I agree, I've held bronze swords and have gotten to do cut tests with them and they feel so cool and look so cool. We really never got a decent movie set in the bronze age. Even Troy, with Brad Pitt, did not have accurate outfits and they didn't polish the bronze, which bronze was polished in order to make it shine as much as possible.

Amazing video! I didn't know about Priam's surviving brothers, that was super useful! I feel sorry for poor Priam. He survived Heracles, forged alliances during the most turbulent times of the Bronze Age, fought the Amazons, and turned Troy into a prosperous city, only for his stupid son to ruin all of it.

Why would helen run away with paris. Think meneleaus was older by 15yrs and was taken from troy. Paris set off on a mission to find helen and get her back. Now he fell in love in the process and then so did helen. Now he brought her back. Now who is wrong. ???

1:59 that depiction of the sea monster Cetus from a vase at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, not too far from where I live. The museum inaccurately describes the skull as belonging not either a whale or giraffe ( though the museum’s website uses the word dragon instead) when in reality, it likely belongs to a monitor lizard of some sort or an animal closely related to monitor lizards I have no idea if the scale of the skull in comparison to the people also depicted on the vase is accurate. If so, the lizard would be about 25 feet long (approx. 8 meters)

The other group were the Tocharian group of languages. 7:15 This is a common misconception! Trojans were also Hellenes🇬🇷 First, the term Greeks is NOT correct! Romans named us Graecia, we NEVER used that term for our nation! Read any ancient source or text… you won’t find anyone calling us Greeks! Our nation is called Ελλάς/Ellás > Hellas in English. The people we are called Hellenes and our language Hellenic! The term Greeks and Graecia is a Roman mistake! Now, Trojans were also Hellenes🇬🇷 The phrase Trojans against Hellenes is totally wrong because Trojans were also a Hellenic tribe since the whole Minor Asia was Hellenic colonies! The correct phrase is Trojans against Achaeans, a civil war between two main Hellenic tribes and their allies! Thrace, Phrygia, Mysia, Karia…etc also Hellenic tribes! Their names you read were Hellenic! Have you heard any turk or Bulgarian or whatever to have names like Ekàvi (Hecuba), Príamos (Priam) Èktoras (Hector)… etc? Back then these tribes were still in Central Asia. They came much later to our lands! Homer wrote these stories and he never mentioned people form different nation! He wrote that Achaeans, Trojans, Lydians, Thracians… they all had the same Gods, we all spoke the same language. Priam, Hector, Agamemnon, Helen, Menelaus, Achilles… they all had conversations. How would that be possible if they spoke different languages??? Helen from Sparta went to Troy with Paris. They were speaking the same language. Priam from his Walls with Agamemnon had conversations, in what language? The same Hellenic language🇬🇷
@WanaxTV
@WanaxTV Жыл бұрын
Good points. In the video I said Greeks on the other side of the Aegean, but I didn’t say that Greeks weren’t on the Asian side as well. I’m not sure about all those tribes tho. I agree Phrygians were related people (watch my video called Complete History of the Phrygian Kingdom). And also about Troy before the Trojan War (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/p6-TY8iW28jdoo0.html). They likely did speak Greek language. Carians did need translator to communicate with the Trojans if I remember correctly.

@@WanaxTV in Hellenic there were three main groups of “accents” or “dialects” before the koene (common) Hellenic settle as the official language everywhere. Ionian, Doric and Aeolian Hellenic. In Asia Minor there were mainly Ionians but there were some colonies from Aeolians as well. Athenians used to say θάλαττα/thàlatta and Ionians θάλασσα/thàlassa meaning sea. Today we use the Ionian form thàlassa. The Sun was either called élios, ílios or àlios. Today we use the form Ήλιος / ílios and also the form Elios for our nation Elios > El > Ellas In English they adopted the form Elios > Helios. Among us there were differences in accent and dialect. Surely tribes like the Phrygians and Trojans and Thracians were closer. Southern tribes like Carians, Lydians had other accents that made their speaking incomprehensible to other Hellenes. But if we see their trails through History in these areas we have ancient Hellenic temples, they are connected through mythology and stories but still contented to the rest of the Hellenes. People with foreign origin are rarely mentioned in our myths. We have stories for Egypt and Ethiopia but that was from travelling around the Mediterranean and netting with other cultures. The origin of the Hellenic tribes is connecting through the myths of Genesis of our Gods etc… Today Bulgarians are claiming to be native Thracians😂😂😂 Bulgarians, who they came form the steppes of Mongolian with kings like Asparukh Khan claiming to be Thracians😂 Bulgarian Slavs from Vardarska🇲🇰 claiming to be Makedonians… 😂 In the stories (sometimes mythology, sometimes historiography) we read about us the others. The others were always the Persians, the Egyptians, Babylonians, Carthaginians… All the other tribes always mentioned to fight against each other are related. The Hellenic nation was spread from Crimea, Pontus, the borders with Armenia, Minor Asia, Phoenicia, Cyprus, Magna Graecia (Southern Italy) to the shores of France (Marseilles and Cannes) even to Spain.

Lydian and Carians are both not Hellenic, but Anatolian languages respectively. You cannot look at Homer's epos as a waterproof non-fictious work. As for Troy, we don't know for sure. But they did seem to have some similarities to both Anatolians and Helladic groups. Don't forget that at the time of the Troy war(s), the only known colony of the Achaeans was Milletos.
