Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

You guys should do a cat and mouse evolution, where one person (the mouse is in a simple >7 powercore ground vehicle. E.g, a boat, hovercraft or car. And the Cat in a simple plane, helicopter, flying wing or quadcopter. If the mouse manages to make it from one point of the map to the other. E.g on treasure island, the swamps to the main spawn point. They get a point, if the cat manages to eliminate the mouse they gain a point. Then each player would swap vehicles and have a 2 minute round to adjust the vehicle, the following round the modification period is increased by 3 minutes as well as the powercore limit. The mouse should have a defensive minigun on a hefty cooldown, this would mean they can shoot back, but should mainly focus on using their speed and agility to escape the cat. As the rounds continue, the cat can go from a single smart cannon, to 2 smart cannons, to a minigun, to rockets, and then 2 miniguns and 1 rocket launcher. The cat should also be slower on the roll and yaw axis, so the mouse can have the agility advantage.

Genuinely surprised at just how robust scrapman's quadcopter was. I guess loosing almost the entire center section helped push the center of mass so it was between the remaining props and helicopter servos.

It’s hard to find an instance in which Yzuei wins against Scrapman because Yzuei usually creates a lot of aesthetic rather than efficient builds like Scrapman

The other day I saw a video about the synchropter... I think it might be doable in trailmakers, but getting the timings right might be an issue... perhaps Scrapman can give it a try?

since you can fly that drone even with just half of its body, why don't you try making an asymmetrical drone with the propelers on one side and the seat on the other side? seems like a fun challenge to build

Hey scrapman , a future idea for you. Make a quad copter drone that can transform into a tricopter by adjusting the rear two blades into one and then that can transform into a two blade copter by adjusting the front two into one and if you manage to do that than go for the single copter where all the props are centred above the build.

Suggestion: 1) find people, (whether that be creators, devs, subscribers, members, friends, family, etc) and have a "total war" all a map. 2) each individual may choose to build a land, sea, air, or mixture of any. 3) optional: split into teams with each team covering..well, everywhere. 4) last person/team standing wins

Wow, that final battle was quite the spectacle, you could not have asked for a more photo finish! I always love the rocket rounds since you're both so much more timid and calculating, holding your shots, waiting for the perfect angle rather than just spraying in the general direction of your foe. Getting hit and carrying on is always super intense and getting the killing shot feels super satisfying.

Here's a suggestion. How about an all-terrain battle in which you each build a vehicle that is capable of functioning on land, air, and sea without modification between rounds(other than possibly the weapon)? In this case, the part count would have to be much higher, but you would have to weigh all of your options and balance what would be best for each environment. For example, a tanky boat might be hard to fly and a plane with a lot of lift might be hard to keep on the ground. I think this would be a good challenge to display the culmination of all of your various "x vehicle 1v1s".

That ending was epic! A weird idea I just came up with: Helicopter 1v1 BUT the winner has to simplify their aircraft, both would use the same heli and you would only get around 4-6 minutes to make the heli worse but not too bad so they could still win, maybe the first one to 5 points is the winner? Idk if it's a good idea but it'd be interesting

Missile fighting 1.Build missiles using only two or three rawjet engines 2.put you gun on it and fly by in high speeds and shoot 3.good luck suggestions for win 1.turn on raw jets on alternating pattern (0.1s On) (0.2 Off) (starting offset as you need for smooth thrust) 2.use control surfaces at front of missile and fixed stablizers at the back (add roll and pitch and yaw using logic on 4 stablizer all on servos at the front)

I vote for a co-pilot challenge. You'll each need a partner for it. The idea is that you make large planes with turrets on different locations on the plane. Your co-pilot will be responsible for the gun's, and only the co-pilot, so protect their seat. I also suggest having logic for switching turrets so they actively have to adjust as the pilot makes evasive maneuvers. I also suggest having cameras on the turrets that the gunner's view switches to when they engage any of the turrets. The pilot will be responsible for flight controls, and only the pilot will be responsible. If you want the ability to switch roles, you'll need a way to toggle between so that way controls are still restricted.

