White smoke on start up? Glow plug replacement

Күн бұрынQuick and cheap fix for quite a common problem that shouldn't be ignored. Bad glow plugs can clog your DPF and EGR. Also not preheating the cylinders causes wear on the engine. Which will increase fuel consumption and decrease power.

Do you get OBD code if there is something wrong with the glow plugs? I have white smoke coming out from the diesel car on cold start cold days 0C. After 5-10 mins when the engine is hot, I don't see the white smoke anymore. I wonder if should I still check the glow plugs as the car hasn't registered any OBD codes.

You only get a code when the plugs fail completely. It's quite easy to test plugs. Pull the out and run 12v thru them. They should get red hot in 3 seconds.
