I saw this show in NYC and LA. both nights at each city. I think she REALLY shot for the stars in Europe tho. While her GL and MOT tour are personal faves of mine, I might have to say this was her very BEST tour. She was a legend at "only" 14 yrs n the biz. Her voice had evolved and she was not about the crystal clear tone and the vocal acrobatics of her first couple years touring. The Arista 10th anniversary and the performance as Luther's opening act in '85 showed the world they were not ever gonna be ready for vocals like that. This tour her voice has more....gravitas to it. It had "lived". While the tone changed (very little to do w/lifestyle and far more her singing style and aging) she never, ever lost her power or total command of a song until it was too late and COPD had set in. We would sadly be left with that after the NBL tour. It was ineviatable. It is a degenerative disease and all they can do is give her prednisone to help open the airways & Prednisone and steroid inhalers are a BITCH of a drug. The side effects are insane, I speak from experience.. She still had her voice but w/COPD you can no longer exhale from your lungs, therefore you cannot inhale properly. But she was not hardwired to stay off the stage or, god forbid, lip sync. She literally gave us all of her. That lady singing while putting on her own lipstick, the sweetest faced Sylvia always there to help Whit (the Houstons threw her away like fcuking trash), I forget her name pulls back the curtain with a big smile for the camera cuz she's like "oh yes baby, u bout to see sum'in u aint eva seen" LOL! And Whitney going off chasing "a butterfly" (more like a moth) is just so.....Whitney. She don't give a fcuk! And she knows we LOVE her.

Whitney knew the THUNDERPUSS was the only version that mattered. MMHMM
