White Pocket, Arizona

As an alternative to The Wave while visiting Kanab, Utah, we braved the deep sandy roads to get to White Pocket, an impressive display of swirling, colorful rock formations in Vermilion Cliffs National Monument. The hike is short but we spent over five hours exploring and enjoying this beautiful area.

Tough to get to but worth it...one of those places you have to see to believe how beautiful it is!

Don't just enter the lottery for the Wave. You should try to make it to Cottonwood Cove in the South Coyote Buttes before that lottery becomes too difficult as well. We've been to all these areas multiple times and I rate them as follows. (1) The Wave/North Coyote Buttes, (2) Cottonwood Cove/South Coyote Buttes, (3) The North Teepees, (3) White Pocket.

Exactly! Every time we visit the area we have our hearts set on seeing The Wave, but because of our luck with the lottery we instead end up finding something nearly as beautiful and fun to explore. We loved White Pocket, North Teepees is on our list for future visits.

Looks like a giant lump of fossilized flesh with muscle fibers and some scales still attached to it in places, left over and exposed from Noah's great flood in : Genesis 7

You're right...kind of morbid but it definitely looks like that! Beautiful but very odd to look at.
