Well, it's always amazing to see two bands we like collaborating on a song or live performance.
And today, I've selected some of the many memorable collaborations between Japanese artists that we've had over the years.

Collabs are extremely common in Japan, way too many to single out one favorite. Collabs occur every week on music programs on tv-and notably on the annual Red-White Singing Competition, a tv institution broadcast on New Years Eve, where Babymetal collabed with Yoshiki, Brian May and Roger Taylor, LiSA, Sarah Brightman, SixTONES, and milet in 2020-not to mention fests, club events, First Take, Naon no Yaon, etc. As for Naon no Yaon, which you refer to, collabs of instrumentalists and vocalists are integral to the show. The medleys and the entire 2nd half of the NnY shows are given over to collabs, with the members of the bands that perform in the 1st half of the shows mixed and matched with other support players in ad hoc combinations and backing the solo vocalists. The solo vocalists and band vocalists collab in the medleys. One of my best memories from NnY is of Saki of Mary's Blood / Nemophila and Tomo-zo of Gacharic Spin going toe-to-toe. Another is a club version of NnY's "Guitar Girls Collection" collab, from 2018, with Ayumi now of Bridear and Hazuki now of Nemophila going toe-to-toe in a cover of Orianthi and Steve Vai's "Highly Strung" (btw, the other guitarists there were Saki then of Mary's Blood, Yashiro of MB support, Marin of LoVendoR, and Hal-ca of Asterism). The collab list, in all music genres, is endless.

Babymetal have been killing it with collabs this year. Tom Morello, Electric Callboy and BODYSLAM and F-Hero were all insane songs. The Kingslayer Live performance was sooo goood too. In general there are alot of collabs and cross overs as well. Recently fami from lovebites and Nagisa performed together with another Vocalist. From what you picked out, i def gotta see the Gacharic Spin x Nemophila collab. I didn't know about the Eir Aoi and LiSA crossover either. Gotta see that too

and with me going to rock am ring, where babymetal and electric callboy play close to each other, i hope i get to see ratatata live. gonna see hanabie there as well. but i dont know of any collabs of them. correct me if i am wrong

Man with a Misson with Milet , Hotei and Zebrahead. Hotei with Aina the end. All the songs they did together were great.

I like Babymetal, but the songs from all these collaborations with international artists are not for me, I'm not liking this americanization of Babymetal's sound, this is just my opinion based on my personal taste.

The "americanization of babymetal" comment sounds so dumb when you consider that Electric Callboy are from Germany and F.Hero and Bodyslam are from Thailand and Bring Me The Horizon are from the UK. Well atleast Tom Morello is american so I guess you got that going for you:D Edit. Okay forgot about the lil uzi collab aswell. Even I can say that was a dumbster fire of a collab:D

@@TyypplYes, maybe you have a point, but because the artists are from other nationalities, that doesn't mean that their sound isn't similar to what is done in American music. Edit. Maybe the right word is internalization and not americanization.

@@mbenocas1390 Yeah internalization sounds a lot better. Since RATATATA and METALI for example sure as hell did not sound like american music to me. Like other is a clear japanese festival song with all the "wasshoi wasshoi"chanting and a kabuki breakdown in the middle and the shamisen playing at the background and other song is some european techno with metal:D

Not a fan of Babymetal due to how commercial and more a theatre show than a "metal band" The best collab would have to be with Kami Band, without them there is no BM

Babymetal existed for a couple of years before there was the Kami band. So yes, there can and wad Babymetal without the Kami band. The Kami band is fantastic and essential for Babymetal's success outside of Japan so over all, your right.

@@jeffschreifels8651 Thanks for the info, very interesting the band came couple years later. Its not the girls fault the band is marketed this way (3 cute Asian girls) when its the band thats the real appeal but always in background. BUT its made them all very wealthy so who am i to judge. Its just not for me. Im more Nemophila, older HanabiE + Lovebites real metal bands with no choreography. Lovebites is kinda scripted. Nemophila 100% badass energy driven metal.

@@_Aussie_ I agree the band is pushed into the background the last few years and it's frustrating. It was better in the earlier days when they were unmasked and more visible. Those girls are definitely not just cute girls. They are talented s hell, the music is great and the whole concept is unique. I take nothing away from the bands you mentioned but none of their singers has the voice of Suzuka Nakamoto.

@@_Aussie_ Pretty sure that's just your opinion that the band is the main appeal:D. The Kami band members themselves agree that the girls are the main attraction and are presicely what makes babymetal unique. If it was just the kami band with a normal vocalist they would be literally like every other metal group out there:D

@@Tyyppl Im a metal head Kami band is 100% the appeal but still not enough to listen to. The vocals what ive herd are ok, its the scripted stage show is what kills it for me. Thats something you see in pop, rap, dance etc not metal gigs. Yes this what makes them unique, there marketing is aimed more at mainstream. I dont know about that, its not like Western rock/metal most sound and look the same Japanese rock/metal bands are not only better musicians most have there own style and sound to not sound like other bands.... for most part.
