3 жыл бұрынWho breaks the world record in figure skating? New figure skating world records have been broken by numerous iconic skaters in Season 2019-2020. While team Eteri is evidently dominating the Ladies field, Yuzuru Hanyu and Nathan Chen set new records in the past year. I must say this video by far is my favourite video I’ve ever worked on, don’t forget to hit the like button 🙂
Disclaimer: Since the introduction of the new +5/-5 GOE system which replaced the previous +3/-3 GOE system, ISU has decided that all statistics starts from zero starting from Season 2018-2019 and all previous statistics are historical.

They were actually upset about the blatant underscoring for 100% perfect performance, he definitely deserved more than 111. Only 1.56 GOE for most amazing Stsq ? while mediocre skaters get 1.95 and even 2.11 and 48 PCS for this masterpiece is criminal injustice. It's not just about breaking world records but getting the scores he actually deserved.

He wanted to cross the 111 barrier, but they never let him, no matter how perfect he performed, not even at Nationals, and mediocre jumper got 113 115 even 118 for 0 transitions, empty jumps, and crossovers... and again he got 111 for Rondo at Nationals, most difficult short program ever with (only 6 crossovers) and non-stop transitions... hard to believe but one judge gave him 8.75 for transitions at 2018 Olympics... not a single +3.00 at 2017 Worlds... he was constantly robbed after GPF 2015

@@nilinahir4517 there's an interview video right after his performance. He just knew about the WR by then. I think he knew it's his personal best score, but he didn't realize it was actually a new world record.

I like Yuzuru Hanyu because it's Yuzuru Hanyu, it's okay not to get a full world record. The most important thing is that I can see Yuzuru, I also love Hanyu because of his attitude and hard work during this time in achieving what he wants💚. so please don't make hate comments about Yuzuru hanyu. I agree 👍 However, I have never seen a hate comment about him (I've only seen comments hating on others who compete with him) so I can't say anything about that. I feel like there's a lot of controversy in skating these days, though.

Yuzu's heels are of indescribable beauty, it is good for the eyes. Technique, height, distance, fluidity, aerial position, legs together, knees straight, arms like a small butterfly wing. Yuzu is the definition of beauty and perfection. I wonder: When will Yuzu get his total and fair score?

Only YUZURU😍✨🔥💐🏆The GOAT. He is the reason why the ISU Judging System was changed. His historical records was never beaten in the same judging system and that alone suffice and prove that he is the greatest of all time. And now, he still competes even though he already bag all the medals available, that's passion right there. He is the best.

Yuzuru has the clarity that figure skating is not just jumps, but elegance, sequence of steps, costume and choice of music. What is FIGURE SKATING? Figure skating is everything Yuzuru Hanyu includes in his performances. As a commentator once said: Yuzuru is poetry in skating, while other skaters are just strength in jumping and nothing else. The ISU has a lot to learn.

Yuzuru Hanyu featured in top 30 (Sports Legends Gallery) the ONLY Japanese and ONLY Asian athlete, and ONLY figure skater, as the GOAT of figure skating. They did not include any other skater as the sports legend. Of course he's The one and ONLY our beloved Yuzuru Hanyu.

Well Sendai boys are born to make World Records. Also Yuzu, is still looked not satisfied with his WR 🤣😅 I think he is aiming what he have done in his past historical records like >112 points for a short program, but anyways he is so cool and calm when taking in these scores. Anyways, I'm still excited for the next season, what can he bring for this sport.

There should be MORE world records for yuzuru. Let me entertain you at world (107? Isu are you kidding me), all of Otonal he skated clean last season should have surpassed 110. Most of his wrs are extremely underscored: Chopin at 4cc, hope and legacy at 2017 world….

Its sad that with the kind of skating, nathan chen can get easily 95+ on performance and yuzuru, with how intricate, precise, difficult his program (not jump) he only gets 97+ There is no hate here. Its just that the value given on performance( program component score) is easily given even if not deserve. ISU puts emphasis more on jumps and how hard it is, rather than to how the whole program looks like. Yuzuru will always look effortless on intro/exit of his jumps, the transition and how he plays with the music yet judges will focus more of THE JUMP.

its true the PCS mark is a fucking joke. looking at complex full programs like Hanyu's, like Medvedeva's, like Kostornaia's vs. Trusova, vs Chen is a major gulf and should encompass far more of a difference

Nathan is just crushing it. WR holder for overall score, free skate score, and technical free skate score. He probably holds the record for most technical points for a single element as well (a jump combo).

