’s odd. Did you notice any electrical wiring that may have been moved while you were cleaning your dryer vent? It’s possible that you have a loose electrical connection and while you were cleaning vent, it may have moved ever-so-slightly and created electrical current…leading to parts that create heat working again.

Does replacing the coils allow the gas to turn on or just light the wick cus doesnt seem like gas is passing thru ???
@DIYwithMichaelBorders
@DIYwithMichaelBorders 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching & the coils play a huge role in the lighting process. Replacing coils will get you back up & running. If that doesn’t do it, you will need to replace the thermostat. Believe it or not though, most people replace the thermostat along with the coils because you already have the system apart and the thermostat is a very friendly priced part.

Something odd about my two coils. You show your 3 wire connector on the front and the two wire connector on the back rod. On mine, it's reversed. My 3 wire is on the back rod and the two wire coil on the front. Never been opened up before. Wonder if it makes any difference? My 2 wire coil is bad. No continuity on that one. The other is fine.
