Oh boy. The mini shoulder purses, spaghetti straps and tank tops, chokers, highlights and streaks, unfolded collars, layering the long sleeve shirt underneath the tennis shirt, wide leg jeans, baby pink hues, flip phones and Hilary Duff was still the queen of Disney. honestly, when I saw him eating huge bites, I kind of felt like I knew what he was feeling. have you ever been in the middle of an argument with someone while eating or you're on the verge of tears while eating, and you just stuff the food in your mouth to make it seem like everything's ok to outsiders and at the same time doing it in an attempt to not cry, yeah, I had a jerk boyfriend a lifetime ago, and that's how I ate when my heart was breaking 🤷🏻‍♀️

I really like the fact that the last four at the bonfire: Lauren, Dieter, Stephen, and Trey, are still friends today. I remember when I watched this show as a 15-year old, I really wanted to live in Laguna. I grew up in a big city, which I loved, but the idea of growing up by the beach and in a smaller community sounded amazing. FYI. The Morgan rejection letter was staged. That was a letter to BYU Hawaii. She did go to BYU in Utah.

Trey's open mic night was how I spent so many of my Friday nights in high school, I remember thinking Lo's reaction to that event was so snobby - she hurt my feelings! haha

Some context that's really missing: Kristen said in an interview that she was dating Stephen then they broke up for a while, and that's when Lauren started dating Stephen, then it was after they broke up and Kristen and Stephen got back together that they had started filming Laguna beach. That's why there was such tension between Kristen and Lauren.

Morgan ended up getting into a conditional summer program that year at BYU Utah which allowed her to enroll as a full-fledged student in the fall. It was basically a program where if you got good grades in these “starter” courses, then you officially got into the school. So that storyline actually had a happy ending.

FYI: There are 3 seasons of Laguna Beach, the second season is Kristen senior year but Lauren is still in it, she’ started dating Jason at the end of season 2, which was right before The Hills. And season 3 has Lauren’s sister.

True and funny story - It was known for its high quality cinematography back then! They shot it like a movie with big sweeping b roll views of the scenery and it was a big thing in the media coverage of the show - the high quality filming. Seems pretty funny / surprising now ha!

Finger Banging 😂 I love that you guys aren’t being totes prudes in this season, it’s ok to say things were all thinking and laughing about in our heads anyway 👖 these episodes have been so fun. And I feel like Whitney has been so much funnier and so much more vocal despite her heartache. It’s easier to make fun of the decisions and actions of the teenage version of someone you know vs The Hills (where they are grown adults) with out feeling like you’re judging the person or hurting feelings. So please don’t hold back, this is what we’re here for!

Some 'behind the scenes' stuff: Morgan actually applied to few universities - and she actually got accepted to BYU Utah (i think), she got rejected from BYU Hawaii - so all worked out OK in the end :)

It’s really awesome of you guys’ to do these and help so many of us to smile and laugh when we need it through rough times, especially going through your own journey and bumps in the road. I am in and out of the hospital a lot recently (few days in then a week out, rinse and repeat) and it’s been really hard but seeing you both and laughing along with you, really makes a difference snd brings some happiness and peace. I hope you know how much of a positive impact you are having on others for and just how much you’re appreciated and cared for. Be proud of yourselves, you really are amazing!

I'd love to hear more of Timmy's comments on the work that goes into producing a reality show. Like why he thinks they made the decisions they made. I remember seeing an interview of Kristin saying that she was really upset when the show aired because she got the villain edit and she wasn't expecting that at all.

Im so happy you guys are doing laguna beach!!!! I'll be here for every one! The nostalgia is real, when this was airing I was a teenager in Michigan, as basic and normal as possible lol (or as Stephen would say "standard") so this was so fascinating and exciting at the time like wow California teenagers so cool lmao. Watching it back now as an adult is HILARIOUS.