One was crushing it only on the protocols (with the help from the judge$) already gone & forgotten... and other one is crushing it on the ice (with SOLD OUT SOLO ice shows) continuing making history as a Pro athlete, and adding even more difficult artistic & technical elements to his programs... that's the difference between real champion (G.O.A.T) and artificially created paper champion.

Nathan and Yuzu! Such great skaters and amazing sportsmanship. I hope nasty Fanyus and hardcore Nathan lovers stay off the negativity here. Both have revolutionized the sport in different ways. Right now, Nathan is the top in the world, but we’ll see what my favorite (Yuzu) brings, especially now that he will be at Japanese nationals!

Yuzu's still my mega-favorite (don't get me wrong), and I think his skating quality/passion is much better than Nathan's, but Nathan has had stronger jumps and complete dominance these last two years. @@ameliadettwyler514 If Chen did the same programs as Hanyu with all the difficult transitions with those quality, spins, step sequences and choreo sequences and choreographic movements Chen would never be as dominant as Hanyu. Landing jumps are just one thing, how to land those jumps is another. Chen is overscored on both GOEs and PCSs heavily. If you can't see that you don't know anything about this sport.

@@tsmith908 Oh I definitely agree with you. Yuzuru has made a mark and is still making a mark on figure skating that no one will ever be able to match. I know that the judges make wrong calls about Yuzu (under rotations when he is usually the best technician), and they give Nathan equal or higher GOE when he does equal or lesser quality than Yuzu on the same skills. Yuzuru also has an unmatched artistic ability, choreography, and musical interpretation. All I’m saying is that Chen is currently more dominant due to the past two undefeated years :)

Crazy how the free skate record for senior ladies was 166.62 but Sasha, Kamila and Anna have all since broken that record. I can't wait to see if it gets broken anytime soon. Jumping nearly 20 points to 185 is going to be hard to beat. (Along with Kamila breaking short program and combined as well :) )

i dont know what really is skating is all about , so i dont watch skating coz everytime i tried to watch it i really don"t understand their music i find it boring its not coordinated with their skates all i see is jumping , but when someone recommend me to watch kim then yuzurus skates , ,their skates captivated me..their artistry are superb, natan though has a very good jump and he is more athletic . i like them both but i like more on artistry. good lluck to both of them. sorry for my broken english🙃

Wow! Fantastic skating. I love the Junior Championship skaters (Dannii & Shun). They are cute miniatures that will overtake the current ones (which are fabulous too) in the next few years. Looking forward to it. Records are meant to be broken!

Nathan and Yuzu are both kings of completely different artistic styles and eras. Both are acceptable as greats. There's just way too much crying, whining, and undeserved trashing and back-handed compliments of Nathan in these comments from Yuzu fans. Grow up, sheesh.

The point is that Yuzuru Hanyu has won everything that is to be won on ice skating, including, something that only other skater has done before ,winning two olimpic gold medals. Nathan Chan as an excellent as he is ,he still needs to reach that level to be compare to Hanyu. Chen is an amazing skater and I have no doubt he will do great in the future.

Comparing with the skaters, we can see clearly, that: Nathan's heels are ugly, low and without distance. It is just absurd, that that horrible and forgettable free program has a world record. Thanks for the very revealing video. It shows, that not even the Eteri girls have GOE as inflated as Nathan's.

Your spite and very biased opinions are a complete joke...but, okay, miss expert. Nathan's Rocketman program was only "horrible" and "forgettable" to you because that's what you wish it was. His GOEs were very well-deserved in this performance. Those jumps were huge, tight and fast, and textbook perfect. His skating was very smooth and fluid, yet, precise and clean. He was just masterful with his technicalities. I like Yuzu. I happen to think he's an amazing talent...but I'm SO happy Nathan kicked his butt again this year because that's exactly what some of you nasty Yuzu fans deserve. Hope you enjoyed the @ss-kicking.

And without the inflations of his notes, he is nothing. That is the fact, that is the truth. I don't care about medals or their color. Nathan will always be boring, forgettable, no matter how many medals ISU gives him.

I could be wrong but if the jump/jumping pass is worth more than 10 points, it becomes up to 50% off the score.

