Are you sure he can distinguish Japanes from Chinese etc? I suggest a run titled "Only Languages with Symbols" or something like that. But it really hurt not knowing the Flag of Brazil, it is the most unique / complex in my opinion (if you ignore Saudi-arabia, which has written some stuff on it i don't understand) P.S: I would't be able to disdigush between the Languages either ^^

Right before you said it, I was thinking, 'Hey, that looks like the Tryclyde fight from SMB2!' And actually, the second one you did looked a lot like the Mouser fight too. Can't be a coincidence, I would think. I have to think the failure to use a recyclable checkpoint and leaving it open to die after getting the key was simply an oversight - just not being familiar enough with that stuff to know about it. Because the rest of the level didn't seem like he was a trolly creator or anything.

Yeah, I was noticing that the 2nd fight was very obviously the Mouser fight. The last one is very, very obviously the Wart fight too, with pipes with Pows rather than... Uh, Organ tubes? with vegetables. Not sure what they had to do with Kamek and Koopas though.

Being as I suspect every boss is the recreation of the mechanics of a SMB2 boss (just not sure about the one in the 3rd pipe) and the fact that they made the really awkward mobile stacks and stuff, it feels super intentional... But yeah if you're going to write a love letter to SMB2 bosses maybe mention that somewhere =P

Of course he meant United States, but he should be more specific since, in english, "americans" can mean, both, people from the american continents AND people from United States at the same time. United States could have very well created a more specific name for them, but they didnt. In portuguese we call them "Estadunidenses" that could be translated to something like "Unitedstatians" in english. Sorry for any grammar mistake, not a native speaker here as you can see...

i seriously admire you, ryu. i could never do this kind of gameplays, not even with your skill. to replay some of those nightmare stages 50 or 70 times in a row would be enough to send me to an asylum, or i'd start smashing up my house and running naked down the street while kicking grannies in the face. your most admireable skill is how fucking chill you are after 50 deaths in a row and starting an ultra hard level from the scratch

Those were TOTALLY Mario 2 bosses! The Hydra, the second room was the Rat, and the last room functioned like Birdo in the first level of the game. That's so cool!

Ryu, just as a hint for future levels, if you have to pick between 4 doors to go through, ALWAYS pick the second door. In nearly every level I’ve seen, the second door is the correct door because that’s the door that creators always think is the least likely to get picked.

Late comment, however i believe the "Uncontrollable deaths" in 'SuperMarioMaker:SuperMarioPlayer' were in fact due to Mario not getting high enough off the wall jump, therefore not putting him far enough on the first thwomp, in turn making him clip the final block in the sequence.

Japan is basically good at everything. Every Nintendo game you play online, they destroy you as well. They can even hack in Mario Kart. I remember some Japanese girl that used unlimited blue shells/spiky shells in Mario Kart Wii. Crazy races but it was fun. XD

Honestly I thought all but the 5th were fine, for Super Expert. It was just people trying to make hard levels, although they weren't necessarily skilled-- the 5th was the only one that intentionally tried to be a jerk. Not-Japan wins IMO. Plus Japan would be in the negatives with this scoring system

JoCr2 I think part of the problem lies in when somebody's designing a level they want to be the person who stumps the best players so as opposed to making it based on being fun and skillful they just make it with the intent of it being unbeatable(thats why dev routes are so prevalent)

Ok, in that first map, you could be safe with the key if you hit the checkpoint flag AFTER you get the three red coins. You assumed it would be recyclable, so you hit it first. But if you waited, then you could save the three red coins.

Ratio of Daniels:population in US is also higher than in Norway (1:222 vs 1:567). Fun fact: highest density of Daniels occurs in Vatican City! nice

I would love to see a series where you only play a certain country's levels and see if there are any common themes. It would take a while but it would be super interesting.
