This song reminds me of my father. He used to sing when he cleaned the house. This song was on his Playlist. He passed in 2017 and he was my best friend. Thanks for uploading it!

God had to have given us Mel Tillis. He was one of a kind and his influence will be felt for many years to come. He was a bright, shining star for decades. I am in Mulberry, Florida, about ten miles from Plant City where Mel Tillis began school at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School. This was a very, very humble man, who was still clever and intelligent and turned stuttering into someone people understood and respect. Some do not know this, but he wrote many songs sung by other entertainers, not only in country music. I know people who met him and they told me he was a common and simple guy who did not reveal how special he was.

I believe Mel wrote Detroit City. Web Peirce told Mel he would never make any money if he didn't let him record his songs. And give him half the song writers rites to thr songs. Mell told him NO and wrote 4 number 1 songs right after that too.

Lyrics: Cross the table over coffee just this morning My woman caught me by surprice without a warning She said honey you talked in your sleep and then she began to weep And she said tell me now and tell me truly who's Julie [ strings ] With a blank look on my face I searched my mind For an answer or excuse of some kind But the words wouldn't come and my mind was blank slowly my head just sank When she said honey you know I love you truly but who's Julie Oh Julie what's this hold you've got on me On my mind in my dreams you know you shouldn't be there Julie [ choir ] I'd like to say Julie's just a friend of mine But I know that would not satisfy your mind You see Julie gave me something you did not she remembered what you forgot And honey I'm sorry I have to tell you so cruely But now you know and don't you ever ask me again who's Julie mhm

I go to visit my grandparents everyday and I have forever. Well they live a town or so over from me so when my mom gets off work, my pop used to have to take me to meet her and go home. On the way there we used to always listen to this song on a greatest hits cd

Julie my son was going to be named Julie from this song but out came another boy. ♡
@julieblack2178 Жыл бұрын
@@ritaammons639 Aww! ❤ When my mom first told me I was named after this song, my reaction was a little mixed. I said, "You named me after a cheating song?!". She rushed to tell me that she loved Mel Tillis and his music but I was also named after a song by Bobby Sherman "Julie, Do You Love Me?". That seemed to placate my younger self. As a teen and an adult I absolutely love Mel Tillis. I was lucky to see him with my parents I believe in Branson, Missouri before he passed. Such a great show and a great man.

@@ritaammons639 Thank you so much, Rita. My parents are gone now, and I cherish all my memories with them. Mom gave me my love of music. She told me more than once I was born in the wrong decade due to my music preferences (I was born in 1975). I'm a big fan of 60's and classic country music.
