They all did a great job, but my personal fav is Tommy.....i have so far loved ALL of his songs, bar none......including Sabaton and Majestica.....Without a doubt, he is multi-talented and does all the singing and plays all the instruments......that gives him extra points, plus there was a lot of raw emotion going on.....NO contest for me !!

For me I-Ten and Tommy stands out. I-Ten (Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly) wrote this song, and mr Kellys singing is always tremendously good, gives me shiver with this melancholy deliverance. Tommy makes it in a new way, a bit more up tempo, but his voice is so incredibly good, so I'm also enjoying his version. Fun fact: Kelly/Steinberg also wrote Like A Virgin, a pretty famous song 😊

Definitely Tommy’s . Heart made me love rock when I was I girl .. with this song ( I and was raised on country )… and it still gets me from time to time.. Tommy made me love this song so much more .. and he change me to the core .. I realized I liked power metal and I’m in my 40’th … his personality, humor and charisma I just breathtaking 🌹 Don’t get me wrong I love all three and they can’t be compared because the are all amazing in there own right . But my “heart” belong to Tommy 😉

Surprisingly I liked Tommy's version. Floors is very emotional and I loved Hearts version when it came out in the 80's. Loved em all.

For me it's always Heart. Grew up in that era, they were my favorite band. I've heard I'Ten's version before. I like it.Back in the day, and I have heard several versions. First it was Nancy, not feeling the demo version, then Ann. but with Howard, Mark and Denny, they made it amazing.Howard's solo. I've heard Floors', not into her version, but never heard Tommy's. Woooah!! He took it to another level. I loved it because it was a man singing again. Outta control passion.

For me it's definitely Tommy 😊 Love that his voice is so nuanced and you can tell he really loves singing and making the videos 🙂 I've yet to hear a song with him I don't like 🎵🎸 I use his voice as my mental medicine 🎶😌

Floor does it so well because she credits heart for her love of rock/metal. It's a personal tribute to the band with a lot of meaning to her. (And of course she is an amazing singer).

I don't really like comparisons, but for the sake of the argument, I'll give it a go... First of all, congrats to the band i-Ten for creating such a masterpiece! What a great song! It's iconic, it's a classic hit. What can we say? However Heart did a fantastic job covering this. I mean, let's be honest here... Most of the people, myself included, discovered this gem listening to Heart's version and not the original. So there is that... Now Floor is... Floor, she is undoubtedly amazing and her version is so emotional and heartwarming, but I think we all know by now that when it comes to covers, Tommy is hands down the undisputed winner. I'm sorry, but it is what it is. Tommy doesn't just cover songs. He upgrades them. He is untouchable. He is unmatched in my opinion simply because he brings it all on the... table. He is a phenomenal guitar player, he plays the keys, he plays the bass, he is such a character, actually he is doing all kinds of things in just a simple cover and then there is his voice. What can we say here? He has it all: clarity, warmth, colour, tone, energy, power, passion, emotion, range.... Maaaan, the voice range this guy has is literally mind blowing, to say the least! Tommy is simply out of this world! He has been called by many "Tommy, the voice of a God", "The chosen one", "The King of covers", "Tommy, one man band" and much more for a reason. I mean, don't get me wrong, all 4 artists did a super amazing job, but I'm rooting for Tommy all the way. Obviously Joel here discovered Tommy pretty recently, so he hasn't quite yet captured the pure magic and greatness that Tommy is, but I'm sure he will after a few more reactions to him. Give it a... minute, bro... I'm certain you will be... Tommyfied as all the rest of us who have been rocking out with him for a while now... Take care... 😉🤟🤘

I'm a Floor fan, but I didn't like her version of Alone from the start. For this song I prefer Heart or Tommy. Their crystal clear voices and Tommy's high notes are the bringer.

I also grew up with the Heart version, still have the 7" single. Music is emotion and that one is bringing me back to my teenage time. I never heard the original before. I must admit that I liked that one very much as well. I love Floor sinds Ater Forever started and she worked with the Ayreon projects. She made that song her own and feels different that the first 2 versions. I just listened to Tommy a few times and although he has a stunning range I miss the emotions a little, but the metal vibe is great. Choosing the best one is most likely depending on the mood I'm in. Metal mood: Tommy, Old guy sentimental mood: Heart. Emotional mood: Floor. The first one: sorry, not on the list

I didn't know it was originally by i-Ten either. I always liked the Heart version but then came Floor and Tommy haha. The music on Floor's version was made by Dutch producer, arranger and musician Joost (pron. Yoast) van den Broek. He was also a member of Floor's first band After Forever. And he is also one of the guest musicians of Ayreon. This is a rock opera-ish project by composer and guitarist Arjen Anthony Lucassen (also Dutch). I definitely would recommend Ayreon's "The Day That The World Breaks Down - The Source" to react to. I'm convinced you'll like it and....there will be a surprise in it!😄Have a nice weekend!

Tommy is the best by far, the others are good, but come on, that voice of Tommy is just unbeatable, even by the original in my opinion. You really need to check out his other covers, simply amazing.

I can't say who is better or worse because the versions are all very different and all good in their own way. I can only say what touches me the most emotionally and that is Tommy's version.

Fun fact: The vocal harmonies on Heart's recording are by Tom Kelly ... the guy who co-wrote the song with Billy Steinberg.

