Who killed Pablo Escobar? The hit show Narcos on Netflix was inspired by the most powerful drug dealer of all time named Pablo Escobar and these two DEA agents Steve Murphy and Javier Peña.

About DEA agents Steve Murphy and Javier Pena:
You may have seen TV shows and documentaries, or read books about the world’s wealthiest, and most violent drug trafficker, but now you have the opportunity to hear the real story of what happened in the investigation of Pablo Escobar and the Medellin Cartel.
DEA special agents Javier Peña and Steve Murphy were assigned as the lead investigators targeting Escobar and his organization. These true American heroes provide a first-hand lesson in history as they discuss their efforts bringing down the world’s first narco-terrorist, the challenges they faced in oftentimes hostile and life-threatening environments, and the innovative strategies they employed to successfully end the reign of terror of the world’s most wanted criminal. Their presentation is followed by a Q&A opportunity during which Javier and Steve will entertain questions related to their investigation, the making of Narcos, what history changing investigation is next for them, and more.

Its a circus. North America being mightier dominating the drug move and kill any competition. They even create competition to make it look defeating that competition. NA is next level, they really think they are supreme and the top top best biggest big. Thats why they are involved everywhere.. Why does only America has the right to do those things, have equality already. Have German DEA Member investigate in America and so on

Good interview. I’ve never understood guys like Escobar. He earned more money in a year than he could EVER spend. Yet it was never enough. He could have retired after a year or two and lived his best life but the ego wouldn’t let him.

He probably loved power too much and also that he could be violent like he wanted bc he was untouchable with all that money He might’ve just loved the thrill of playing everyone and just being king yk? Imagine giving all that up, losing all your money + all the other drug lords would come after him if he’d stopped I mean yeah I don’t „get him either“ but yk what i mean? Like I can „understand“ why he didn’t just stopped Not saying I say what he did was good AT ALL lma

That was my biggest take away. So many innocent people lost their lives behind Pablo Escobar. He had enough money to completely rebuild and change the history of his city. But he chose to live like a King in excess and enjoyed the spoils of blood money.

The point is that is who he was from young. It was a way of life for him. He tried and no one would listen. So naturally back a lion into a corner it attacks. Pablos murder and damage amount if you had to put it in cash value is about 0.00023% of all of America (AND THAT JUST WITHIN AMERICA) worldwide America has cause approximated 7.7 billion % the damage Pablo has. That’s % not $ so put that in perspective

It’s crazy how far Pablo went with the drugs and money, I truly wonder if it was because of his background growing up in the streets of Colombia. Or him just wanting to take care of those around him…. Not excuses his actions at all none of that was necessary, the world would have been under so much heartache if he was still alive. He created something that might never go away.

He was. A POS, many others grow up like him and don't go around killing so many innocent people. He was a terrorist, and that's why they wanted him more then just being a cartel, also if he just wanted to provide for his family why didn't he quit after he had 50 million dollars, that's enough for generations of your family to live nicely off but he didn't quit cuz he was a scumbag criminal and had a huge ego

Would certainly be an interesting conversation. Business was just business at the end of the day these guys are the soldiers of the war on drugs not the leaders. Popeye, Murphy, and pena would absolutely fascinating to have answering the same questions but see how which narrative one subscribes and decisions we make creates our reality. Then see how their views now have changed since they have now had time away to reflect back on their actions and motives. That conversation would invoke some serious thought if not a real world theory, study, or thesis.

You envy them standing next to Colombian National police and doing nothing while the CNP killed little kids to send their own message to the people of the barrios not to work with Pablo? I’m not saying Pena and Murphy were bad people, It wasn’t their jurisdiction and they weren’t in any position to do anything about it…taking down Pablo would have ended most of the chaos, but I am saying I wouldn’t trade places with them for anything in the world. I have enough trouble sleeping as it is having pulled 3 tours in the sandbox (US Army ret.) and my 2 years as a contract operator. At the height of the narcotics wars, the CNP and Mexican Federales the DEA had to work with were not much better than the sicarios, narco gangs, or cartels they were going after……hell the CNP shot up nightclubs and killed dozens on innocent people at times just to get a couple sicarios that were drinking at one table.

I remember those days. At the time I was stationed in Maracaibo, Venezuela working out of the Consulate. One hour from the Colombian border and a very dangerous place. We got a death threat about once a week, had my windshield shot out & was assaulted on the street once. Lots of fun, flew to Bogota & Medellin very often. A great time.

Drugs= trillion dollar industry. With that much money changing hands, there is a lot of room for a bunch of people to get crazy wealthy, and without ever having to step on someone else's toes. Especially after a business model or enterprise has already been established, yeah someone might manage to take out the head guy, but the established structure just allows one of their captains or generals to just take his place, and keep that money flow paying. If, and huge IF, the entire empire is collapsed, that just leaves a vacuum for a whole new group to fill that void. Unsurprisingly, if the first empire was already violent and ruthless and made that clear to everyone, yet still gets brought down, that just signals the next group that they will have to be even more violent and more ruthless if they hope to survive longer.
@sinare-9090
@sinare-9090 3 жыл бұрын
@Spen Cycles The United Nations office on Drugs and Crimes World Drug Report 2005 estimated a global illicit drugs market of US$321.6 billion in 2003 alone. That's 17 years ago. With the increased population, the explosive opioid epidemic that's happened over the last few years, I would think it's pretty save to say that it's closer to a trillion than not.
@sinare-9090
@sinare-9090 3 жыл бұрын
@Spen Cycles drug prices differ from state to state as well as drug to drug. The figure I posted doesn't come from any particular law enforcement agency nor even a U.S. agency. From the same report I cited, $321.6 billion was about 1% of the total world GDP which was 36 trillion that same year. So if we just use that 1% figure, the total world GDP in 2019 was 142 trillion. So 1% of that would be well over a trillion dollars. We can go back and forth and argue figures a day a night. Regardless, we aren't talking about a few billion dollars a year but hundreds upon hundreds of billions a year.

It was the PEPEs... without a doubt. The morning of Dec 2, 1993, hours before Pablo was killed, a dead body was found with signs of torture in a residential area of Medellin. It was the body of the son of Pablo's cousin/partner Gustavo. The young man had arrived from Europe a week prior in order to meet secretly with Pablo. The PEPE's caught wind of this ("Shout out to those intelligence analysts", says Peña), captured him, tortured him until he gave up Pablo's location, then executed the innocent young man. The PEPEs, disguised as Colombian National Police as was their MO, then hightailed it to Pablo's location and took him out . The man who almost certainly pulled the trigger is alias "Semilla", the brother of alias "Don Berna", one of the PEPEs founders. I was skeptical of this version of the story until I myself saw the grave of the young man Gustavo "Gustavito" Gaviria Restrepo a few feet from Pablo's grave. .... Guess the date on the the young man's gravestone.... Dec 2, 1993.
