As a male of the Caucasian persuasion I can vouch for this experience. My best friend we grew up knowing each other from school invited me over for a cookout one day. I'm a big guy and I can eat. I can tell you by the end of the first plate I had the meat sweats from all that good food. But i pushed on and had atleast another plate and a half of food then dessert. The sides, the desserts, the drinks, the music, and most of all the company was fantastic. Not one single person looked at me differently or said anything about me being there. I was welcome with open arms and I was invited again and I asked what to bring and Nana Fran said "Just bring that appetite". I also invited them to my cookouts so they can show my family how to cook lmai

One time I donated a bunch of baby stuff to a "black church" on the street I lived on. They were cooking and MADE me get a plate to take back with me since I couldn't stay. I found out "a plate" is like 3-4 plates full of the meat, vegetables and stuff. Then you get a plate or two full of dessert. I ate off that food for nearly a week and it was the best damn food I ever ate. Everyone was so nice.

I'm tired of crying and feeling abandoned-this video is a blessing to know that there are still families that come together-mine never will-they are in their own world-could care less about the mother who birthed them, raised them, and it hurts me so bad. I am gld he got the experience he did-but what I heard were about a large family cookout-didnt matter to me they were not white- i just wish people would help others that on an emotional level feel a part of acceptance and love. Once a month in my town there is a big cookout like this where all the black families show up and pretty much take over an intersection of two streets. You can't get through there in a vehicle, so you have to go around. One day I got a flat tire right by that intersection and some folks at the cookout saw me. They came over and asked if I needed help. When we were done, I offered them some cash for helping me out. They said, man we don't need your money, just trying to help a brother out but what you could do is come over and hang with us at the cookout. This video captures to a T how it went the first time I attended. I've now been to 7 or 8 of these and like this guy said, there is occasionally some scary shit that goes down. You just got to hold your own and do your best to work around the fact that you stick out like a sore thumb. Some of the coolest folks I've ever hung out with and damn right some of the best cooking I've ever had. I even donated my green egg smoker to the cause cuz they didn't have enough grill space. We can all come together if we just try. Racism is perpetuated by those too afraid to try and see the other side. Break bread, throw bones, toss cornhole, drink a beer, but avoid the spades table at all costs because, let's face it, shit gets real there sometimes.

I'm a 57 year old white woman. I've never been to a black cookout, but my husband and I did go to an all black memorial service for a dear friend who passed from cancer just over a year ago, where about 60 members of her extended family were there. Besides the tablecloths and napkins, we were the only white things there, too....LOL We were sat front & center at the table of honor with her immediate family when we arrived, and they asked me to give a speech during the service. We were treated like family and told that we are a part of their family now. We spent the last 2 weeks of her life getting to know Brenda's family during her hospice, and we were her doggy god-parents, caring for her pup while she was in and out of the hospital over the last year, and now have the gift of her goofy little poodle as a daily reminder of her sweet soul. Her family all lived out of state and she hid her illness from them until the very end. She was a former neighbor, and we always watched out for her, making sure she had food, running errands, taking her to appointments, etc. I could probably do a video myself, though....it's amazing how people are basically all the same, but cultures and traditions can be so different! Zach is absolutely correct, though...her family are some of the best people we've ever met and we stay in touch with her brothers & sisters on a regular basis. If we're ever invited to one of their cookouts, you can bet we're going! It's a shame that the media and politics has so many thinking that things are much worse than they are when it comes to race relations. We're all the same. God bless you for helping bring people together with your videos!

Sometimes media has nothing to do with it. the struggle African Americans go through on a daily basis is just upsetting. I know some really close friends of mine who've been treated like trash because of their culture. Imagine being pulled over not knowing if you're gonna make it home to your children. Man, this got me crying for two reasons. Number one,its just so funny as hell, cause you can just feel him! Number two, nostalgia Hit me like a sledghammer!!! I'm a white male from Germany, my only real fatherfigure is a black soldier who married my mom when i was about 6. Love you dad!!! We moved to the states and i lived there on and off for a couple of years. Junior High to Highschool. My whole "new" family was black, and they where the nicest loving people i have ever met in my life, they took me in as if i was of the same blood!! Those cookouts where awesome! I miss you all so damn much!!! Lots of love from Germany!!!

This guy is Zach Rushing from the Mississippi gulf coast. He owns a company called 3b and they do loads of charity work for military and the handicapped. He’s a great guy, huge heart and has even cried on camera for these people.

My most memorable moment as a white man at my homeboys cookout. His 80 year old great auntie rolled the blunt and smoked with us. My mind was blown and not from the gas😂

I’m white and my best friend is black and I go to all his cookouts and his family members birthday parties and everything this dude said is true. 😂 I’ve gone to so many at this point to where I don’t pay it any mind anymore but the first one I went to was scary asf because I didn’t wanna piss anyone off. Now everyone there knows me and I am comfortable and his uncle tells me I’m black on the inside which is a great thing to hear and is very comforting at a black cookout 😂

If I may supply some black music from a white voice, Brother Ali put it this way in a rap: "Something spiritual happen when them hands get to clappin Can you tell me, what language do you laugh in? The human reaction of smiles and cries What language are the tears when they're fallin from your eyes? You've probably seen the sunrise hundreds of times But let a painter paint it or a poet describe The very moment where heaven and Earth might collide And God let the breath of life come outside Uh, Satan doubted it, angels bowed to it I'm so beautifully human and I'm proud of it"
