@@RoyalBaboon247 My personal experience with Rotties are their bite is strong as heck, but they aren't as active on the bite. Not the head shake or the hit that kind of makes me think they are trying to bite through you and not onto you. Great bite and hold, not the active bite that instills the fear.

Just choke the dog. Once hes out of air he will let go before passing out. If it works on a pitbull it works on such dogs too. Context; my mom her pitbull boerboel mix got attacked by some sort of mountain dog

@@TheSuperhoden That works wonderful if 1) you're strong enough to manhandle the dog and it's wearing a strong enough collar, 2) not so much if the dog isn't wearing a collar. Sending a dog into harms way against an individual that would kill both the dog and the officer with the dog wearing a collar is purely dumb. Yes, many departments do it that way. Someone comes up against one of my dogs, he won't be wearing a collar for the convenience of the bad guy. Training a formidable dog to bite and not release until choked off is the easy way. Training a release command and maintaining the balance of control and aggression is where it takes experience and expertise both from the trainer and the handler. Establishing positive control of the dog off lead in charged situations without suppressing the aggression component takes both quality dogs and a quality training program. Not all dogs can do it without suppression of the aggression element. Not training the aus command allows for a higher number of dogs to be taken into service. You can see that level of training/aggression/control in IPO, French Ring Sport, Mondioring and many police department dogs every day. Search right here on KZfaq and watch them at work.

Yvette, this is what’s called a tactical release. There is no command for “out” by design. Lots of police use this tactic so the dog will only release when “corrected” by collar grab. Just in case the bad guy knows the command. But I firmly agree with you that it’s scary that some of these dogs needed a little more training ….even on the “tactical “ release. I only saw one that “outed” and he was a bit rusty.

Lol. We had a local police demo and I yelled platz = “Down” and the poor dog looked at his handler all confused. Handler laughed and realized I had trained before. Trained 6 shepherd’s over the years ( 4 of them through protection - Schutzhund 111) , and agree with others, if a dog won’t release on command it needs more training.

It’s so much fun. Will happily take bites from anyone’s dog in a suit for money all day. @me haha

As someone whos owns 6 GSDs ...they are no joke. They will tear you apart with little training if you invade their space or attack their owner and as a pack they are like wolves ...all will get their chops into the aggressor bite by bite relentlessly

They dont use any commands like that alot of the time it is a foriegn language in conjunction with hand signals

Not impressed!!!!My previous Schutzund dog hit much harder than these dogs and most importantly he didn’t need to be pumped up. He could do that from a calm standstill till sending him.

Their is always some area that dogs are going to need to work on...however a dog attacking on command, might as well be just that,if you can't get him to release... essentially just attacking and mauling someone with no end in sight. The "OUT" command is the #1 thing that should be trained wether its fetch, tug or bite work. People can be seriously injured and alot of confusion can happen if a dog will not release. Lawyers have made millions on cases when dogs don't OUT.

I believe it goes to different communities but with Covid I am not sure how it will play out in the future.

so true. from all the videos iv seen for personal protection dogs. the trainers all say the rottie bite is the hardest. from a GSD fan..

One truth is they are trained and they just response slower because unlike humans dogs are bred and more intune to their animal instincts. So when they are trained to catch a bad guy they do the job and need to be coerced to release. Which none of these dogs showed any disrespect to their handlers. Also I think the dog that wouldnt release teeth got stuck in the suit

The dogs are either under control or not. Sloppy, slow or no release = out of control. Dogs working in public should demonstrate control.

@@zangzang1268 it doesnt matter - in context of apprehending criminals in criteria I dont believe a dog needs to have a quick release. If they are used to tackle a criminal a full on bite will suffice until the cops come and release the dog. Which to this video each dog obeyed the officer.

You don't know WTF you're talking about. The officer should be able to command the dog to release from a distance. Those dogs are not safe and shouldn't be used in public. 1) You didn't watch any of the working dogs I mentioned - if you did you wouldn't make such uninformed statements. 2) Right, in the context of apprehending a$$holes they can use Junk Yard dogs. 3) Those animals are not demonstrating a sufficient level of control to be safely released in the public. Look up what happens when there's a Police K9 screwup - right here on KZfaq. A well rounded demonstration by a real trainer would show, in addition to aggression and stopping power - control, detection, searching, tracking, and of course some obedience. Nothing in this video but out of control restrained dogs hitting a bit suite on an athletic field.

@@zangzang1268 exactly, these were super sloppy and really undisciplined. Not just the aus fail, but a basic takedown fail. I was going to tell them to go watch a Malinois in French ring if you want to see precision balanced between instinct and intellect. The Mals actually target their takedowns from three approaches with the target at various levels of aggression including shooting blanks. This was just as straight sprint and bite at best.
