@@psychorious no i think your analysis was fair! my only comment would be re: jongho being a cautious dancer, i think it's probably so he doesn't reinjure his leg (tho tbh i haven't seen many of his earlier fancams, so i don't have a good baseline for comparison)

@@psychorious I think he has such a difficult task because he is the main vocalist. I am always impressed by the fact that he can sing and jump back into the choreography smoothly and he doesn't have that leeway to shine in his dancing because he's working so hard as the vocalist. I agree with @Peony Laskspur. Jongho always has that "I'm gonna murder you" look because that's the look he's familiar with to express his emotions towards the songs he's singing. You tend to forget about him too because your eyes are on the the other members like San, Hongjoong & Seonghwa (demon line) but then his crazy vocals draw you back to Jongho....and then you are again awed by his amazing vocals....and so happy that he is with Ateez!

no you described it well :) Yunho focuses a lot on executing the steps correctly which isn't an issue when judging/analyzing the "actual steps", but yeah as a dancer you do want to show your own unique style. About San: yeah I was quite hesitant when analyzing him. Nice input :)

I think that's why so many people appreciate San's dancing, is he has such a unique style and he stands out the most when it comes to dancing

yes he's pretty gentle with his exection, but when he goes off, HE GOES OFF. Locking and krumping suit him well.

@@psychorious Can definitely see why! I agree with you. But still was surprised because of the oh-so-known trap that is think: Great Stage presence = Great dancer.

@@Felinaz haha that's definitely a trap for sure. But as mentioned in the intro (although it was speedup), it's a mix of performance and dance skill. He got the lowest score in body control and at the same time got low score in movement qualities, but just like you said, his performance skills makes up for it. That's why the title is worded "who's the best idol performer" and not "who's the best idol dancer" :)

Don't think about my comment on Jongho. I didn't watch all the fancams (not the MAMA or the big stages, only their comebacks) so I couldn't see every side of him. I like his dancing by the way. It's clean and simple, but for the sake of the video, I had to be strict as he didn't fulfill all my criteria.

@@psychorious all good. I knew he would place 8th but feel like I should mention that you should watch the predebut performances. They are so good to the point that people thought ateez was a dance group that was new. Facial expressions were good for everyone overall!!!

I agree with everything! Ateez is a group full out talents. Also Halazia is just too good to be true both music wise and choreography wise! hmm I don't know what's going on. Sometimes I get notification but then the comments are NOT there. Must be some bugs etc

1. I actually don't mind when someone lacks dance technique AS LONG AS they're good performers. That's why I wanted to praise Hoongjong. A leader (like him) knows how to control the stage, represents their theme/concepts and draws attention. That's why I find him special, and is imo the best performer in Ateez. 2. Yes I've done one for Enhypen. It's a little outdated since one person just tremendously improved so the ranking is far from accurate (but the description on their technique is exact). 3. If you look at their score (part 1), you will see how all of them got a pretty high score, which is the highest average I've given (+ I've changed my mind on Jongho. He's not bad at all). Ateez would probably rank nr. 1 among their peers imo. They are in the moment, they use the camera effectively (what I mean by that is, they don't only "dance" because it's the choreography, but they play with the camera, utlilizes gestures, know how to "stand out" not just individually but as a group. I think they have pretty balanced chemistry). 4. oh not at all. I only ranked Jongho low because I didn't see anything special about his "stage presence", but he's in fact a good performer. Both Jongho and Hoongjong rank above average in terms of stage performer (if I understand the term correctly). But they are many talented idol performers out there, so I can't quite tell which place they will end up in. Sorry if there's any grammar mistake. I just got home from an intense dance practice, so my head isn't working at the moment. Still, I hope I answered your questions :)

