Triangle wheels can be comfortable! Actually, with this type of suspention almost any wheels shape would feel like normal round ones.

The triangle wheel is a welcome improvement over the old fashion square wheel. It eliminates one bump.

It's not quite a triangle. Look up 'Wankel Engine'. It's a curved triangle or 'trochoid shape', specifically - the 'Reuleaux triangle'. Guy basically turned his wheels into a gravity powered Mazda rotary engine. 😅

Engineering Masterpiece. The fsct that its not a bumpy bike, the rollers cancel out the bumpyness, makes this into an actual genius masterpiece, if not very usable, but something worthy of somebodys bike collection.

For anyone curios this shape is called a "shape of constant width". Since when the triangle sticks out more on one side, it sticks out less on the other side so they cancel out. The problem is that this is only true for the entire shape, not a radius from the center, so that's why he had to make those long rollers so the bike is effectively rolling the shapes between the rollers and the ground, thus using the full width, so it doesn't make him bob up and down

@@UrbanGuitarLegend Look at the seat, it's not bobbing up and down. This is why this is cool, it's a shape of constant diameter, so you kinda almost can use it for a wheel, it needs the rollers above the wheel since the axis moves, but diameter doesn't change, and it's more moving parts, but it's not a bumpy ride, as our naive intuition might suggest.

@@veissc Why does Islam attract more converts than any other religion? One major reason is Islam says: "refugees welcome" to those fleeing failing liberal social and religious institutions. Let me explain. Liberal secularists promote the idea that their norms for regulating marriage, family, and religion are ideal. Nevertheless, statistical data indicates that wherever a society is governed by liberal secular norms, people stop marrying, having children, and practicing religion. Put differently, the liberal is fundamentally a hypocrite - despite what he or she might say, no liberal person is actually interested in being part of a liberal marriage, a liberal family, or a liberal religion. Matters are different when it comes to Islam. Muslims also promote the idea that their norms for regulating marriage, family, and religion are ideal. Moreover, statistical data indicates that wherever a society is governed by Islamic norms, it boosts marriage, birth rate, and religious practice. Put differently, the Muslim is actually interested in being part of a Muslim marriage, a Muslim family, and the Muslim religion. The current era is an era of refugees fleeing from liberalism. Liberal marriage, family, and religion have collapsed. As a result, refugees from liberal societies seek marriage partners abroad, and if they practice any type of religion - it is a non-liberal version whose centers are located abroad. Islam is the most obvious choice for them.

Take the same design in those wheels and you can drill a square hole (seriously)... so anything's possible. Friend of ours patented a window hinge back in the 70's. Just 2 bits of plastic, one in the frame, one in the surround (ok 4, counting the other side hinge). Pull open the window at the bottom and the top drops and hinges slightly into the frame (so water drips over the top, not in behind as can happen with standard hinges. To look at the hinge bits, both pieces have a pin that sticks out, and tracks that indent in... no moving parts, just 2 solid interacting sides. Something that always gets me... Most things that are "New" were designed 100yr or more ago... they just didn't have the material or ability to actually build the design. The Britten V1000 used front forks designed 100 years before, but back then the material available was so heavy the forks would have steered the bike uncontrollably... I believe Britten actually used the design... "because he could"... (They weren't really any better than current fork design). (You may not be interested but Britten built a superbike on a farm that on its 1st race, took on factory supported race Ducati's... and not only beat them.... at one point sat beside them while they were full throttle in a sweeper.... and started pulling wheelies along side... (There is a brilliant Documentary on it... John Britten, such a sad loss to the world).

I want one! I'm thinking a bit of padding under the tires would help with comfort. Maybe make the wheels a bit smaller and use an actual inner tube. After all, the tube is flexible so it can be shaped into a Reuleaux triangle. Maybe. It might put too much stress on the tube, so maybe use those non-inflating inner tubes instead. Maybe try "Reuleaux pentagons", then those roller assemblies don't have to be as long.

Because of how a Reuleaux triangle works the wheels pivot point has to be able to move which ads complexity and friction. This solution also results in the bike having no suspension. A great example of an idea that works in theory but isn’t really practical due to its lack in efficiency.

The wheel shapes have the same diameter at every angle, so they will roll very smoothly, although the centre will move. The rollers are to hold the wheels in place where the frame that attaches to the bearings moves. If the wheels were on a rigid frame, the bike would bounce all over the place.

