The 2024 NFL Draft is nearing, and the Pittsburgh Steelers are narrowing their focus.
While their full plans are not known, a position the team will be addressing is center.
But the question isn't which center is best, but which is the best fit for the black-and-gold?
It has come down to two main prospects...Jackson Powers-Johnson out of Oregon, or Zach Frazier out of West Virginia.

I agree with you. Take a top OT at 20 and then trade up for Frazier in the 2nd. The OL would be awesome.

Why take the 4th or 5th tackle and not the best center and day 1 starter when we have two tackles the Steelers at least like , and literally no center. History shows when we take an IOL in the first round = All Pro . 4th or 5th tackle off the board or any tackle , not great results . It’s a no brainer if JPJ is there you take him , Center is so underrated even by us who have been blessed with several great ones .

Excellent breakdown, my friend! I really like both talented young prospects. I would be thrilled with either one, because it's way past time for the Steelers to find their next legacy center. I will mention that JPJ had a few issues snapping the ball sporadically. As you concluded, Frazier is the slightly better value IMO.

As a Panthers fan we will be watching the Steelers first round pick. We are the two most center needy teams in the draft.

JPJ is the one! Absolute aggressiveness! Physical and quick feet with leverage recovery. He is the winner.

JPJ is fundamentally sound. Wish our roster was in a better position to take him at 20. Frazier looks nice but nothing is jumping out of the screen at me.

I think Powers-Johnson is the best Center. Younger and has not given up a sack yet in his career.

if you pass on C in rd. 1 then you better trade way up into rd. 2 to guarantee Frazier. Ganna cost the 3rd. rd. pick to get into 33-40 range

The Steelers need a RT and a C badly in this draft and they can fill both positions through the draft. Omar talked about how strong the Tackle class is. My dream is for them to fill the two holes with their 1st 2 picks

Zach seems more pro ready and polished. His needs of improvement seem to just be physical. JPJ has better physicality naturally and thus his ceiling seems higher. So, right now Zach is 1 JPJ is 1a. In two years it looks like it might be reversed. Both have pro bowl potential. Zach just seems to need more time in the weight room overall.

PS: I have run hundreds of mocks. One of the hardest things for me to do is get Zach in round 2. Overwhelmingly the easiest way to do that is to trade way down to the bottom of round 1 or top of round two. That allows me to get Zach and a CB capable of starting day 1. My next trade always has to be be Kiran Amegadjie. He slips down all of the time because of injury and lack of experience. BUT, he has pro bowl upside once healthy and coached up. That leaves us getting THREE day one impact players. Maybe easing them in slowly over a few games at worse.

I like both of these guys, and I've been drinking the JPJ kool-aid all off-season. But if they can get Zach Frazier in the 2nd, I don't think the drop off in talent will be that much. Better yet, if they could trade back with a team that needs a WR and pick up an additional 2nd or 3 and 6th, I say go for it.

Also JPJ had couple snap problems..Frazier def more polished of 2 and plays with better leverage.

Trade back from 20 to the 25-28 range. Gain more picks..possibly another 1st next year and take Frazier later. If they both are projected 10+ year starters

JPJ is the only Center, from the draft, who I see as an immediate upgrade over Cole. The rest will need to settle in and Frazier probably would be an upgrade by mid-season. That might be too late. I also see JPJ as having even more upside because of his inexperience and youth.

I'm not sure Zach Frazier will be there in the 2nd at #51. Taking him in the 1st at #20 IMO would be a huge reach. Maybe the Khan Man is working on a trade to move down a few spots, then take Frazier or JPJ towards the end of the 1st rd. But it's time the Steelers need to stop using a band-aid to fix the problem.

I'd wrather see see JC Latham in the 1st if he falls and possibly trade up for frazier in the second, depending on the board that would be AMAZING. The o-line would be set for a decade.

Zach is the local guy, JPJ isn't. Zach was a captain, JPJ wasn't. Zach's favorite team is Pittsburgh. I don't know JPJ's. Zach has been a center with more experience. JPJ only 1 year experience. Either will be a good fit, but Zach in my opinion is the local guy who won't let us down.

PIT should either draft a center or a tackle and fill the void via free agency. We cannot have to many development pieces in our O line.

Am I the only person who notices that he doesn't move the line of scrimmage? His pancakes take place behind the line of scrimmage. This won't happen against professional athletes. Pros are bigger, have more moves better balance and a deeper bag. Oh and they are more powerful and stronger. I have no idea how people think these guys are even close. But pittsburgh people love a struggle. smh

Jpj is way better Frazier is too weak he can barely stand collage bull rush much less the pros, jpj just pops off the tape and he is nasty and never goes backwards
