Roger only wanted to teach Oden a lesson and Whitebeard only wanted to defend his crew and didn't fight offensive. Also I think they used the fight between oden and whitebeard to show us what oden is capable of to hype him up. But the fight between oden and kaido was a all or nothing fight.

one piece characters be in there primes late tbh. all the admirals are in their 50s, shanks mihawk and blackbeard are in their 40s and kaido is in his 50s. most characters are rookies in their 20s and sometimes 30s like the worst generation

If he is in his 20s probably he is weaker than when he is in 30s or 40s or even 50s. He is probably learning or training during his 20sm his prime would probably in his late 30s or early 40s

@@MidArtWorld hmm… I don’t see the word “COMBINE” in your original comment. Ok I got what you mean. That is interesting.. I think they being rival wanted to find out which of them had stronger haki. And i think whenever luffy and kaido clashed with Haki combined with Devil fruit, it was still Haki but clashed with a different part of body/weapon/power. Like luffy rubber hand with haki, kaido weapon with haki. Their devil fruit didn’t increase their haki, it was just applied in a different way. we will hopefully get more info about all these, but from what the anime (not manga) have shown, it doesn’t seem to matter what devil fruit power you have, a haki user even without any devil fruit power can counter you. Reylieh vs Kizaru is a good example. and also raylieh blocking Marco’s attack with a finger is another example.
