Hello, I'm a new frog owner, I bought two whites tree frog at a farmers market (1m, 1f) a few wks ago & slowly but surely im learning how to care for them. Very helpful video! I do have a few questions: how often should I change out the soil (I use coconut) & water from their bowl?? Also, how often do you feed your frogs (I've been switching between crickets/mealworms, I put them in a small bowl & they go to it at their pace)?
@maleahtortilla587
@maleahtortilla587 3 жыл бұрын
I recommend going bioactive so that you don't need to change the soil! The biodude has a kit specifically for these guys that's what I'll be getting. Also change their water every day and make sure it's clean water, preferable RO water. And feeding should be 2-3 times per week :)
@MyCreepyCrawlys

Mealworms have a outer shell like body,that can lead to impaction and intestinal problems. Crickets & roaches are your best option.

@JoshPhoenix11
@JoshPhoenix11 Жыл бұрын
Seeing as though you didn't get a reply. You wont need any uv lights, the frogs are entirely nocturnal, but you can put a heat light OUTSIDE the tank on one side. Place it at the top of the tank at the side, and have climbing logs inside that reach the same hight for it to sit on, and the lamp pointing to that spot. Cause they're tree frogs you want it up hight. And because the lamp is on one side it will keep the opposite side cool and will have temp gradient. You can then place 2 thermometers, 1 on both sides. You can use the ones that go on the glass if you want. And then either have an automatic mister in there or mist inside the tank yourself twice a day, an have a hygrometer inside too. Then just make sure any plants or anything you have in there are chemical free, and keep a water bowl big enough for it to sit in cause they like to soak, but not too big because they're apparently not the best swimmers. Im Australian and live with these frogs in the wild if that makes any difference.

hi! this might end up being a long read, but i’d really really appreciate it if someone could help me out a bit! i’m very new to reptiles. recently i’ve had a friend where him and his boyfriend needed to have another care taker for their frogs, and i’ve gotten a 29 gallon, uvb, daytime and nighttime lighting systems, to thermometers for the bottom and top of the aquarium, a bunch of different climbing and hiding decorations, water filter, and three soaking areas, and four little froggos. i’ve been super adamant on the care for the past four days, but as of now, some of them don’t seem to move much (ik they’re nocturnal, but some have gone 24 hours from what it has seen), one seems skinned than the rest, and some hang out at the bottom during the day where it’s cooler. i release crickets and meal worms with the calcium every other day (although there’s still a few left over from previous feedings in the cage). i keep paper towels at the bottom of their tank, and mist everything twice a day. even though i keep the lights on when needed and this is the exact set up the pervious owners had, the thermometers usually say around 63 degrees when i get up, however i always keep my room at about 71 when i sleep, and when i keep their lights on during the day, the temperature never presses 75. is there something wrong with both their behavior (staying at the bottom, not moving at times, not croaking at night, ect) or how i’m caring for them? i feel as though i’ve done a good amount of research for the little dudes and i’ve been very keen on their health, but i want to be absolutely possible because i’d hate to have something happen to the dudes that could’ve been preventable. i want to give them the best life possible. thank you for reading and if anyone could get back to me, it would mean the world. 💖
