One of the historical difficulties in the Book of Daniel is the figure known as "Darius the Mede". Who was this individual? Did he exist? Did he go by another name? Dr. Josh takes a look at various options and presents what he thinks is the most likely solution.

A point of clarification: Darius was not the ruler of the Medes, he was a governor of the Babylonian province under the Meden ruler (say like Paul Bremer when he was put in charge of Iraq, but was not related to Saddam Hussein and is not a prime minister, he also set up Iraq in a form of democracy.) The fact that he sets Babylon up in harmony with the structure of the Medes, indicates that structure preceded him. He was not Persian in the case of Cyrus, who was the head of the Persian empire. Again he was a governor over the province of Babylon under the Medes emperor whomever that might be. Probably this Ahasueras referred to.

Everytime i bring this issue up to religious people, they already stopped trying to argue about the veracity of the biblical stories. They tell me to just ignore all the discrepancies or authenticities, and just focus on the moral of the stories.

This is the problem with historians and archeology in general, they come millennia after the fact and look at minuscule remnants of evidence and then go about trying to correct ancient sources on the basis that it doesn’t fit within the spectrum of the tiny amount of fragments they’ve yet to uncover. Then one day after years of all the PhDs making claims of supreme knowledge in the field a discovery is made and all of them get left with egg on their face. Then they all rush back to their ivory towers to write a book explaining the new discovery and that becomes the new supreme truth, the new paradigm that must be defended.

Sounds very specific, like you should have an example or two to give. otherwise, you weren’t listening to the video, and are probably offended at the fact it is not just letting the blatant truth go. There’s mountains history that juxtapose the biblical writings and fiction.

Here's the problem. The bible has been messed around with so much, that its almost impossible to know the absolute accurate original passage of Daniel.

I already know Steve Anderson is biased. However, for anyone who comes in here thinking that the book of Daniel was written by Daniel in the time period it purports to be written, I urge you to go to my channel. I'm actually doing a series analyzing the book at the moment. It should also be noted that the Jews themselves do NOT place Daniel with the prophets

@@Makaneek5060 what hard feelings? Medes joined Cyrus's army after Astyages *median King failed against his grandson Cyrus the great, there's still antique artifacts showing medes and persians together, but many scholars refuse it they say all kings were persians and that is totally unacceptable for Christians as it mentioned in bible that Darius was mede

Even though it is not the super crazy Steven Anderson, I can't believe someone would/could write something like "God is the source, so it has to be correct" in an academic paper.
