Someone who was a superstar without playoff success was Demarcus cousins. I feel like he was generally considered the best center throughout the league for a solid stretch without any success.

Superstar is a stretch imo. I don't think Cousins possessed the intangible or defensive gravity to propel a team to the next next level. Obviously he was on some bad teams but... take 2016-2017 and put him on the 2016-2017 Bulls with Rondo and Wade and Butler. Is that projected to win a title? Or even in consideration for being a title contending team?

honestly idk how you could have dame as a superstar but not AD. AD is the much more impactful player and even when he has bad shooting nights he’s impacting the game. We always complain about people like Julius Randle not doing stuff like that when they have a bad shooting night but when a guy like AD does it we still complain. Yes there’s a lot to be desired offensively but at the same time he has injury history so his passiveness can be understandable due to not wanting to bang with other centers.

They were very lenient when deciding who was a superstar or not. Only superstars to me this year are Jokic, Giannis, Steph, Luka, Embiid, KD, Book, Tatum, LeBron and Shai

It gets confusing when on one hand you’re saying it gotta be how they’re playing this season vs accounting for career accolades. Probably better to just not overthink it and go with a list like yours. Think about it too much and the criteria get messy cause if they’re Paul George is not a superstar cause he’s not playing at that level anymore but Shai isn’t either cause he’s not had deep playoff runs yet I don’t get if we’re looking at this season only or career numbers. Better just go with a gut feeling I guess lol
