Who is Tink Hence and how soon could he be a factor for the St. Louis Cardinals?

Brenden Schaeffer discusses the Cardinals' pitching prospect Tink Hence after a couple of commenters in Friday's live stream asked about him.
One such commenter wanted to know whether I would predict that Hence, who struck out eight hitters in his last Double-A outing, would make the Opening Day rotation as early as next year.
That question gets answered as we also more generally dig into the importance of having Hence--or someone like him--rise up into a prominent starting role in St. Louis in order to help the Cardinals settle into a better position of strength when approaching their pitching needs at fulcrum points like free agency and the trade deadline each year.

He's definitely one to watch this season. We need some of these starters to pan out FOR US for a change. The organization is aware of the problem and now they'd better fix it. Wirhout a few bad trades we'd have the best rotation in baseball right now.

Quinn Mathews, their 4th rounder last year just threw 5 IP 1 h 11 k his last time out for Palm Beach. So far, 17 SO in 8 1/3 IP, 1.08 ERA. Pretty good start to his career.

I said it before, and after today, I will turn the game off as soon as Pallante is announced. The fact Oli keeps going to him is irritating. I don't want to hear how he gets lefties out. Thompson should have relieved instead of Liberatore or Pallante. I would rather see Hence, Hjerpe , Graceffo, anybody but Pallante. After brief hope we are back to 2023.

Both of those pitchers would have been better with a Duncan caliber pitching coach. They probably would have figured out that with a little maturity that Hicks could be a starter. Pallante and Liberatore need to go down and bring up Robertson. After all, we traded O'Neill for him and Santos 🤔

@jirikurto3859 Not sure who that was directed at, but I never wanted to trade Winn and even said his hitting would improve. I wanted to trade Edman before it was revealed that he was hurt. I just think Edman is a good player, that someone would want and we have players to replace him. We don't need Crawford with Saggese and Prieto in the wings.
