Getting to and from your stand locations without spooking deer is one of the most important things you need to achieve on your property. Everything we do with habitat improvements is to increase the predictability and consistency of the daylight deer activity on our properties. Without clean access, this will be tossed out the window. In this video we talk about 3 aspects of hunting access we take into consideration in order to get to and from our stands without spooking deer.

I use a small leaf rake (after leaf fall) to quietly clear off any additional leaves, as I love to hunt quiet cold mornings in early November. Great video.

Good video. Shows what using a variety of tools can help with. I like my access trails 20-50 yards off the property line so the neighbor can't see me or the deer if they are property line hunters, as many are. :-)

Thank you for the video. What do you do for areas in deep woods to screen you access?

Be careful with those access trails. Some times you'll make a deer corridor right there and your neighbors will be sitting the property lines.

Good information. Will you make your access trail into a clover plot like at your Barry County property?

I made an access trail in about 20-30 feet in from the east property line and the deer seem to use it to access the ag field next to me. Last year I spooked a deer going in one morning and my cameras show them on it quite a bit. I want to try to cut some trees to help screen the trail but not sure what to do about the deer using the trail. Thanks for the video.
