Here we go! This was just one of the many catapult launches I was fortunate enough to experience in a C-2 Greyhound during my career as a U.S. Naval Aviator. It's also very common for most Navy Pilots to grow a mustache while underway on deployment. And as you can clearly see, my copilot was unmatched in that category... Did you noticed he (and his glorious mustache) barely flinched during the cat shot??

He had two baseball sized holes in his nose cone losing some electronics but managed to limp back to the carrier, make his approach and hook a wire on his first attempt. There are some fantastic official Navy photographs of his return flight. The CO sent an F9F with a photographer to document the event.
