Rap is one of, if not the best and most boundary pushing genres of the last few decades. There are so many unique sounds, styles, and sub genres. Anyone who says rap sucks has only a very surface level understanding and view of it. Eminem + a few black artists you didn't like aren't a big enough sample size to write off an entire genre. If you don't understand enough of the culture, references, icons etc, then most of the genre will fly right over your head.

@@roachdoggjr4648 i can lsiten to any style of music. From mongol throat singing to death metal, to pop and anything in etween. Anything except rap. It js unpleasant to hear. Always feels like someone just rehearsing a text over some basic rythm.

@botondnyitrai3128 the cultural background and understanding is what separates hip hop from all other genres. All other genres rely on catchy melodies and aspects that don't require any understanding or cultural reference points generally. I listen to pop and metal from other countries too even when they're in other languages. Hip hop is different. Obviously not all rap is going to be "good". Much of it IS just party music, or vibes, and that's still part of hip hop too, but the real great rap music is written by through and through lyricists like Kendrick Lamar, Lupe Fiasco, Black Thought, Nas... but again if you don't understand cultural reference points etc, then you likely won't find it appealing which is fine. Not everything has to appeal to everyone. But to just call an entire genre bad is silly.

@@roachdoggjr4648 that is exactly the point. People always come to me with how good the lyrics are, how deep the meaning of it, and honestly I just don't care. Since english is not my first language, i never understood lyrics as a child, but it never bothered me. Heck i grew up that so that I hate my own country's misic bcs I can understand what its about. When I listen to music, I only care about the music part, how that makes me feel. I always view the singer's voice as another instrument, never as something that I should pay attention to in particular, rather the whole thing. I basically thaught myself to listen to music this way, and it opened up my eyes so much. When I was litle I always just listened to the shtty NCS playlist. Now I can listen to almost any kind of music in any kind of language. And of course even tho everything I said about rap, there of course raps that I actually enjoy, but they are just a huge minority.
