White City the movie, Part 1

Pete Townshend's White City the movie.
Just like with the Deep End concert - no DVD, just second hand VHS or (rare and expensive) Laserdiscs.
This video is recorded from a Laserdiscs, which should be the highest quality source available. It is a Japanese LD (and I'm not quite sure if there is anything like an American or European version), so it contains Japanese subtitles, which are directly in the video, thus they can't be easily removed. Sorry for that :)

Still think the White City album has to be Pete's great underrated masterpiece. Every song is a gem.

This is definitely one Pete's masterpieces and I think there is something very personal about the story and music. He captures the essence of 80's Britain perfectly. I think Pete is a genius..

I love the opening to Give Blood on the movie version of the song. All that strumming was left off the album.

Good album, White City; the songs & musicians involved-especially Dave Gilmour & Simon Phillips. Nice to see a ‘live in studio’ performance of Pete singing Give Blood for the film & playing that special Gretsch 6120, famously used on the Who’s Next album. Glad he still has it. 🤍🤍🤍✨👀

Just bought this album at a record trading show. Recognized some some songs. Gentleman told me there was a video that was made my Pete for this album. So here I am. Enjoyed it. Thanks for taking the time to preserve this masterpiece. Now that I have watched this, the album with be much more worth listening to. YOU ROCK!!!

Thank you. Listening to Pete's audiobook of "Who I Am." He mentions that "White City" was inspired by his viewing of Prince's "Purple Rain." Intriguing enough to search for the video. Thankfully, it was on KZfaq. What a glorious age we live in.

I see you also put up "Love on the Air" live from the Deep End concert. You are correct; Deep End Rocks. I saw the concert when it was played on Showtime(?) movie channel. I got so wrapped up in Deep End and Chinese Eyes back in the 80's. I still have this movie and the concert on VHS as well. Thanks!! You rock the most!!