The invention of the wheel is considered one of the most important achievements in human history. Wheels have revolutionized transportation and made it easier to move heavy loads. However, what if the wheel was not round? What if it was a different shape, like a triangle? Triangle wheels may seem like an odd idea, but they have been proposed as a potential solution to some transportation challenges. 1. What are triangle wheels? Triangle wheels are wheels that are shaped like a triangle instead of a circle. They have three sides and three points, which make them look like a triangle. The idea behind triangle wheels is that they could potentially provide better traction and stability than traditional circular wheels. 2. How do triangle wheels work? Triangle wheels work by using their three sides to provide more contact with the ground than a traditional circular wheel. The increased contact area could potentially provide better traction and stability in certain situations, such as on uneven terrain or in slippery conditions. 3. What are the benefits of triangle wheels? One potential benefit of triangle wheels is that they could provide better traction and stability in certain situations. For example, they may be useful for off-road vehicles that need to navigate rough terrain. Triangle wheels could also potentially provide better braking and acceleration performance. 4. What are the drawbacks of triangle wheels? One of the main drawbacks of triangle wheels is that they may not be as efficient as circular wheels. The triangular shape may cause more friction and resistance, which could result in increased energy consumption. Additionally, trianglewheels may be more difficult to manufacture and maintain compared to traditional circular wheels. 5. Are triangle wheels a new idea? Triangle wheels are not a new idea, and variations of triangular-shaped wheels have been proposed and experimented with in the past. For example, the Triskate is a type of rollerblade that uses three oval-shaped wheels instead of traditional circular wheels. 6. What are some potential applications for triangle wheels? Triangle wheels may have potential applications in a variety of fields, including off-road vehicles, military vehicles, and robotics. They may also be useful in situations where traditional circular wheels cannot provide sufficient traction or stability, such as in icy or slippery conditions. 7. What are some challenges to implementing triangle wheels? One of the main challenges to implementing triangle wheels is developing a manufacturing process that is efficient and cost-effective. Additionally, testing and evaluating the performance of triangle wheels may require specialized equipment and facilities. 8. Are there any examples of triangle wheels being used in practice? While triangle wheels are not currently widely used in practice, there have been some examples of triangular-shaped wheels being used in specific applications. For example, the Ripsaw EV2, a high-performance military vehicle, uses triangular-shaped track wheels for improved off-road performance. 9. What are some potential future developments for triangle wheels? As technology continues to advance, it is possible that triangle wheels could become more practical and cost-effective to manufacture. Additionally, further research and development may lead to improved designs that offer even better performanceand efficiency. 10. Conclusion: Triangle wheels may seem like an odd idea, but they have the potential to provide better traction and stability in certain situations. While they are not currently widely used in practice, there have been some examples of triangular-shaped wheels being used in specific applications. However, implementing triangle wheels poses several challenges, such as developing a manufacturing process that is efficient and cost-effective and testing and evaluating their performance. As technology continues to advance, it is possible that triangle wheels could become more practical and cost-effective to manufacture, and further research and development may lead to improved designs that offer even better performance and efficiency. Overall, while the idea of triangle wheels may seem unconventional, it is an interesting concept that could have potential applications in various fields.

When I was a kid, I read a science fiction short story in which triangular tires were used to skirt an alien culture's religious prohibitions against using standard wheels, because circles were considered a sacred shape. After some creative Googling (it's hard when you remember the premise but not the author or title), I determined it was 'The Three-Cornered Wheel' by Poul Anderson. It's part of his Technic History series. You're welcome. 😉

Ah, the mathematics. The important thing about a wheel is not that it's a circle, but that it has the same width in any direction. Each of the three sides of the "triangle" just has to be an arc of a circle centered on the opposite vertex.

Haha, I think this video clearly demonstrates that the property is *not* the only important thing about a wheel. You can't seriously watch this in action and think it's working just as well as a circular wheel. It's a very interesting video, don't get me wrong, but you can't just watch it with your eyes closed!

If the wheel is sandwiched between two flat surfaces, yes. If the vehicle weight is transferred through the hubs, and the ground is flat, you still need a constant radius, i.e. circular wheels. Or of course belts (which have circular rollers) arranged in squares, just to pick a random example.

Your videos are always creative. Not everyone can come up with such ideas, and few can technically implement it. Of course, riding such a bike is not convenient, but you definitely won’t be left without the attention of passers-by.
