Travis is the best, not only because he's played by Ted Raimi (although that alone could be enough) but because you feel for him. He only wants to help his family to lift the curse. And in return he always gets yelled at by his ma 💀 He's definitely my favourite character from the game

Also totally distraught that we didn't get any character interactions afterwards, I was totally looking forward to Max being like "why are you wearing my clothes?!" to Emma, and Lauren being like "Why are you wearing MY clothes" to Max. I feel like that would've been a much better time filler than that god awful podcast at the end

I was saying the same thing, but I just realized something. They said that Silas was gone and out of the area for a long time. So he probably wouldn’t want to count on killing silas because he couldn’t find him for 6 years. That’s just my thoughts but it kind of makes sense. He still could’ve mentioned silas though.

I've been thinking about that too, and I believe they should have had it where he does tell Laura the truth, or at least most of the truth if you can get him to respect and trust her after the first full moon in the station. She could still be out there a little too gung ho and still kill Kaylee, which gets her wrapped up with the Hacketts like normal. Travis could have told a fib, claiming that Silas was locked in the shelter and he was on his way to finish the job when he found them crashed in the woods, and that since she let him free and got Max cursed, she should help him in the hunt for Silas, and maybe it's possible for Laura to find out he lied and that Chris was the one actually locked down there giving her the option to just kill Chris to free Max and escape, or to stay on the path of hunting Silas, however long it takes. There's so many better ways they could have gone than the insufferable disaster that is a lack of communication. The devs retread far too much of the same things as Until Dawn that they really should have learned from and improved on, instead of just recycling it on a bigger scale.

Like House of Ash style. I think they wanted to try sth fresh, but why not make the good ending so that Ryan starts a podcast a year later and invite Dylan and the rest to talk about it. We can have some charater development moments or funny dialogues like how Emma tries to plug her socials, or Dylan became a programmer / mechanic and got himself a cool prosthetic etc. etc.

I thought there was going to be a scene at the camp where the characters are explaining to the cops what happened and showing all the evidence you as the player gathered. Would've been more interesting.

@@kevinstephenson3531 Yeah, I'll agree with you on that. I do dislike that there's no way to take a path to killing all the Hacketts without player characters dying too. I don't mind that he's got a human form, but it does fly in the face of his role in the carnival. Only being able to be put on show 2 or 3 nights a month doesn't make for the best investment, especially with how dangerous it could be for someone to get a little too close to the bars.

@@ShaimingLong Given the "feral pale boy sighted up and down the coast" bit that Travis mentioned, I would assume that "human form Silas" at least had some obvious animal traits even outside of the full transformation. Yes, we see his form for a second at the end there, but it's probably his mannerisms, more than purely his appearance. And given how "weak" entertainment was back in the day and the fact that freak shows are often either just handicapped folks or fake, Silas just looking crazy wild and eating raw meat or something would probably suffice for visitors. Kinda wish they expounded on his actual origin a bit, tho. Probably the weakest part of the story that you go this whole "werewolf lineage with rules and shit" route, but then you keep going back in history, uncover all the werewolves and end at "yeah, this guy was just a werewolf all the time or something and his maybe-mom was a witch/ghost".

tbf hes the only one whos had that much alone time and his encounters were probably the most horrifying but shortest lived, so he had fk tons of downtime to just soak it all in and let the adrenaline die down. not to mention the guilt.

After seeing people in combat and other stressful situations... Yeah this is fairly accurate. Every person has their mechanism for handling dire situations. The vast majority of people have a sort of robot switch. They are not experiencing the events but trying to deflect the experience... Of course after the situation the majority then have to deal with what they dealt with as their mental walls start coming down.

Well, to be fair, charged doesn't mean convicted. Also if Ryan was able to send in information and proof to his favorite podcast they probably weren't convicted (plus the second news clip saying more info lead to the belief of their being unidentified animals causing harm).

There is one ending where you get to see them. If Ryan and Travis die, instead of going to hunt Silas she goes straight to Max and you actually get to see their reunion. She comments on his amazing outfit too.

Exactly. A lot of people play story games in part because they want to connect with the characters. But how are we gonna get genuine closure when basically all of the characters don't get at least a final scene.

