I completely agree with daltos. If the other 3 are just going to sit there doing fuck all and let lewis run away with it, why should he stress about it?

This episode highlights the key fact that almost nobody is ever fully ready for war. But oftentimes you don’t get to pick when to war, sometimes you just have to go, ready or not. How well you can pivot from making butter to making guns is a real mark of how good of a civ player you are. Also fun to see messaging zoom in as a desperate alliance tries to form. Kirsty’s early lead is a distant memory at this point. Her only hope, really, is the success of the gigalliance and her coming out on top afterwards. Which means for Daltos to get the brunt of Lewis’s future nuclear arsenal. Despite looking nice her airship is actually a pretty handy unit as it can see quite a far distance and if you place them on top of a mountain they let you observe a good distance around them. This is very handy if you are worried your neighbor might decide to attack you or you’re plotting to attack them. Rythian is quietly making a comeback. If only he had done it about 30 or so turns earlier he would have been in real contention at the end of the game. His empire is the classic example of scaling too late and if the game had just one more era of techs he might actually have a chance of victory. I always found it ironic that LEKMOD lets you skip biology so you can unlock plastics before you have the ability to pump the oil out of the ground to make it. In fact all the units that use oil early can be unlocked before figuring out how to pump that black stuff out of the ground. (In competitive LEKMOD games it’s forbidden to trade oil to someone before they research biology because of this.) I was surprised to see him join the gigalliance, figuring he’s just accepted he won’t win this game and his TONS OF UNITS are clearly going to make a huge impact in the war. As for his question, the game does in fact have classifications of the units and it is listed in their civilopedia entry. On land there are ranged, melee, mounted, siege, gunpowder, and armored units. Gunpowder and armored are basically the late game versions of melee and mounted units. Marines are squarely in the gunpowder unit type. Rythian is gleaning a bit out of the game pointing out there are different unit types and different units that get different benefits against each making a sort of rock, paper, scissors type system. Duncan complained the whole game about the threat of Lewis then when someone actually does something about it the Tibetan army is conveniently not ready and has to be goaded into action. For most of this game Duncan has just been… here. His only impact continues to be his ability to pray units into existence which he finds out this episode doesn’t work on aircraft (nor does it work on boats). He could have, he SHOULD have joined in the war when Daltos started it the first time. Their combined force probably could have overwhelmed Lewis back when he was still catching up in technology instead of blasting head on technology. Now it’s probably too little too late but I give him credit for at least contesting Lewis’s victory instead of just rolling over and accepting his fate. Lewis managed to successfully defend against a lone autocracy attack. It helps a lot that everyone waited too long and let him get ahead in technology. His naval supremacy turned out to be pretty useless against Daltos as he found out that battleships are pretty weak against bombs from the sky. And then the giga alliance finally, way too late, finally forms against him. Can Lewis fend off attacks from four directions at once? Will there even be meaningful attacks from the four different directions? Guess we’ll find out next episode but I think this game is his to lose at this point. Daltos has at this point fully fallen behind Lewis’s technology. His production pales in comparison, and he’s desperately trying to get others to join him in his campaign against Lewis. It’s just that, unfortunately, the other players are Rythian, Duncan, and Kirsty who have done little in terms of preparing to actually stop Lewis. I was shocked an alliance actually formed (thanks to Duncan of all people) but I think it came about because he threatened to invade Duncan if the world didn't unite. Despite the extra participants he’s still Lewis’s primary threat and will likely take the brunt of Lewis’s attention. Which means even if somehow the gigalliance comes out on top it’s likely he will come out of the war the worst.

The Rare giga Alliance is finally seen again, amazing

Duncan has set his City focus for Great Person Focus but then he's set his Specialist builings to "Manual Specialist Control". If he actually had his pops working rather than being assigned he could easily get another 200 science per turn

Always been a lewis supporter, but these last few games have had me rooting for Daltos ! Man has come so far ! Cant wait for the day he takes home the win

Lewis not rushing nukes is hurting me

Lewis is going to have his eyes opened to the power of doubling the cities everyone usually gets in these games. It takes a bit longer to get them online but if you dont get punished by the others he will outtech the field each and everytime when they all come online.

Feels like we haven’t had a classic Lew-lew runaway train in a while, feels good to go back to the old ways every once in a while 😊

This Episode is a good example of why limiting yourself to only 4 cities is dumb. Lewis is so far ahead BECAUSE he has almost twice as many cities as anybody else has. Bigger is almost always better in 4X strategy games

Big up Daltos for wrangling everyone into the giga alliance, and tbf everyone pretty quickly getting on board after the sciencee reveal

Daltos always knew what needed to be done. The others should have known that to be complacent was to be complicit. I don't usually enjoy the Civ stuff, but this one is turning out to be a classic.

Lewis' gold plummeting after loosing all those trade routes after everyone declared on him is great. He wont be able to upgrade very many troops if this keeps up for long, no matter how high his science is.

As someone who always likes to play wide in these games, it's crazy to me that Rythian just never settled a 4th city when he had that perfect natural spot right next to his capital for the longest time. And what do you know? It ends up having a bunch of uranium as well lol.

Lewis can probably knock Rythian and Kirsty out of the war by nuking them and sue for peace. Then he can focus his attention on Daltos and Duncan.

These newer civ series tend to go the same way with the same people and I believe there needs to be an addition to the cast. Maybe invite Hat Films or Ben, Tom, and Pyrion to come back? From what I see, Kirsty is the newer of the bunch and will likely always be peaceful and just... there. Rythian is king passive and peace. Duncan kinda just likes to be there and isn't very good as he used to be. Daltos I would wager is better than Duncan now and understands what must be done to win but cannot do it on his own or fumbles from his own ambitions. and Lewis... Lewis is just too good for all of them and genuinely KNOWS what he is doing and how to counter the others. The only way for Lewis to lose these days is if the entire cast actively works against him throughout the game instead of giving him what he wants.