For anyone else that needs a more visual example. Imagine the Air Strike kill streak from COD, those style of planes but pitted against each other instead of air to ground. Also, with the turrets on the sides of the fuselage instead of on the belly, that way they have to switch in order to get the optimal angle.

You could do a battle where your only form of trust is the expandable balloons. That way you need to use the balloon to gain altitude and then glide towards each other and exchange fire!

I have an idea, instead of using guns. You both could build a train with rams and then ram into each other hoping the best one wins. You could even modify your train ever round to make it more durable or faster!

Here's a weird 1v1 suggestion: Jousting The "jousters" themselves would be whatever you design them to be, but they should: A) Be rocket-powered (up to a power core limit) B) Have a shielded target on the side closest to the center line C) Have an adjustable lance arm that you must manually aim as your creations hurtle towards each other I'm not quite sure how the arena/fence setup would work, I tried a few tests with skis and wheels settled into recessed guide tracks, but the physics collisions in Trailmakers were having absolutely none of it. Setting up a fence as a guideline on the flat map and making sure your creations simply move in a straight line would probably suffice

Idea: Glider dogfights. You get a certain amount of power cores and time to get as high as you can, and then your engines get detached, and you have to dogfight engineless. It also might be interesting because of the fact that fighters and gliders have very opposite ideal wing shapes IRL, I don't know about Trailmakers though.

I have a suggestion, build submarine gliders with two of the same weapons each instead of just one. Have a defined space for battle and shoot each other only while gliding.Sounds simple but it could be a lot of fun.

Suggestion 1: Revisit every/all relevant Trailmakers "airborne battle creations" videos and swap out old parts and replace with space parts i.e. "quantum rudder instead of tailfins or gyro instead of helicopter engine" and redo the battles both in space and/or in regular atmosphere with a requirement that you are only allowed to change the mechanical and propulsion parts and need to keep the basic structure the same on each creation, maybe call the builds something like "Quadcopter v1.7". Suggestion 2: Revisit the evolution series and "evolve" your old creations to work in space, you could give a little more time in between rounds to evolve, with round 1 being used to see if/how they work without any adaptations, with the restriction of not going over the original power core limit and part count.

I have two ideas for 1v1 and I'm pretty sure one of them is impossible, So [1] first one is like a glider dog fight challenge where both of you will go off a tall tower/hill (like the final mission one) equipped with guns and who can stay in the air longer is the winner (before going into the clouds) [2] And second is like a minigun powered planes dog fight

Idea that could potentially Work: via a camera Block on a detachable Part you leave behind before Take Off, do a dogfight with "remote Controlled Planes" that you can only See via the camera pov on the ground

maybe a base defense battle would be fun. like you deploy a sub/boat from a floating base and you have to protect or go on the attack. i imagine part of the battle would be trying to find the other's base. first to sink the other's base wins?

Day 14 of asking ScrapMan to make a 2v2 video where each team makes a cargo plane that launches a glider one person makes the glider another makes the cargo plane and whoever's glider goes the most far wins then each round both teams get 1-5 mins to upgrade the builds but they cant communicate while building so u have to be very careful with what u change. The cargo plane would launch the glider at a certain point or after a certain amount of time idk what would work better. I think this would be a great video and I really want to see it, keep up the amazing work you make my day every time I watch one of your videos.

I think it would be fun to do a wind power only battle on the high seas map. I know you did a similar one with Cosmo but I think that was before the airborne update.

Fun fact: helicopter can be broken down into two root words - helico (spiral) and pter (wing). So the word quadcopter technically makes no sense, etymologically speaking.

I’m fairly certain scrapman survived because the lack of auto stabilization. Yuzie probably had his auto stabilizers fight against him.

ScrapMan, second time suggesting this, you should check out the Vought V-173 “Flying Pancake” concept prototype and the XF5U “Flying Flapjack” production prototype STOL aircraft from WWII as a weird invention / creation. Maybe, with this current 1v1 series, it could be an inspiration, too.
