I just finished my first playthrough of TTYD and I can say that Yoshi is my favorite partner. Vivian and Bobbery are both phenomenal as well, but he’s just amazing. Not only is the idea of “little newborn child beats up fighting champ” super funny in the context of the chapter, you can also name him things and comes in colors (mine was black, but they’re all awesome!). I feel like he carries the most pride from his chapter also, calling Mario Gonzales all the time, which is something the other partners lack. His dialogue is also just very endearing to me. On top of all of this, I stand by the statement that he’s the most useful partner in combat by a long shot. The ONLY reason I beat the final boss after failed attempts with Vivian and Bobbery

My favorite partner character is probably Bobby. I know he doesn’t do much in battle and his design isn’t very unique being a regular Bob-omb without a fuse. But I really enjoyed his story and personality, and his sacrifice to save Olivia was pretty emotional.

My favorite Paper Mario partner is Yoshi Kid. Yes, I’m being bias since Yoshi is my favorite Mario character, but Yoshi Kid comes in multiple different colors and you can even name him! That makes him a 10/10 partner in my opinion. My second favorite partner is Ms. Mowz. She has a cool design and she’s useful for finding Star Pieces that I need to find in order to unlock concept art from the gallery

My personal favourites are Olivia , Bobby , Huey and Gombella . My big problem with TTDY Partners / 64 Partners is just that as soon as they join your party their arc just kinda ends and most of them dont have that much else to do over the course of the game , at least story wise . Gombella is the only partner I actually connected with and that felt like a genuine friend to the player . Dont get me wrong though , I still love TTYD and its Characters , this is just my personal opinion .

Yoshi Kid is easily my favourite. Of course, Yoshi overall is my favourite so there’s some bias, but being adorable in design, badass in character and flat out destructive in battle, more so with buffs, he just earns it. Vivian is my second favourite, for the unsurprisingly same reasons I’m pretty sure anyone else can say: she develops so well, she’s so pure in character, she’s just an absolute sweetheart and I love her. And you know what, bonus: I love Heuy from Color Splash. He’s not a top favourite, but he’s LEAGUES better than Kersti. He’s a bro, a respectable guy who just clicks with Mario so well. His dialogue is golden, he’s likeable, sorry to any Olivia fan, but he’s just the best modern companion.

Love that!!! Yoshi Kid is fantastic, his one liners are epic. Just a great choice.. Vivian is a G as welL!!! Huey is awesome.. I would have ranked him, but I wanted to see him in battle!!

I would say, after experiencing Thousand Year Door for the first time recently, Vivian easily climbed to my number one spot with Lady Bow right behind her!

Sushie has the best full screen attacks in the game with Tidal Wave. From a purely battle standpoint I think she's #3 or 4 after Bow, Watt, and about tied with Kooper.

It's too bad you didn't include Tippi from Super Paper Mario. Yes, she's a pixl, but she has one ability in battle, which is to tattle ennemies and give useful tips. Plus, her character development is one of, if not the absolute best in the entire series.

One thing that holds Vivian back is how awful Veil is, compared to Bow's Outta Sight Veil is just garbage

I thought Yoshi was capable of doing the most damage with his basic attack in TTYD? And I know this isn't a list purely defined by combat effectiveness, but I do think it's worth mentioning that Sushi is capable of the highest damage in a single turn in PM1. If at the very least, I think that's pretty cool =)

My favourite partner would have to be Lady Bow just for her personality, because unlike every other partner who are good people in the end, she is just an unapologetic asshole. Even after defeating Tubba Blubba, she says she’s gonna tell the other to not scare him anymore, but it’s more for self-preservation as she explicitly states she is not sorry. She also has my favourite design in the game. Overall she’s the most memorable partner in Paper Mario N64 for me.

I don't know why he says Koops falls off late game. Sure, Vivian's got a better overall attack-all move, but if you're conservative on FP, Koops is one of 2 partners who can attack while protected, even if it is only ground-level enemies. And sometimes you don't want explosions.

It feels weird that Huey and Kersti aren’t mentioned here, despite Olivia being mentioned. They both are heavily relevant to the plot, and technically help Mario in fights, specifically in the finale fights of the respective games. Don’t get me wrong, I hate Kersti, but it would have been nice to see her most likely at the bottom of the list.

My favourite is Vivian, She is so interesting. First he is fought alongside with the rest Shadow Sirens then she becames a playable character and in the end her relationship with her sisters becomes good.

