He tried to flee to Dubai earlier this morning, but was stopped by his own immigration officers. He was not allowed to aboard through the VIP section. He refused to leave through regular none-vip gate. Meanwhile he lost 4 different flights to Dubai. Currently he is still in the country.

I hope even if they flee they all will be captured and brought to justice, these thieves should know they have no place to hide. No country on earth should be safe harbor for them!

Brother you make a fairly valid point but to some extent. Yes there is no magic wand to get things fixed quick, but we have to start somewhere. The rajapakshas have been in power for close to 20 years (and has been in politics since the 1930s), I am 26 years old so i didnt have any idea of what was going on back then and I didnt have the ability to vote till recently. The older generation in my country has had a very narrow mind and is more biased towards a political party than the ability of a individual which has led us to this point. Also they arent very tech savy and would believe anything that the media (which is also the rajapakshas very own propaganda machine) portrays. They have convinced the people that they can do no wrong and anyone that had tried to outs them for their corruption ,scandals and the murders they had been apart of was swiftly killed and silenced. It is my generation that has realized we have the power to make a change as well as show the older people both sides of the page. Also you are completely wrong about the fertilizer ban, there was literally no one who was for the ban of it, even a 7th grader would understand what would happen due to the ban. What has happened in the country right now is just the beginning for us to retake power as the people and get get rid of all corruption, as well as make sure everyone who is appointed is the most qualified person to do the job. We arent looking for a "quick fix", we are looking for a permanent fix that would put our country in a better position than it was 20 odd years ago and to be a self sufficient nation. As an American from the outside looking in, this is how it appears to me as well (and not only in Sri Lanka but also the Philippines for example). The problem is, you can overturn a government a thousand times, but what’s the point if 1. You are just going to replace the offender with a family member or close ally and 2. You won’t give your own plan/vote time to play out? I feel bad for Sri Lankans because I think as a people they’ve been oppressed for so long, they’re just desperate and don’t know what to do.
