Next challenge. Return to base. All 4 challengers dropped in separate locations and need to return to the a central base before the others. To truely make it a challenge they are not told where they are dropped off. Using a map and compass they need to find out where they are and how to get back. Works best in the countryside where they are no street names to give them clues on where they are. Need to use the landscape to work it out

@@Thegardener87 They prob want to be in London or Manchester then... In south Manchester, look how close Sale Water, Stretford, Alexandra and South Manchester [Platt Fields] are: you can do a route including all of the 4 courses and between them in under 30k. Then Fletcher Moss and Burnage aren't far away either; add them and you can get 6 parkrun courses in one 45km route.

I did an out and back challenge for my running mates which would be fun to see you guys do :o): Each runner has 30 minutes to do an out and back run and finish as close to your start point as possible. The person closest to their start point at exactly 30 minutes is the winner. The catch is, 20 minutes should be ran out and only 10 back. This is a good chance to push yourself and work on a bit of speed. A point system will be used to tally the results, every 0.1 mile is 1 point and of course, the aim is to have as few as possible. In the event of a draw, the person who ran the farthest overall distance will take the win, so going very slow at the beginning to gain an advantage, could end up losing you the challenge. The exact route out should be used for returning back to the start. Only one turn is permitted which happens at the 20th minute Filling time up and down streets or doing loops is not allowed.

This was cool! I've been watching the Running Channel from almost the beginning I've noticed that low HR training, particularly Maffetone training (MAF) isn't something that's been covered in much detail (or at all?). I've been running at MAF for 11 months now and it's been the best thing to ever happen to my running. So here's the challenge: one or more of the Running Channel team to commit to training with Maffetone for a 3 month period and to document the journey in a weekly update video. I know it's not the most exciting challenge ever, certainly one that's impossible to do in just one video but I think it would be really interesting to see how different members of the team adapt. It's helped me improve so much and I'm sure it can others as well.

Challenge suggestion. You cast votes each one of you individually how far the other three would reach in 30 minutes and then you take an average of the three votes to get the suggested distance per person. Then you start each one at your given distance and first one to goal line win. Or if you run at different locations just best time vs your set time for the distance win.

Great video. Next challenge could be a bit like biathlon. Every runner needs to do five laps in a 5k run. After every lap they need to pause to throw five balls into five buckets (one ball per bucket). Every time the runners miss a bucket they need to go on a penalty lap of 100m.

My challenge would be Monopoly - you’ve got one hour to run round London visiting as many places as you can on the Monopoly board. The winner is the person who racks up the biggest ‘value’ of properties.

Hi guys, challenge accepted thought. How about a handicap 10 or 5 km race, where the faster presenters have either times added to their running or start at a later time to equalise the runners. A track run could be good to see if the faster runners could catch the 🐢 Rick....😁

Challenge Idea: 5K + 5K does it equal 10K - have each person run two 5K runs (without watches over two days) and then run a 10K a few days later. the person with the closest combined 5K times to the 10K time wins. Runs should be on known routes with measured distances so no need for folks to pace themselves on their watches. This is old school run pacing on your own feeling.

Challenge Idea: Each Contestant gets a certain fast pace (Andy 3:30, Kate 4:00 Rick and Anna 4:30) and try to run at that pace for the most time possible.

Downhill Challenge: Without travelling more than 25 miles to a location, plot a 5K with the most downhill element. Points for most decrease in elevation or overall drop, and lastly points for largest improvement over the participant's 2019 best 5K time.

Challenge idea: You are all dropped off 5km from a target location. However, you have not had the opportunity to plan your route. Who can make it to the target the fastest without gps, maps, asking for directions, or any other assistance.

Well done Andy 👏 I think the next challenge should be who can climb the highest in an allotted time period ! So Andy gets 30 minutes, Kate gets 40 and Anna and Rick get 60 minutes. 👍

My Challenge suggestion is a backyard ultra, each in their own backyard but obviously running the same distance per hour, lets say 6km in the hour with rest and aid for the remaining minutes of that hour, then on to the next 6km and so on and so forth...similar to Anna's backyard marathon but until the last man/woman is standing.

Would love to see a climb a mountain challenge. With a handicap time each runs to the top of a steep mountain. It doesn’t have to be a UTB type mountain but at least 10km and a decent gradient. This way it is like the hare and turtle type race and the challenge for the faster runners to see the tortoise and chase them down.

Challenge idea Who can run the fastest 5km the whole time backwards. The challenge being because you can only see what's technically behind (infront depending on how you look at this challenge by occasionally turning your head) those who are normally faster runners (looking at Andy or Kate here) have to care about their surroundings a bit more than normal. This may give Anna and Rick more of a chance to gain some points as all parties are a bit more equal here 😜
