The White-breasted Nuthatch is charming backyard bird that can be seen doing all sorts of goofy things: from striking the characteristic "Nuthatch" pose, to hanging upside-down, or bobbing up and down a tree, they're always fun watch.

I love these little dudes. At my parents house they jammed sunflower seeds from our feeders into the windows! When we opened them up in the springtime, there were little piles in the corners!

The White-breasted nuthatch is what got me into backyard birding. Thanks to them I’ve gone beyond the backyard in order to find more beautiful birds. I enjoy your videos!

I have one that visits my feeder. He darts around like a little ninja, and sometimes makes very insistent calls. So cute!

My second favorite bird after blue jays! White breasted nuthatches are so adorable and funny! Thank you for making this video on them, as it was a real joy to watch. And I learned something new- that the females have slightly lighter caps. Thank you!👍🙂👍

I still remember the first time encountering one of these cute, fun birds at Tall Timbers just outside of Tallahassee. I've not seen the pygmy nuthatch yet, but I adore the species overall.

We have White-breasted Nuthatches coming to our feeders all year round. They tend to be fairly bold and often threaten other birds with a spread wing display, "I'm bigger than your are".

Very cool birds. There is a large oak outside my home office window and I get to watch them all spring / summer long. One of my favorite sights.

One of my favorites. I always described their call as a mangled bike horn 😉 We have a pair that are quite friendly & will wait at the feeder or suet cage to get the freshest refill. Truly fun birds to watch & aren’t as skittish as our juncos & chickadees

I just watched a few flatten themselves to my deck rail, sticking their butt's in the air with all their feathers fluffed up. Looked like a bird's version of downward dog pose. 😂

I'm working on my folks house. There are a bunch of woodpecker holes in the old wood siding and these little guys have moved in. We're going to redo the siding, so I have to evict these guys. I'm going to wait until this winter to see if they move along. At the very least their young will be gone. I hunt and fish, but evicting an animal after it's spent all that energy building a nest hits different. I'll have to put out some easy food and good building materials if they're still here in the winter. I also, now I see what you birdwatchers love so much. I may have picked up another outdoor hobby.

They are quick to tame & they LOVE peanuts There are a couple here that will eagerly take a peanut (or pecan or walnut) from your fingers. It's really fun to hand feed them like the squirrels.

Within a 4 miles radius of my house there is one every 3 years. Within a 5 miles radius they are common and abundant. They are SO closely tied to oaks in the west it's crazy.

I'm new to birding, and had never seen these birds before this past week, despite being in an area where they're very common. I had a bit of childlike awe watching one of them make soft little calls while foraging on a tree at a local park. Now that I know what to look for, I saw a pair of them at a different park today, so I'll have to keep an eye out in case they're mates, and living in or around that tree!

I have a white breasted nuthatch that I can walk up to where I am to the point I can reach out and touch the little guy, and he just hops around the bird feeder and looks at me. The nuthatches love the pecan trees in our yard they just hop up on a pecan and start hammering away.

I currently have a female nesting in a birdhouse outside my window. Here's the surprising part.. there are TWO males feeding her!!!! I've seen both perched near the house, both with food, one goes in, come out, then the second one does the same! I know you said they are monogamous so I'm curious if this has been documented before??
