all did a good job and I like if all kind of people take on classical folx (in this case sea shanty) music. the most genuine and atmospheric was the German version, because the traditional sea shanties were usually not sung by a solo singer but by a 'sea workers ship team',. The Brazilian guy sung it in the same way and gave similar vibes (could be actually part of the German band - he even had obvious German roots) but the chorus in the background was just flat-generic while in the German version it was also sung in a classical chorus way by 'authentic guys with such vibes'. The Pirate vibe comes from the fact that this classical vibe is often used in this setting. The German band is anyway into this kind of tradition and as Northern Germans they also sung it in the old (19./20.century- the entire region from the Balics to UK was already at medivial time culturally the main shipping route and origin of the sea shanty tradition before the colonial era much later). And the visual setting with those guys and the ship/bug RPG like look&feel adds of course to the classical style. Apropos: history: due to some newer organization and technologies after the middle age back then Ships became different organized later and such songs forbidden (similar to modern armies which also not anymore run singing around) but later in the 18./19./20. century those traditions became a renaissance .... Quality wise the German band and the Brazil guy fit very well together and the Brazil one could also be easy part of the band for solo passages. The rest of the interpreter are more like represents of different styles and variations (from boy group vibes to more other folky to metalish-rocky fun etc.) which is a good thing and it depends then on the individual taste. One can also like different versions at the same time. Especially the Russian video version is btw. worth to see complete since it is an acoustically and visually complex - yet fitting - work.

Imagine this pirate crew: Gustavo Steiner as the Captain, Alina Gingertail as the 1.maat, Saltatio Mortis as the boarding party and the Canadian Guy as the crazy navigator.

Of course I'm going with Russia's Alina Gingertale and Germany's Saltatio Mortis! They do it the best in my opinion, because they both have the instrumentals that work absolutely perfect for a shanty! Canada's Little V Millis and Sweden's Endigo are for sure up there, I mean heavy metal versions of a sea shanty? I love it! Princess Rizu's and Colm McGuiness's vocals, Gustavo Steiner's bass, and Tom Alexander's flute are all up there as well.
