These videos are super interesting I’ve been binging them for the last day or so because I love comparing the more direct translation in this with the more lyrical one in the English subs, and also this is a super helpful resource for me since I’m trying to write an English cover of this song! Thanks for making them :)

Thank you~💕 but I have to warn you that the translations may not be entirely correct. We just got the translations from wiki and in the anime, plus there are some parts with missing translations which we worked on, so I'm not entirely confident. Still, thank you 💕🤗

@@siennakuma don’t worry I’m using several sources for the lyrics of this song, but when I compare all of the ones I can find (the anime subs which are slightly reworded to make it fit the rhythm of the song, the direct lyrics on the wiki which feel weirdly literal, lacking any sense of metaphor, and these) these videos feel like the best blend of both. I appreciate them a lot! :)

I remember the only time when I cried without knowing. It was after watching the movie Arrival. Aliens arrived on Earth. A professor who seemingly had just lost a child to cancer and whose husband left her was sent to establish first contact along with other associates. They figured out that the aliens came to gift humanity a weapon so hostility was on a breaking point. But the linguistic professor found out that "weapon" was a mistranslation. The so-called weapon was their language because in order to understand the alien language, humans have to be able to see both the future and the past, their language was a perfect loop in space as it is in time. Using her knowledge of the future, she prevents a full on international and possibly intergalactic war. Then, the movie ends with her revealing that she had just conceived her daughter at the point when the conflict was resolved. So, she says, "Despite knowing the journey and where it leads, I embrace it. And I welcome every moment of it." I left the theatre and then I went back to my dorm. Then my tears started to stream down and it wouldn't stop. My roommate was slightly concerned and I laughed exactly the way Saki did and I said the same thing "I don't even know why". It's something about that last line, the courage, the peace, the hopelessness even, I still don't know why or what it is. But something struck a chord, not just in my mind or even in my heart. Whatever it was, that moment resonated with my blood, my breath, my very fibre of existence. And maybe it's the realization that moment ended, will not come back again for a VERY long time? I don't know. But I felt what Saki felt. So when I watched that second episode, I just had to crown Zombie Land Saga. If not the best anime, then a very close second.
