Mark was blessed to have hung out and interacted in Boston and New York with some of the great musicians of the 20th Century. My God...Keith Jarrett, Chick Corea, Bill Evans, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Gary Burton, Paul Bley, Ornette Coleman, Don Cherry, Gary Peacock. Mikey...this is kind of a who's who of important American jazz music of the 20th Century! So he really understands how musicians think and feel. He understands the life energy, the essence of how a player's soul is expressed through their instrument. When they played what shined through was that their labor of love was their love of the labor of continual practice and devotion to the craft of music making. Mastering all the elements of music be it harmony, rhythm, melody, intonation, etc. What these require is a love and devotion to the craft. Endless hours of sitting alone in a practice room not earning money as you mastered all of these skills. Mark has transferred those emotions and experiences do the world of sound design through electronics and acoustics. His start place is the ending place - making his equipment sound as close as possible to live music.

Such an interesting and fascinating man, Mark Levinson is. I hung on to each and every word he uttered with pleasure. And Mikey, thank you for setting aside ego and thereby allow Mark to go on uninterrupted. You are an excellent interviewer and I'm eagerly awaiting Part 2!

Mikey, Thanks for doing this deep dive in to Mark Levinson's musical journey. His stories really resonated with me as I attended Berklee of College of Music and lived in NYC back in the day. Looking forward to part 2.

Very cool, Mikey and Mark. Mark played with Sonny Rollins?! Very impressive musical resume overall, and he saw legends play. Makes sense though, as Mark is a legend too. Was great hearing those stories from Mark. Herb Pomeroy used to do clinics for my high school jazz band. I used to hang out at Berklee a lot, cuz I had friends going there. I got accepted but went on tour instead…lol Fantastic chat between you guys. Thanks