I tried to separate my distaste for the other Supermassive and Dark Pictures Games. For a while, I did. I even started to like some of these characters, which is something I’ve never been able to say about the previous games. But, in the end- just like all the others, including Until Dawn- Seán was really the only aspect I liked about The Quarry. One of my all time favorite actors, Lance Henricksen, was so criminally underutilized! Sure, he was only a supporting character in Detroit: Become Human as well, but Quantic Dream knew how to play to his strengths. *This game,* on the other hand, was a complete waste of his talent. These are just my opinions, by the way. For those who liked The Quarry, more power to you. I’ll probably watch Evelien play it next, but I’ll only be doing it for her.

You can actually save Caleb, Kaitlyn, AND Dylan simultaneously. However, this requires Kaitlyn to get infected in Chapter 9. If she is infected, all you have to do is miss the QTE to shoot Caleb with the silver bullets and that's it.

I didn't hate the podcast, I acc found it mildly amusing lol, but I definitely think it would've been much better to get interviews w/ the characters like in Until Dawn & House of Ashes. They could've just had the podcast as an extra feature for anyone who wanted to listen to it, rather than making it the only ending, & forcing you to listen to it during the credits.

Next game will focus entirely on the Bizarre and Bonafide podcast, got it.

They don't seem like they have the skills to think that they should tell the kids so the kids could help them.

Also the fact that there were still werevolwes on the FIRST DAY OF CAMP. Laura and Max arrived at camp when it was already past midnight, meaning that Chris had to greet the campers just few hours after he finished devouring the camp maskot. Who plans like that?? Literally just make the camp two days shorter! It's so dumb. The real villain wasn't Jacob or Silos, the villain was awful organisation.

Chris isn't the only Hackett to act stupid either. Mrs. Hackett clearly has poor common sense and no concept of gun safety. there is literally no other way that struggle could have ended. I also can't believe she would say "we don't want more blood on our hands and then *not* lock up the infected family members in her secure, electrified cages under the property for the night. The whole family is full of morons.

What I also wonder about is it seemed from earlier in the story that they were there for 2 months... so what happened on that full moon inbetween? the one where Max scratched Laura's eyeball out. How did Chris guarantee the campers safety?

So for that to happen, he needs at least one death scene, and it's not even good. Honestly, Max is a good enough character without it. He didn't need to be playable. Or at least give him more than one death, or something! What's the point of making an extra character playable if it adds nothing? I thought Max should leave because he could find Jacob and help him 😭

There is an ending in which certain characters are reunited, it's just very specific on what to do to get said ending.

His brother Chris could've told the counselors that that night hunters would be taking care of rabies infected bears that were spotted in the area or some bs like that. Jacob could've accepted that his summer fling is over. But horror wouldn't work so well if the characters didn't all make mistakes that sensible people would avoid.

Bc staying in the lodge would have done the same thing, lock the doors, stay inside. The only threat even remotly close by was Caleb and he would not just go to the lodge for no reason, the hunters would've dealt with it and kept them safe if they didn't have to worry about stupid kids running around. Also max was already bit and in the island. Also they would've had the party anyway and it would've led to everything that happens in the game anyway

Exactly. I didn’t really mind the podcast I fell like it’s kinda cool considering there’s actual podcast of unsolved crimes irl. The thing I didn’t like was the lack of reunion. Like the counselors couldn’t see each other, explain what the hell happened and finally reassure themselves that they were safe.

i agree! continuity with their animations and choices is what really gets me. dylan's a prime example since he literally loses his hand; if you played through and didn't cut it off, he still never fully uses it, he continues to fumble around. i understand it takes so much time to animate and design alternative cut scenes and models along with respective movements and animations, but it feels so lazy. the game genuinely forces you into either killing off the characters based on poor choices (whether that be by your own hand, or through forced scenarios like having to call out despite not choosing to) OR you can let them live then never see them give the storyline any further depth. you spend so much time bonding and trying to keep all of their relationships in tact for absolutely nothing to come out of it - no reunions or follow up whatsoever in the end. i really appreciate how gorgeous the game is at times but how can you expect players to enjoy it and want to seek out the alternative options and paths if doing so provides absolutely no difference from the main direction the story takes?

Yeah. I would’ve loved it if you had a route where you actually save Nick instead of running away even tho you chose help and that results in Nick transforming and killing Abi and getting let loose, this causes him to not be captured by the Hackett family members

Out of all the characters I think Emma is the only one who could have 2 different paths in the game, first is when shes with abi and then with Jacob at the end. The rest pretty much have the same ending or can just die early

Like I know because they’re werewolves it would be very cliché for them to guess wolves but wolves can be a lot bigger than people expect and how thin they are matched how thin these werewolves are.