@@omegacroc2928 :) thank you for your answer. What you said is right. After posting the question I went and read the scoring rule (not all :D). The GOE +-5 is the raw GOE, but the point add from the GOE for a jump is a % from the Base value of the jump. Raw GOE +5 will result in 50% BV added to the jump. So for a jump with BV higher than 10, the GOE point added may be higher than 5.

They changed the +3 system to +5 only to overscore Nathan and Nathan is the only skater who got +5.03 +5.19 +5.59 +5.75 max GOEs, even though 4Lo max GOE is +5.25 and Yuzu landed so many 4Lo but he never got +5.25, not even at Nationals and also 3A in the second half max GOE is +4.84 and Yuzu landed so many perfect 3A in the second half but he never got +4.84 max GOE

He looked bored b/c he got only 1.56 GOE for most complexed, difficult Stsq, no full marks for any 100% perfect jumps and spins... while stiff jumpers easily got 1.95 GOE for empty jumps & crossovers, more than bored, he was actually done with I$U. They never let him cross 111 under +5 system, if he was scored fairly, he deserved at least 114. They robbed him in all jumps, spins, stsq, and PCS

of course the scores will increase because of the higher scoring given on Quad jumps . I know only that I keep going back to Yuzuru's past performances ,after stumbling upon him on KZfaq. I actually missed the whole 12 years of Yuzuru's skating career because I stopped watching FS for that long. Life gets in the way:) I am only watching the history, now in year 2023, so my comments are way late. :) . I am amazed at the progress of figure skating sport , in the jumps especially; but I wonder how much damage these demands do on the bodies of these athletes. It is going to be hard staying competitive and on top for 10 years.

Recieivng +5 GOE means 50% of BV. Since 4F has BV of 10.50 or 11 (?) the 50% is naturally higher than 5..

When skater gets all +5 from all 9 judges, it adds 50% BV to the GOE, since they never gave any other skater all +5 except fed$ most favorite skater... no one got max GOE other than him, he was the only skater who got +5.03 +5.19 +5.59 and even +5.75 GOE. And max GOE for 4Lo is +5.25, but they never gave Yuzu all +5 so he never got more than 5 GOE for 4Lo, which he should and he deserved.

and even with all the ''gifted'' +5 GOEs TES and PCS, he's the most irrelevant reigning OGM in figure skating history, b/c most people prefer to watch what's good on the ice as a "complete package" as Yuzuru Hanyu, not just good on the inflated score sheets, as feds most overscored jumper.

PCS 93 = 194 Ilia (4A) 6 quads. BV 106. GOE 0. Jumps 86. TES 107. PCS 80 = 188 When both skaters fell twice. Nathan GOE 22. Jumps 102. TES 123. PCS 91 = 212 Yuzuru GOE 9. Jumps 76. TES 99. Nahan Chen is an amazing skater with a great future, however we could only compare Chen and Hanyu when Chen wins two golden medals in the Olimpic games, meawhile Yuzuru Hanyun is and will be the BEST FIGURE SKATER EVER. I am not putting down what Chen has achieved so far , but he still needs to prove himself as the best.

At this point, he already has. Yes, he has one Olympic gold versus Yuzuru's two, but he also has more world titles and let's not forget that he has been competing in senior for 6 years as opposed to Yuzuru's 12. To have won as many titles as he has in such a short period of time is truly remarkable. Not to mention his 3,5 year long undefeated streak. Yuzuru never achieved that level of dominance. So all in all, they each have some achievements that the other doesn't. At the same time, doesn't it sound funny if you call a skater the best ever, yet there is another skater who has been regularly beating him for the past 4 years? Isn't there something wrong with that picture?

Well, Nathan has been replaced with Ilia, so we cannot compare them anymore... Ilia is the new decided Olympic champion in 2026, meanwhile Yuzuru Hanyu has been added to the list of highest level athletes (Vital class level 4) he is the ONLY male figure skater who reached that level... so yes Yuzuru Hanyu is the BEST and he will remain the best figure skater of all time.

No doubt YUZURU HANYU is and will be the BEST FIGURE SKATER EVER. We cannot compare them b/c 1: chen doesn't have a career SUPER SLAM and 2: chen can never win 2 OGM, he has been REPLACED with Ilia (due to hip injury) that ended his career too soon. Ilia is the new fed$pet now and they will try to make him look better than the GOAT but only on the "inflated" score sheets...
