@@amanda.collaud As a christian I totally agree with you, but you can only love another person to the degree that you love yourself. You can't have quality loving relationships with others if you don't love yourself. There is nothing wrong with loving yourself and having confidence and dignity. As a child you get this from your parents and if you don't, like I didn't, life gets hard at a very early stage and then you strugle later on like I do now. Do you really think that Jesus hated himself or had a very low selfesteem?

@@amanda.collaud Selfhatred is not "a good mechanism to oppose the demons". You shouldn't hate anybody, especially yourself, becouse if you do then there is something wrong with your relationship with God. You can (and should) love yourself, be self confident and have dignity and still be humble and modest to others and worship and admire God. Modesty doesn't equal self hatered. If you hate yourself it doesn't mean you are a bad person it just means you are unable to have quality, loving realtionships with your husband/wife,children,family,friends.. because that self hate will make you unconsciously do or say things that will hurt other people around you. I don't think my parents didn't love me, they just made me feel that way because that's the way they feel about themselfs. The important thing is to recognize where this self hate comes from and deal with those emotions, and of course forgive, I did. :) And now, as the song says, I'm learning to love myself and hope to be able to give this love to my kids so they have childhood they deserve. I'm glad I will break this negative chain of self hate in my family. God bless you

this song means a lot for those people who are fighting with depression, anxiety, self steem, and every fight that every one have in their lifes. keep fighting, dont give up. life is a journey not a curse. remember that the greatest love of all is inside of us, is the love that we can have for us not for others. a great song to dedicate to ourselves, really inspiring.

As a minster have been working to put a stop to evil drugs that destroy the lives of others and take away the innocence of children. @@handthefs8197 Whitney Houston hasn't been surpassed JUST yet, buddy. Not even close to matched. I'm not saying there haven't been any legendary singers after her. Mariah and Celine are the ones closest to her level (as well as Aretha Franklin). But none of them are as good as Whitney. Still, there are some legendary singers in the 2000s-2010s. There's Beyonce, Sohyang, Brandy, and Lara Fabian. There's also legends in the making like Jessie J., Tori Kelly, Ariana Grande, Morissette Amon, Jennifer Hudson, and JoJo. None of them are better or nearly as good as Whitney was.

In my workplace we have many coworkers from many different ages. Folks from the 70's, 80's, 90's, and 2000's millennials. Now we have Gen Z'ers coming in and one particular person decided to measure up to everyone by asking what makes their generation better than his Gen Z generation. His argument was... "What makes your generation so great? I have a smartphone therefore I have the greatest everything compared to y'allz generations because you're all old and didn't have the internet." Naturally everyone pitched in everything he could look up on the smartphone but he wasn't impressed. However one person said "You don't know the Greatest Love Of All, by Whitney Houston." He looked it up on KZfaq. You can see he was mesmerized by Whitney's beauty and voice. I honestly think inspiration woke up in his soul for the first time in his life. He gave that nod of approval. 80's will do that to ya ;) I'm from the 80's and I understood that look on his face. Thank you Whitney Houston!

It’s sad knowing she sang the words “learning to love yourself, is the greatest love of all”, when she wasn’t able to love herself. She was insecure, and constantly worried about what people and the media perceived of her. But damn what an absolutely gorgeous and stunningly beautiful woman she was, and she was so loved by so many people. She is as peace now and I’m sure she loves herself now

I lost all my friends in combat. I recently lost my mom and grandmother. I only have my daughter to conquer the world. I work 2 jobs. I have no one to love me. All I have is my dignity, self respect, my daughter and my self love. That is enough to get me through suicide. If I can survive a night without perishing that I can find strength in self love. This first time I heard this song as a kid, I was a sleep when it was on the radio. I was hearing it in my dreams, like I was in a big hall. It sounded so magnificent piercing through my soul. When it stopped, I woke up. It took me weeks to know the song and artist as I couldn't get it right away. I was trying to sing to song to people if they know what song it was.

It's hard to choose a favorite among so many great tracks, but "The Greatest Love of All" is one of the best, most powerful songs ever written about self-preservation, dignity. Its universal message crosses all boundaries and instills one with the hope that it's not too late to better ourselves. Since, Elizabeth, it's impossible in this world we live in to empathize with others, we can always empathize with ourselves. It's an important message, crucial really. And it's beautifully stated on the album.
