Hallo Gregor, ich finde unglaublich, dass du als deinen if i had to pick one Bassisten den großartigen Niels Henning Orsted Pedersen genannt hast. Bestmögliche Wahl! Ich habe als Teenager Niels Henning Orsted Pedersen bei Bios Bahnhof gesehen, im Duett mit Allan Botschinsky (da gibt es auch eine wundervolle Duo Platte) und wusste dann was ich im Leben machen will: Kontrabass studieren. Kürzlich hat ja auch zu meiner Freude Rick Beato ein Video gemacht. Viele Kontrabassisten runzeln die Stirn über den nicht so akustischen Sound. Aber ich finde ihn wundervoll. Und die einzige Möglichkeit seine Technik so klar zur Geltung zu bringen. In einen Interview mit Oscar Peterson zu seinem Tod sagte dieser (sinngemäß): Niels didn´t play the bass - he was the bass. Aber dass er nicht E-Bass spielt stimmt so nicht. Z.B. ist er bei den Peter Herbolzheimer All Star Big-Band Platten (unfassbar geiles Zeug) auch mit dem E-Bass zu hören.
