Would you have a problem with someone dating your mom?

I don't think it has anything to do with whether it's dating a friend's or employee's mom that's the issue for Pam. You've seen more than 5 seasons of this dude in action. You know Michael Scott.

I love how Michael immediately proves why it’s not ok that he’s dating Pam’s mom. Exposing their private business, talking to her about her mom, scolding her on behalf of her mom. Like I would HATE that.

Starting off the episode with a guy who created a character called Blind Guy McSqueeze who basically harasses women in his improv class and then supporting this dude dating your mom is insane. Y'all are weird af.

I’m genuinely surprised that y’all are on Michael’s side. If I found out that my boss, who I’ve known for years and who has made numerous sexual comments toward me, hooked up with my mom AT MY WEDDING, I would be just as angry as Pam. It feels very weird and invasive. She’s his employee.

Pam is definitely not overreacting. Have y'all seen how Michael treats most of his romantic prospects? Photoshopping himself into family pics after a few dates or insulting a woman to her face during a date (Pam's landlord). And just how inappropriate he is with most women in general, like his frequent sexual comments towards Pam. She's also close to giving birth and imagine Michael Scott playing grandpa to your baby while you've just given birth. There are no boundaries with that man.

No way. Pam knows Michael's history with women but also with the human race in general. She did not overreact. He is openly and clearly a disaster. As for keeping it private. Michael lives out loud. She had no choice but to react loudly in the moment.

The two scenes, Jim finding out, and then Pam finding out, are two of my favorite scenes in the entire series. Two things stand out. The sound of Michale rhythmically smacking the table, and the growing look of horror on Pam’s face are two of the funniest things ever on this show.

I think this is the first time Jim had raised his voice with Michael with the “then take a different route” line, and given all the crazy stuff Michael stuff has done over the year and Jim has been calm, you know it’s bad lol

Your boss dating your mom is bad enough, but MICHAEL SCOTT being your boss and dating your mother? Michael crossed so many lines here from bringing up his intimate relationship at work to attempting to leverage his intimate relationship to coerce an employee to do something unrelated to work. None of you would last a single day listening to Michael make innuendos about your mom right in front of you while you had to stay and listen without hitting your boss, lest you lose your paycheck and health insurance.

If I found out my boss was dating a parent I would not be happy about it. It makes things awkward. I wouldn’t freak out and demand they break up but I would express my concerns and make it clear that they aren’t allowed to pull me into any drama. If my boss was Michael Scott I would be less considerate. And frantic Jim is my favorite Jim.

Keep in mind Michael is not a regular boss, lol. I definitely would not be happy if my mom brought home my boss who regularly makes gross comments towards me and who’s possibly told others that we dated in the past. Michael’s shown over the years that he has absolutely no boundaries. Plus who wants to spend the holidays with “blind guy mcsqueezy,“ lol. Pam’s mom also just got dumped after probably at least 25-30 year marriage, she’s probably not in a great headspace for making relationship decisions so I would be concerned for her too if I had seen Michael in action in the past, lol. She can make her own decisions but we would be having a talk, that’s for sure, lol.

I think Suraj is more right on this: it's cuz it's her weird boss, that's why Pam is so upset about it. Michael is funny to watch but if that was my boss, I would probably report him to HR and quickly find another job and just stay the hell away from him for the rest of my life. He's very inappropriate, weird and obnoxious...not evil but some of the stuff he's done or said is really really OFF. Pam has to put up with it at work cuz she needs the job (apparently there are no other receptionist jobs available in Scranton) but then now she has to deal with the possibility that he could become her stepdad, forever esconced in her life in a familial way. That's like the stuff of nightmares. Anyway, lol, can't wait to see you guys watch Pam's worst nightmare play out. I wonder if Chris will change his mind on this issue later. 😂

Any normal person who has seen what Michael Scott is like would definitely not want anyone they care about get involved with him, for their own safety... much less if it's their mother. So, you guys would be cool with MICHAEL FREAKING SCOTT dating your mother? It’s like without Pat, they all have to fill in as the resident contrarian and root for the one obviously in the wrong here. First off, he’s her boss and that already crossed a few lines, especially when he a) revealed it in the workplace and b) used that relationship to try and influence another employee into doing what he wanted. Secondly, he’s Michael Scott, Pam has seen how Michael lets all his relationships implode in on themselves and how for the worst it sometimes leave those women, especially Jan who pretty much went crazy and lost her job. Pam doesn’t want that for her mother. And thirdly, he’s MICHAEL SCOTT! Love the guy, he’s funny, and he tries, but there is a reason all his relationships crumbled, with the only exception being Holly because that was done because of David Wallace transferring her. He has shown countless times that he is inappropriate, such as announcing, and flaunting, his private relationships to feel better about himself, has no concept of boundaries, such as Blind Guy McSqueezy, photoshopping his face over Carol’s ex-husband’s, and dating a co-workers relative, that same co-worker also being one he made several sexual innuendos and even proposed a deal that if she and he haven’t had kids by a certain time that they would have each other’s. No, Pam is not in the wrong. A Tad little overreacting a bit, but not in the wrong. This, in my opinion, was one of Michael’s gravest offenses in the whole series, and you can’t convince me otherwise. P.S. to that guy spamming the same pro-Michael comments, don’t even bother.

Anyone whose parents get divorced usually has hope for them to get back together and becomes insecure about accepting any other partner for them, in Pam's case that alone would've been a cause for concern, but for it to be her boss and for that boss to be Michael Scott, her shock was tripled.

Maybe I’m crazy but I don’t think Pam is wrong at all. Michael is constantly bringing his personal issues to work and having outbursts he puts on everyone else. Even when he means well it’s how he does it that’s the issue. It’s not a matter of his happiness it’s the boundaries he crosses to get there. It’s not he’s “just dating her mom.” He wants so badly to force himself in her life. If the mom is happy good for her but everyone in that office deserves a chance to yell at Michael He’s also admitted to being attracted to Pam so it’s creepy on that front too.