​@@psychorious Thanks for your explanation. 1& 3. I am glad that you also tihnk he's the best performer in Ateez. For part 1, what is the higher score possible? 15-20? and then 40-45 for part 2 & 3? I might be a bit biased on Hongjoong but I do think in this category he deserves the highest score if it's 20. I think for darker concepts many members do really well (esp. San's and Seonghwa's dramatic expressions), but for songs in brighter concepts like Eternal Sunshine, WAVE, and Illusions etc, Hongjoong shines the brightest which makes him the best overall in expressions. He doesn't just smile and grin, he acts guirky, dorky, silly, whimsical etc...all of which are very appropriate for the fun/playful concepts. For sentimental songs (like Not too Late and Star 1117) he'd still act by lip syncing every line and and looking pensive and melancholic throughout the songs. I think those stage performances are quite overlooked and he really deserves those recognitions (oops I'm just repeating myself lol) 4. Agreed. I don't know much about dancing but I do think his expressions are lacking sometimes, but he has most of the lines so hit seems to make sense for him to focus more on the demanding vocal esp for songs like Guerrilla. I saw the practice videos of Guerrilla and he seemed to do more when he didn't need to focus on singing. When he is on stage he scaled back a bit but oh my his vocal is so amazing and stable. Like in Kcon last month, even after performing Wonderland/Say My Name/Hala Hala his live singing in Guerrilla sounded even better than the recording, and it was so powerful that it reverberate the entire venue. I think in a concert/ big venue performance he is a superstar performer, especially for audience who sit farther away from the stage, it might be hard to see everyone's detailed body movements but his powerful vocal certainly helps intensify the performance. The crowd went instantly wild when they heard him doing 6 high notes in Wonderland Symphony No.9 version, and the adlibs with vibrato in Guerrilla. He is outstanding. Sorry for derailing from the topic and I'm not disagreeing with your analysis...I just got carried away thinking about how our maknae and captain are great on stage other than dancing. ^^ Hope your dance practice went well.

1. How did you think they would be placed?Originally Mingi placed lower than Yeosang. That was mostly because his movement felt underextended and he shortcutted A LOT. I also wanted to put Yeosang higher because he IMPROVED a lot and I'm all about self-improvement. Wooyoung went from 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 3rd to 5th again. Imo his energy control seemed perfect (not to much nor little, and that's why he placed so high. But after Guerrilla got released, I could see more of his flaws so yeah. But I'm really proud of him despite his ranking) 2. You really like spoilers huh😅 Well as we all know, Blackpink will have a comeback really soon, so I will do them :) (the video won't be that long considering they're only 4, and has only 1 dancer) 3. @@triplej8666 When it comes to dance technique Yeosang has a little ege over hwa. Seonghwa just has more balance and his image is cleaner. Yeosang shortcuts some times. Seonghwa does to but mess that yeosang. And above all hwa is more consisten than yeosang. For me mingi is a beter dancer than San bcs he looks way more comfortable dancing. San sometimes has trouble with fast peaced moves where you need to be very controled and presice. And mingi doesn't show to much strugle in that area. And also make mingi and san dance battle, let's be honest mingi would win pretty easily. But yeah this is also my perspective. And btw i have no intention of downgrading one of the members to praise another. I love all of them and i would never do something like that.

yeah I explained it on my other comment about that as I regretted wording the way I did. It was mostly the fancams I've watched (from each comeback) that made me place him there. But I will check those clips out :)

In the 1st and 3rd performance video jonghos facial expressions and dancing were on point. I remember when I was first getting into atz and watched those he and san stood out to me immediately

Well if they make a cb, I'll make a normal dance ranking. But it depends on the choreo. I won't make it if I personally don't find it interesting to analyze.

Well for the few snippets I saw, I couldn't really tell XD The choreo is simple (and catchy), so I do expect the isolation to be on point. But with their improvement, anyone can become the 2nd best dancer meaning I gotta do some research😬

I like them but do they have enough stuff out to do an overall analysis? I thought it was the 2 songs plus the predebut videos they released. Would that b enough? Genuine question since for atz it looks like a lot of fancams were used for this analysis
