Dari-Persian is the Original Authentic Persian of the Khorasanian Kings (the Tajiks). It was the Tajik/Persians of Khorasan modern day Afghanistan who created the modern persian language by changing pahlavi script using Arabic script in Khorasan for the love of islam & Quran(sharif).....All persian literature is in Dari language like shahnamah, persian poetries etc. If its Arabic-script its Dari. Pahlavi script was being used in tehran pars side, Dari language spread towards west in modern iran and east upto north india. Akhamaneshian empire were also arian tribe of khorasan like sassanians, samanids and ghorids. Balkh bastan is the birth place of old persian language and culture. In Afghanistan , we call all the Farsi speaking people Tajik , especially people from Kabul, Herat , Mazar( Balkh) and Badakhshan. In fact during Maulana's time most people spoke Farsi, not because of the Persian influence, it was because Farsi was the dominant language of the great the Khurasan . The Iranian didn't bring Farsi there, it was an existing language there. Furthermore, Maulana was born with this language. He was not taught Farsi by the Persians. He went through Iran before settling in Qunya for a short period of time( 3 Months). What makes him an Iranian? He never claimes his Identity as neither Iranian , nor Afghan . He was a boy from Khurasan, Balkh, today Afghanistan. He was a Tajik speaking Farsi, just like today all Farsi speaking people claim their heritage as Tajiks. Therefore I agree with Maulana being a Takij from Afghanistan, where his birthplace is still existing in Balkh-Afghanistan. Having said that, let's be proud of him as a Farsi poem and claim him as man of Khurasan land, a mystic who wrote in a common language of all of us., the Farsi language, not a Persian language.
