The Big Burn at Snowmass is one of the best selections of amazing groomed runs in all of Colorado and I'm always excited to see Whispering Jesse on the morning grooming report. If there isn't a foot of fresh powder somewhere else I could easily be, then I want to be at Snowmass ripping their amazing groomers. Whispering Jesse is near perfect with a first section that lets you get a rhythm as you head down the lift line and out in to the Big Burn proper. This second section opens wide with countless lines to choose from through the handful of trees and a perfect pitch. The Big Burn is straight giggle-worthy right up to 8 inches or so before you really should be heading for steeper terrain. But on a groomer day, you can let loose and just carve some amazing turns down this wide open face. The final section gets significantly steeper and splits off in to distinct runs. On the far right, between the Big Burn lift and Garrett Gulch, Whispering Jesse cuts a straight and smooth line where you can really get cranking. There are one or two small rollers you need to be aware of, but other than that you can feel pretty confident about your turns when the corduroy is fresh.
