I like that Yokai shift opens a plethora of special skills and attack combinations thats also not so much of a crutch as LW. I still wish LW could have been tweaked as I enjoy Weapon/Spirit Intergration more than fighting as a demon sometimes. Just imagine LW for Fists, Splitstaffs, and Switchglaive lol.

Nah LW was so much more satisfying to use. It could do straight 0 for damage, but the animation alone makes LW more satisfying the yokai shift. Also yokai shift tends to be spamming yokai abilities more which are significantly more busted than LW

Even in regular Ng, you can fight to majority of a boss fight with it. All you really need are decent soul cores, and the game gives you two as guaranteed drops on the first level.

I guarantee you that even on ng, it's a very strong tool

Doesn't do much for you? like what? you can spam yokai abilities pretty much nonstop to either deal massive damage or have massive utility like perma sgun locking enemies, try Ippon+osakabe+magatsu, get in a couple normal hits then you can ippo, hit a couple times, osakabe, couple hits, ippon again and continue till they're low on ki then shred with magatsu, and you can extend it for really long absorbing the amrita released by yokai abilities (you have to manually absorb it though)

@@faktehmeltha6701 yeah I usually play either solo or help randoms as a summon If you struggle with spamming stunlocking skills like ippon and osakabe combo, chances are your timing is off, try picking a rythm, if you let too much time they will attack, if you do it too fast you won't have next ability charged when you need it

@@johjoh9270 and 1 thing is that while transforming the transform animation is kinda slow that fast enemy like otakemaru he came and attack so i lost like half of my gauge and sometimes i i dont even have a chance to use my yokai ability. But 1 thing i notice is that if atleast i can manage to use living weapon while in YS its very good and that is how i beat otakemaru at 2nd try but going back to farm purity weapon i cant beat him that the reason is i just cant use my living weapon and so i find out that LW is the key to success 🙂

@@georgelongcoal1117 I like it the way it is to be honest, but that's because I'm a big fan of Japanese culture and it works a different way than what we are used in western countries there, martial arts weren't explained back then and pupils were supposed to learn by observing and doing, which is what essentially Nioh does. For me this is the best game ever, not just this year :)

Don't trust Tokochiro either. He was just a sandalbearer and then became the Taiko. There is definitely something amiss with that sneaky character. Yokai and humans should not coexist.

I barely finished dream of the samurai and already have the full tree, and yokai shift is not that hard, just wait till the right moment for a boss to have low Ki, strike, spam yokai abilities, GG, even more strong than living weapons for sure

​@@narommalagonmorales2663 In my original normal playthrough on the PS4 I didn't get a full Shiftling tree until Dream of the Nioh, maybe late Wise at best. I am playing with max equip drop rate (soul core drops affected) cheat enabled on PC because I don't feel like grinding. My character is Shiftling level 45 out of 90 after beating the base game Dream of the Samurai. It's impossible to have a full tree anywhere near early Dream of the Strong without cheats. Compared to LW, the YS has a massive availability problem at the start of the game. I had to kill 3/4 of the enemies in the mission before I received enough amrita for YS to be available naturally. YS availability was so poor I forgot it existed most of the time. This is on top of its duration being shorter than LW, on top of it's gauge being drained more per action than LW, on top of it's attack being weaker than LW. Yes, if you break the enemies ki for a grapple and have good soul cores YS can be powerful, however why is it important to wait for a grapple? Because YS doesn't start off with Yokai Skills freely available. Yes, the "super" mechanic that specializes in using soul cores for combat... doesn't have them available from the start of the transformation. Honestly, if LW didn't exist I think people would have received YS better, but LW did exist and because it was such a juggernaut YS felt like a disappointment by comparison.

@@lax4352 If you want an easier time filling the Armita Gauge, you can farm in the Underworld Pleiades (Enemy Kill) 100% on armor or accesories as a star passive.

@@lax4352 The Amrita Gauge is primarily filled by hitting enemies with Yokai abilities. A single Mezuki use fills like ~25% of the gauge. Hit multiple enemies with a single use and you can fill the entire Gauge on a single group of enemies instantly. Most other cores generate on average around 10-20% per use. Honestly, at all stages of the game, YS is really easy to fill, and once you start extending the Gauge by absorbing amrita manually, the duration isn't an issue either.

I did not build around yokai shift minus getting the passive skills in the shiftling tree

Shadows of a dream and sarutahiko are good for building around it to start. Maybe even... Crime of patricide 2 piece? From there just use scrolls

people's complaint about yokai shift are that it encourages braindead gameplay because part of strength of yokai shift is the ability for yokai abilites to deal max-ki damage. essentially, yokai shift encourages stun-locking your opponent. Living weapon encourages you to dodge and empowered melee(an under-powered mechanic) in nioh 2 evident by people's over-reliance on needing to apply confusion and poison(for poison vs melee bonus) to have relevant dps output. the whole point of mechanic was suppose to be that you get stronger melee in the game but irony behind the mechanic is that yokai shift sucks at melee and is best used with ninjasu and omniyo magic builds. The problem is that 75% unlimited omniyo builds & 75% unlimited ninjasu builds do not need yokai shift to be relevant because they already have unlimited anima from soul purge talisman and ninjasu anima charge bonus(from nekopara and soulcore stats) from using cloud kunai, fire shurikens and poison shurikens. these build are already overpowered in both games without needing any support. Yokai shift just buffs an already overpowered mechanic to the moon. Yokai shift is not weak but it improves wrong aspect of the game and encourages the wrong behaviours.

99,99999% of players are bad when compared to Pooferllama (myself included lol). If your style suits you, keep going. If you want to lean towards a more complex style, take your time. Patience and practice are key. Even if you dont do half what Poofer does, you would be doing great Have fun!

@@elsoul7204 yea hes pretty amazing. so is this other guy i watch called whitegoat. and yea i definitely have fun, easily one of the best games i ever played. i do alright with my build but i dont know half of what im actually doing 🤣 like the shifts, the breaking and things. im like 80% through the playthrough i think and just remembered i can parry 😂 ill have to look up some guides to understand more maybe lol. learn what everything means.

It took my whole first playthrough all the way through dream of the strong before the muscle memory really kicked in for me. I just started playing again a month ago and I still have it... and more even. This game is probably my favorite

@@blair5475 In Nioh 2 you have you demon form with a weapon of what typ of demon you picked. Brute a hammer. Feral two swords and phantom two double sided blad. But in Nioh 1 the first game you have a elemental living weapon. Like a large sword, spear, hammer what weapon you want to use will extend and get lager you kan see som bosses use it.

change the spirit you bring. there is a little symbol next to the name, choose different one to change yokai form