I was 16 when Heart released Alone and I loved it, Ann's voice was amazing. No one could do it better, then came Floor and Tommy! Both versions are brilliant and different enough to make it feel like a whole new song. Love them all 😍 Have you watched Floor's rendition of Lady Gag's Shallow from Beste zangers? It's something else! 😁

I’ve been counting the comments, seems Floor got the most points. I can second that! But honestly you can’t compare. There is not a best or a least best, all performers did a great rendition. It’s a question of taste whatever a person prefers and if we all had the same taste it would be a boring world without variety.

Floor's version was the most emotional one. I'll have it on a playlist with calm ballads, along with some of her own solo songs. I also love the powerful versions with Heart and Tommy Johansson. A little biased since I'm a huge Tommy fan. But I must say that I love them equally, the original included, because they're so different. All of them have high quality.

They all bring something to the table that's a bit different, but on this one, I'd have to stand by Ann Wilson's vocals. I think Floor is the better vocalist over-all, but Ann's got this one. The original will always be the original, and it's an amazing song that they should be proud of, but this is one of those rare moments where someone took a song and took it to the next level. Heart did that. Floor and Tommy are equally awesome on this, but man...there's just something about the darkness and richness of Ann's voice that just trumps them for me.

Hi Joel and everyone on here. You need to check out the amazing Ann and Nancy Wilson version from 2016 with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra performed in the incredible Royal Albert Hall in London. Enjoy! Joel you should add it to the comparisons.

Tommy did Vocals and mixed them, plus performed guitar(s), as well as keyboard (piano). I am sure he did the Bass guitar and mixed the percussion as he always does. But lets go back to the vocals. His range as a male rivels both Floor and Ann Wilson. I give this one to Tommy the one man band that needs no others.

When I first heard Heart's version I said "awesome", then I heard Floor and I said "wow" but then Tommy came along and my mind is blown!!!!!

Heart did this so well. Such an Iconic ballad from that Era. Sure Floor smashed it. So much so she did it with piano only. Gave some equal playing field for other's. Heh. Joking... Or am I.

I don't care who the others are and how well they sing it ie diction or enunciation. When the song first came out everyone fell in love with it like myself and played it to death and it became an over night hit. I personally don't care for these comparisons! I seen Heart live in 1990 and I remember the chills going down my spine when this song was played. Unless you have been there, having heard the song personally then actual no comparison can be made!!

The last version was really unexcpected great. In general the studio version from Heart is still my favorite, maybe because i know that one for like what, nearly 40 years ? now. Also i just like it more with the power chords on guitar than the quiter version of Floor, and i know Heart also made live versions in that style.

I love this song, and I love the various versions. Who does it best is a matter of taste. Somehow renditions of songs that are commercial less successful can artistically be better. As Henk Poort says, good music is good music. So enjoy whatever version you hear and appreciate the dedication of good musicians. (and ok, the version of Heart is down memory lane, and I love how Floor Jansen sang this song.) Did those 'hair bands' in the eighties try to get more hair than the Wilson sisters?

I prefer the power in Tommys voice and his sound, but of course Floor is fantastic as well, it is totally different, so it depends on the mood you are in - bur normally I am in the mood for Tommys Power-Music

All of these versions of Alone were wonderful, but you forgot Band-Maid's version! J/k'ing, but Band-Maid has their own song of the same name which is just beautiful and worth checking out. :)

I don't like comparisons as it creates debates and sometimes the ugly out of people. But the reason why i prefer Floor is she is a lot more versatile but that's with all songs not just this one. I was and still am a fan of Heart. Floor did this song before this one when she was with Afterforever and a special person commented on her reindition claiming how great it was can you gues who it was??..... Well it was the one and only Anne Wilson. So even she gave Floor the tick of approval. And still the U.S. Grammy Awards don't know Floor Jansen?.

These are all great performances, but Floor's diction and enunciation, and the little vocal style changes, the slightly slower song, and the emotions and feelings she makes us experience, it is just in another class or dimension. The 2nd verse and she has me in tears, every single time. Unbelievably incredible! BTW, time to react to Oblivion, originally by M83, for the movie of the same name with Tom Cruise, especially if you have seen it. Heart and it's not even close. Their version is the one that made the song notable and no one conveys emotion like Ann Wilson. What makes her great is she doesn't have to hammer her emotion across -- she just sings and you can feel it without her going overboard. Floor's version is overboard drama queen stuff. i

All 3 versions are cool but nothing beats the version that put the song on the map. The Heart singers voice is unique and I've never heard anyone else come close to her power and phrasing.

The lyrics demand a emotional approach to it. Floor managed that the best no doubt. Music wise Tommy did the best job, but lyrics and music must have a symbiotic connection to get it to be a really great song. In these modern times the music sadly seems the only thing which comes through and sells, so writing good lyrics is not a priority nowadays. Floor with her new solo stuff manages it to get it both right and deserves more recognition for that.

Warmen has an amazing cover of Alone, as well.

I think all four are pretty cool. Just wish the vocals on the original were a bit more forward in the mix during the soft sections. I grew up with the Heart version, Ann Wilson's voice is amazing. I think Floor did a fantastic job, although she's had some practice with this song. There's a video out there with her singing it with her original band, After Forever. And as for the last version, nice Metal version. All quite enjoyable. Thank you for doing this comparison video.

They are all great. Floor is my favorite singer ever. However, I prefer a little heavier arrangement, and as it was the one I knew the song by, Heart maybe the quintessential version for me, but I enjoy listening to each.
