Жыл бұрынHi, we are Harriet and Mauro and in February 2021 we bought an abandoned smallholding in Castellón, Spain. In these videos we share our life as we restore and improve our little stone house, learn to grow and preserve our own food, and bring our 4 acres of farmland back to productivity.

Congratulations on all the changes! I've been unable to have children due to disability, and it has left a gaping yearning hole in my life. I often stop watching youtubers if they start a family because it's just too sensitive for me. But I enjoy watching you so much, and you're both so lovely and kind. I think I can make an exception this time because I'm just really pleased for you. You didn't need to know this of course, but I just wanted you to know I think you'll make great parents, and I'm glad that if i couldn't have children, at least you two could. 🥴

I'm suffering mentally due to my infertility, so I'm afraid I will add myself to the list of "can't watch anymore". I read the comments before watching the video because of this. So, it's been nice, but I have to protect my mental health.

@@Aethuviel I'm so sorry, but I completely understand. I was shattered recently to realise I will soon be going through the first stages of menopause. I feel like a failure in so many areas, but to be a failure for something you just are.... it's so difficult. I hope you still have a chance to conceive. ❤️❤️❤️ I've certainly stopped watching many youtubers for this reason. I think this is one of the few times I can manage to watch it happen. But I'm probably further down my journey than you. Not only am I pretty infertile, I am extremely high risk to myself and any potential baby. I guess I've accepted it's not happening. Take care. ❤️

@@MauroGestoso If only more people realised having a child is something precious and to be treasured, perhaps society would be a better place. It takes being denied a baby to begin to appreciate the miracle of in creating life. I know you two won't take it for granted. By the way, if you haven't caught your goats yet, you could set up your electric fence near where the shepherd passes... Then when he goes past get him to lead a group into the pen and close it. You can let some out one by one. You'll be able to catch them much more easily that way. An idea, although I've only seen it done with sheep.

The Donkey Sanctuary has found barley straw to be the best choice for healthy donkeys. Wheat straw is more fibrous and difficult to chew, making it less suitable for very young donkeys or donkeys with poor dentition. Oat straw is more digestible and can cause weight

Oh my goodness! How exciting, Congratulations! What a beautiful place you two have started building for a family. I can already see a little swing in a tree for the baby. All the awesome veggies you can feed the baby later & you know what is used on it. Perfect. The donkey is so pretty, has spots. I always love when someone can give a home to a rescue animal. My most recent rescue is a Akita/German Shepard male dog. I had him fixed & he weighs about 75 pounds now. So many good changes. Also Mauro, I have worn glasses since I was 6 yrs old. I can't imagine not needing glasses. I'm really happy for you. What a wonderful life you & Harriet are continuing to build. Again Congratulations!

Wonderful news all round ! That little donkey simply melts your heart, and judging by how gentle and caring you both are, your baby boy will just have the best possible parents. I could also totally relate totally to what Mauro was saying about that amazing feeling of being able to see after surgery, as I have undergone the same procedure for exactly the same reasons. You both deserve the very best for the future .

Congrats! It took us three years and a bunch of science to conceive too, and we're due in August. I definitely came for the homesteady content but I'm glad to stay for the baby content :)

Congratulations! I was just about to say you’re having a boy from your lack of morning sickness and then you said you’re having a boy (carrying girls increases estrogen= nausea). So happy for you both❤️✨

Hi, the straw is grown with pesticides that will produce a manure that will not allow anything else to grow other than straw. So I would try to make sure that your straw was grown up free of pesticides.

Not all straw is treated with the same pesticides. It can be hard to find out how it's been grown, so it's important to test in a small area. I've used this straw in my garden for 2 years, both plain and after having passed through a horses digestive system with no issues so I'm happy.

Congratulations, on your great news!!! We tried for a year and then found out my husband would have to have surgery too. Thank heavens for modern medicine. We had a son first and 2 years later a daughter. Children are trully a blessing. For those of you that wanted but never had children feel free to ask couples you know if you can borrow their children for some fun activities. I know of no parents that would resist the temptation for a break to go out to eat or just take a nap!!!!

Make sure that the straw has not been sprayed with herbicides. They remain active even after having passed through animals and can reward your plants for years

Congratulations to you both, Im so happy for you both.. I had a feeling when watching your videos that you were expecting. Take care of yourself and each other and rest as much as possible cause when the baby gets here , you won't get much rest but having a baby is every bit worth the no rest, no sleep.
