Who is DC Comics' Kalibak? Darkseid's Savage Eldest Son

This video explores the abilities, powers, and origin of the DC Comics character "Kalibak." From originally having constant skirmishes with his half-brother Orion, more recently being an indispensable Parademon leader within the Apokolips army, using his New god superpowers and functional immortality to wreak havoc on the foes of his father Darkseid, to being out-matched by his half-sister Grail and Big Barda during the Darkseid War; Let's take a look at this seemingly feral DC supervillain, and the powerful oldest son of Darkseid. This includes a short, canon character biography and my own opinionated "Sage Rating," which I use to give ratings of comic book and science fiction characters.

@@lro001 both are his biological Sons. Kalibak is the son of darkseid's first wife. The woman who darkseid's mother murdered. Orion with with high father while high Father's son who would later become Mister Miracle stayed with Darkseid

Darkseid's first son. I like to think that Darkseid treats him so badly because Kalibak reminds him of Suli, Kalibak's mother. Suli is the only woman Darkseid truly loved. Queen Hegra, Darkseid's mother, had her killed.

Everything about “Stephenwolf” in the zsjl should’ve been kalibak. His size and appearance, his stupidity but fighting ability, and the way he was desperate to prove himself to darkseid. The only this that was stepenwolf like was the axe (which they could’ve easily swapped for a mace

@Shawn Kuhn yeah but batmans whole thing is taking on guys out of his league (especially this sniderveres version of him, who does more comic book level martial arts feats) and obviously zack this batman is the coolest and wouldve probably wrote a way for batman to cleverly trick him. Kind of like they always write harley quinn or Damian wayne to be able to out trick opponents who should easily outpower them)

I think the best description for Kalibak I've ever heard was: in nearly any other setting he'd be S tier, but the scales go so high in DC that he's mostly just seen as a jobber

@@Getwright- Steppenwolf is just overall a better Kalibak in terms of power. He has everything Kalibak has (strength, durability, h2h, and speed) but better. He has more strength, speed, durability, h2h while also having more abilities, really good knowledge and intelligence, more skill, and better weapons.

They did? Steppenwolf was a general of Darkseid's army and fiercely loyal to the God of Evil. His portrayal in the Snydercut was pretty close to who he is in comics. Kalibak however is more of a stupid brute, which Steppenwolf clearly wasn't.

I keep wondering why Darkseid is so abusive towards the kid he has with the only person he ever loved. I've come up with some hypotheses: 1) Kalibak's mere presence serves as a reminder to Darkseid that he, the omnipotent Dread-Lord, could not prevent Suli from dying. 2) For all his vanity, Darkseid has a deep amount of self-loathing and grief buried inside his soul, and his evil will constantly tries to stamp that out by being cruel to the physical reminder that he could have experienced true happiness were it not for his mother's actions.

Grant Morrsion iirc said the hands are actually us the readers and writers , but he said himself that its up to interpretation so they could be another race of beyond everything else.