Why would you want bobby to have a unique design the point of his character is to show that he isnt unique and is insignificant in the grand scheme of things but despite him just being another bobomb he can make an impact and stand out. I feel like bobby having a unique design would be contrary to everything the character is and would ruin him as a result

Randomly got this idea that couple of the female partners in the series just teamed up on their own adventure those being Goombella Vivian Lady Bow Kersti and Olivia There’s something I favorite of all of them (can’t say for Kersti since I’ve never played sticker Star but she’s female and in her own separate game so I added her anyway) Feel like even with these girls big differences they could really get along with each other Unrelated they were also gijinkas and idk why

First and second place are extremely close with Lady Bow beating out Goombella by just a bit. After that, Vivian, Ms Mowz and Parakerry round out my top 5

to include the „partners“ from origami king, but not the pixels which actually stay with you for the whole game and can help you in a fight is kind of a crime in my view

I was considering it! But, between not playing it for a while and also the fact they don't battle in combat.. It would have been an unfair comparison. I am considering doing them separately one day! And If I remake this video, I'll add them in!

Yoshi Kid will always be my favorite, first because it's a Yoshi, second because he comes in different colors, third he comes in one of the best TTYD chapters, and last but not least : he clearly is the best character in fight. In Paper Mario TTYD I have so much Power + Partners badges that he can one hit anyone in 100 pit trials with his standard attack or everyone with his Stampede --> 45 damages in one attack. No one comes close (my Goombella does 24 or 26 with her standard attack). Making partners stronger is a bigger advantage on Yoshi Kid than any other partner. I also love Goombella, Vivian and Lady Bow but Yoshi Kid is clearly the GOAT in my humble opinion. Nice video by the way !

Lady Bow is the best, and it's not even close! She's so good, they put her in the sequel. Man, I really would like to see her in action in a remake; just imagine the cute new poses and dialogue they could give her! To be honest, early Paper Mario really cooked with the female boo designs. Give is more and make some female shy guys too!

One thing I dislike about Origami King and how partners were handled in that game is that with the exception of the final boss, partners dont do anything against bosses at all.

Great ranking! My favorites per game are more or less: - Goombario, Bombette, Bow and Watt for 64; - Goombella, Yoshi Kid and Vivian for TTYD; - Olivia, Bobby and Professor Toad for Origami King.

I feel like saddly any partner at TOK is on inmediate disadvantage. Like Bowser gang joins you? That's cool!? Unfortunately they're temporal and not playable.

Swiftjar something just occur me we all know Nintendo put out recent surveys about Mario Rpgs and specifically Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door in general and I have a bit of worry that I'll end up like that Club Nintendo survey that Super Paper Mario had where 1% said the story wasn't even interesting Do you think It'll end up like that survey Are you having that worry as well I sure hope They didn't give that survey to bunch of kids or people who don't even know what they are talking about I really hope people did those surveys justice

I have separate tier lists for Gameplay Vs Characterization, but ranking solely based on characterization; my top 5 are 5) Yoshi Kid 4) Watt 3) Admiral Bobbery 2) Bow 1) Vivian While the Pixls I agree with more or less treating them the same, they'd all tie for #6 for me. Additionally, everyone knows dead last is Kersti.

Goombella might be the worst in her own game. Outside of tattling and such, her offensive ability is extremely limited especially with the likes of Vivian/Flurrie/Bobbery/Yoshi Kid in her own game(Mowz can also pierce defenses, something Goombella can't do)

Goombella is arguably the best partner both damage and utility wise! Her headbonk damage scales really well with power boosting badges and items since it hits twice, has multibonk to match Mario's power bounce, and rally wink lets Mario go twice! Imo only Yoshi and mayyyybe Koops compares in TTYD.

What?! She's the best partner easily; I used her for almost every fight without switching. Her best ability is to give Mario (the best character) another turn.

@@djdrizzy9139 nah, why use Rally Wink when you can have Mario go Power Lift then Vivian/Bobbery/Yoshi Kid whip enemies. Only Goombella simps think she’s tops(even Mowz is a better attack option). Being able to go after multiple enemies is all but essential in TTYD

@@DarkKirby14LP Bruh, your comment is full of logical fallacies lol. Mario can power up and attack all enemies himself, or use strong single target moves. This is especially effective with danger Mario strats, which is something you seem unaware of. Are speed runners simps when they use Gombella to speed through battles due to her ability? Nope, she's just the best for a reason.
