Absolutely, the guy was a steady 8, when we signed him I never knew who he is, after that I couldn't see why United didn't replace him with a clone! He was that good!

⁠@@5mysoluap978I think Everton was a tough job for anyone but my word did lamp stink that joint out. Gerrard did an undeniably solid job at Rangers but fell short at the top level with Villa. I don’t care if Scottish football is poor but going a full season undefeated in any league is impressive. Even Lampard did a top job at Chelsea in his first season but wasn’t ready for what came next. Rooney struggled massively in his first season at Derby but would’ve kept them up comfortably the following season if it wasn’t for the 21 point deduction and an owner who didn’t want the club. They were only 7 points from safety too which is mad. I think there’s decent managers in all three of them but they lack experience.

It's always going to be difficult when you arrive at a club who has had Robson, Ince, Beckham, Scholes, Keane etc. I think it took fans a while to understand exactly what Carrick brought to the team but on his day he was pure class and deserved his place in the Manchester United team. He's a great bloke and I wish him well @ Boro 👍

A thoughtful, disciplined and cognitive savvy Regista who played under a number of different coaches - a good starting position for a manager. Pep, Arteta and now Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen. Shouldn't be surprise if we'll see Busquet and/or Casemiro in the future.

everytime scholes was subbed on for carrick you would see one of the best passers of the last twenty years, Carrick smart player but he struggled to pass beyond 90 degrees.

Carrick took over the boro job when we was in relagation now look at the boro 3rd in the league 7 points in front of Luton in 4th and 4 points behind Sheffield United after closing in fast on a 14 point gap they had still work to be done but we are the mighty boro and we got super Michael Carrick and the amazing lads on the pitch and the boro fans utfb

@@bobbypukes605 Man your expectations are shite. Tuchel won a UCL and went to 2 domestic cup finals in 2 seasons. ETH won a trophy in his first season. LVG won a trophy.. so did Jose. 2nd is not an achievement. When Arsenal bottle the league nobody will remember in 15 years

Understandable but we have to balance things out so good English managers actually get given a chance at big teams but are also not gifted the jobs like you have suggested. It seems to be we swing one way or the other, when the middle is what would benefit both.

Frank Lampard earned his job at Chelsea due to what he achieved as a player there and the experience he has at the top level. Steven Gerrard earned his job at Aston Villa for what he did at Rangers and Eddie Howe earned his job at Newcastle for what he did ate Bournemouth... Dyche earned his job at Everton for what he did at Burnley so idk which English manager you're on about anyway

If Ralf hadn't been as outspoken as he was and didn't give the recommendation for Ten Hag, we would probably still be fighting for a Europa League place and not be a challenge City. Ralf unfortunately didn't do the best on the pitch, but off the pitch he played a part in setting things in motion for the rise of United again.

@@anirudhmenon9099 Carrick couldn't bear to continue as interim to replace Ole as manager after seeing Ole tears in the interview mentioning Carrick to replace him. "Carrick? :tears: i'll back him up :smile:" - ogs so he walk away not continue till the end of the season.

Wonderful player. When I used to sit in the North Stand, this bloke from the Wirral that hated Carrick. I used to get a commentary in my ear all game of just how bad he was all game. If he scored or assisted or did anything good, he should have done it better, or if someone else made a mistake it was because Carrick was on the pitch. It was like Souness with Pogba but worse. It used to drive me up the wall as he was outstanding virtually every game for 12 years! I'm glad he is able to show what he can do now at Middlesborough after being part of the Ole team and maybe getting lumped in with the they don't know what they are doing opinion.

Had potential at West Ham & learned from a lesson when Millwall beat them 4-1 at The Den & he copped a fair share of blame. Rapidly improved & then off to Manc. Become a decent & driven player yet didn’t get much highlighting at Man Utd. Other names seemed to get most the credit most the time. Looks very decent management material & has learned probably more than most of Alex Fergerson. M’Boro now look odds on to catch Sheffield United in my book for promotion. Good luck to him. - Millwall Supporter. 🦁👍🏻

This is the player that England should have built our midfield around. Needed a manager to realise Gerrard and Lampard didn't work together. You either drop one of them. Or play Lamps infront of Carrick and Gerrard and play 1 striker. Carrick a multiple prem champion made teams tick.

Unlike other ex players like Gerrard and Lampard who were great players, but they weren't smart players, therefore they don't make good managers. While Carrick you know he's got it in him to be a great manager, as he was never the most talented footballer, but he was a super smart player that made him one of the best midfielders and one of the most underrated midfielders.

To be fair, Frank did start out in the championship, which is where Carrick is starting his managerial career. Regardless, Frank is a dreadful manager. Surprising considering he’s meant to be an extremely intelligent bloke - couldn’t Inspire his players at Chelsea or Everton meaning he was bad at getting into players minds, and was a bad tactician. Really had nothing going for him.

Irrelevant now. In a way it’s good Ralf stayed on until the end of the season as we’ve now got EtH. Could of very well ended up with another Ole situation had Carrick come in as interim manager and exceeded everyone’s expectations.
