I think the quality (creaminess and taste) of Guittard far exceeds the others. I believe Guittard is the chocolate Sees uses.

Loving the Who Makes THE BEST series! 🙌🙌 You and Kevin have some serious taste testing skills. According to many recipe blogs and Crumbl employee comments online you are right about Crumbl using Guittard chips! For a while I was obsesssed with making the perfect chocolate chip cookie, and one tip I learned was to mix different brands and types (bar, chip, chunk) together to add variety in taste and texture; that way you get some melty and some more firm.

I love these comparison videos... and this one was awesome! I’m most impressed that you, Tami, were able to identify the chip that Crumbl uses. You have some serious food review skills (as does Kevin). Companies would pay you well to be taste-testers.

We've noticed the milk chocolate chips are pretty similar between brands. Semi-sweet are very different though. Especially Ghiradelli vs Aldi vs Nestle. It's also funny but we like certain brands for baking and certain brands for eating straight.

OH this is wonderful Tami and Kevin!! We have been hoping to do this as well, as we know they absolutely make a difference!! We have found the best were milk chocolate Ghiradelli, but so excited to watch your review! Would you consider doing the same for Vanilla and Chocolate frostings??

Tami...Crumbl does use the Guittard brand milk chocolate chips in their Chocolate Chip Cookies.

Thanks for the video! I’ve heard that See’s uses a special formula of chocolate from Guittard. My husband said it makes sense that I love Guittard since I grew up eating See’s.

Go to a baking supply store and get the big chocolate melting discs for chocolate chip cookies. The discs melt into the cookie dough as they bake...YUM!!!!

Happy to see this, I recently bought the ALDIs brand and wondered if, because the price is so much lower, the quality was less. Now I’m confident it’s good to bake.

My mom has actually come to prefer the Aldi brand of both semi sweet and dark chocolate over other brands! Aldis specialty selected semi sweet chunks (in the black bags) are fantastic too!!

Trader Joe’s are a great price and super creamy too. We really have liked the good n gather and you can ever go wrong with Nestle when it’s on sale. Loved this review so much. I love the comparison videos

I really appreciate this!!! Glad you included the guittard brand as well as my cousin swears they are the best and worth the money… lol I used to do similar tests at work… the results are always interesting… I love the idea of baking cookies with them to see if that changes things!!! I’d love to see a yellow cake mix taste test… pilsbury, Betty crocker, Duncan Hines and a generic? I understand if that’s too much baking… thank you again for testing the chocolate chips!!!

What a neat idea for a blind taste test!! So enjoyed it! As a kid, I remember my mom not wanting to pay more than $2.50 for Nestle chips. She said that was a “good” price - too funny that the Target brand cost that much!! It would be interesting to see if your preferences stay the same when comparing various brands of semi sweet and/or white chocolate! Thanks for the fun review!!

What a great series this is. I don't think I've ever bought milk chocolate chips 😂 but I think there's a huge difference between semisweet store brand, nestle tollhouse, and Ghirardelli. And I thought there was a big difference between those and Godiva baking chips but I didn't get to do a direct comparison with the Godiva. Great video 😁

Hi .....so I've always liked the milk chocolate chip cookie from crumble. But when I tried the semi sweet chocolate cookie from crumble. I don't know if it was because they had the chips on top and they were warm but it tasted so good to me. I went back the next day to try again . I loved them to we're I could get sick from eating them. Go figure!. Lol... thanks for the review!

This was fascinating. Thank you very much, and I appreciate the comparison to the Crumbl Cookie. Interesting note, we find the store by us to produce average chocolate chip cookies at best. A lot of variation among franchisees it seems.

It;s interesting that they all taste the same(I agree with you) considering some use cane sugar and others use plain sugar and some use vanilla and others do not. And other ingredients are different as well

It’s not as sweet as milk chocolate. It’s in-between milk & dark.

Typically I either buy the Nestle or Aldi brand. (Though semi-sweet is my go-to, I understand why you went with milk chocolate!) I'm never disappointed by them. I've heard so many things about the Ghirardelli and Guittard, but for the amount of cookies and desserts I bake for people, I don't have the budget for it. (Especially since I give away everything pretty much) I would love to see more baking item comparisons; I'm honestly biased on what I use (even my flour!) so I'd love to hear your opinions on other things!

I’m wondering if all flavors of Guittard are as big as the milk chocolate. If so, it really makes a difference. That’s what keeps me ordering a chocolate chip from Crumbl every week.

I got the Kroger milk chocolate chips to make cookies they were not good I got the store brand to save money . next time I'll spend the extra money for better taste.

Guittard's semi sweet chips make the best chocolate chip cookies. However their milk chocolate chips are a big letdown and definitely not worth the price premium. Strange that the better chocolate chip makers haven't kept up with the better candy bar makers that have come out in the past several years with premium milk chocolate bars.
