Tamil is the mother of all Indian languages.. older than Sanskrit but still very widely spoken in Tamil Nadu state. Literally the language is like a time capsule.. its is like raw gold which can be beautifully woven into any ornament - old or new fashioned. I am a malayali and I love tamil equally to mh mother tongue (which is derived from tamil, of course). With beautiful poets, lyricists and composers, the beauty of this language is made known at world platforms

It is not that ilayaraja has given you chance, it is god that has given you your wish. Continue with your innovation man. We all love u man.

this is not an ordinary song. its a roller coaster ride. if you are an early 90's kids and you are here in 2022 listening this again. it will definitely bring you back to 2002. i would give anything to go back to a simple rainy evening in 2002 with family, sibling and friends. We had nothing back then but we was happy and now we have everything we wanted yet still feels lonely.

Excellent wonderful rendition by our great Oscar winner Rahman.India should be proud to have this great son. Above all the song being dedicated to the Ceylon Indians cause is another feather to the cap. Yet the video with the painting kids made me sulk .The video could have depicted the plight of the Indian kids in Sri Lanka instead of showing obviously rich family kids playing around. At the end of the day everything is commercialised.

Glad you know this. But perhaps a lot of people here are not aware of the nuances of Indian musical traditions. A lot of people (I count myself as one), have no idea about raaga or taala but this doesn't stop me from enjoying music that I like in any tradition...Indian or Western.