They haven't found Silas in years, so no point in looking for him. Laura figured Travis was protecting the werewolf in the basement, which is Chris. She overheard the brothers arguing about the incident and she immediately went for Chris. I don't think Laura will believe Travis if he ever talks about Silas, and if so Ryan is the only who saw Silas. Besides, they only have one night to end the curse and finding Chris is way easier, at least for her( That final scene where they face silas was very underwhelming )

I think that; like we know, Silas hadn’t been in that area in years. He’s most likely very far away, further than they could ever hope to reach him in one night of looking. Chris bites max, so travis has to try and fix the situation, because he’s a good guy and isn’t about to kill a couple of twenty something year olds to cover up their secret. He didn’t want to tell them what was going on, but when Laura said they knew max was a werewolf, that plan was out the window. So now, he knew they knew. If they knew, why not try to make the best of the situation? He feels he alone is keeping the family together and desperately wants to find Silas and end the nightmare. So, he shows Laura Max’s transformation, and shows max the recording of that. He’s trying to get them on his side. He gives Laura the poem which holds the information of the werewolves: the infectious bite, shunning of water etc. (Meaning Laura now knows, if she kills the werewolf who bit max, he’ll be cured) But, travis doesn’t tell them about Chris being the werewolf in the bunker. Travis doesn’t want to put a giant target on his brothers back, so he comes up with a lie about "not being able to kill the wolf, cuz he was trying to protect them". This seems to work somewhat, so he gives her the offer of hunting the head werewolf (I’m pretty sure the white werewolf *is* mentioned in the poem, so technically she does know about it, and since she didn’t know then that Chris was the one who bit max, finding Silas seemed like her best shot at curing max). She considers it, although max doesn’t trust travis and thinks they can’t believe what he says (after all, he had kept them locked up for 2 months). It seems like Laura’s going to take Travis up on the offer, but then Chris shows up. She overhears their conversation and figures out that Chris is the werewolf responsible for turning max. Well hallelujah, there’s their ticket. Why waste time on finding the head wolf that’s already long gone, that they may never find, when Chris is right there? Sure it’s sort of immoral, but she loves her boyfriend and wants to help him. If she needs to kill someone then so be it (in game, when talking to Ryan, she seems he’ll bent on ending Max’s cure that night. She REALLY didn’t want to be stuck until the next full moon). Travis doesn’t know they heard his conversation, so he’s non the wiser to their plan of killing Chris. So, they trick travis and escape the station. Now, when at the camp, she’s trying to find him. Travis never has a chance to try and talk her down. Even if he did, how would he convince her? "Hey, please don’t shoot my brother. I know you both have a future planned together and want to cure max ASAP and shooting my brother now would achieve that, but why not /not/ do that, and instead help us hunt the head wolf that we haven’t seen for 6 years and have no real proof of his existence?" I don’t think it’s very convincing and Ma probably wouldn’t want that either. Laura killed her sweet Kaylee after all. Ma would probably be very hostile towards her, so Laura really wouldn’t have much of a reason to trust travis. I think the game could have been better, and maybe certain plot points should have been explained clearer (and all in all the lack of communication from the hacketts is very infuriating, especially since there’s no real reason for it. I think the story should have been thoroughly analysed to prevent plot holes and unclear motives, like for an example; why the fuck they would run a summer camp near their hunting grounds and for what reason they thought it would be a good idea to end camp on the day of the full moon? (Also the fact that camp was 2 months long: meaning that there should have been a full moon in the middle of camp, which makes 0 sense (it’s even seen when Laura and max are locked up at the police station))) But I certainly enjoyed it and this particular part of the story doesn’t really bother me. Sure it could’ve been explained better, but when you think about it, it does make sense.

In the poem he did tell her that it started from the “white wolf”, however Laura seems to be so angry towards Chris and Travis that she only hears that if the wear wolf who infected the individual dies, the individual is cured. I don’t know where laura got the idea that Chris was the first werewolf Honestly if everyone just listened to the Travis and Chris Hackett much of this could have been avoided.

Honestly their story couldve made for a really kickass movie: one where the main couple is a werewolf and a werewolf slayer trying to save him, maybe have a scene or two where she has to fight him or he has to hold himself back, and a scene where he fights another werewolf to save her, etc

You can see Max and Laura if you pick the choice where Max leaves the island. Its riskier and can get him killed but he can survive it and they reunite there.

I was really expecting interviews like in Until Dawn where they explained the evidence to the police, and then you would get a different post credit scene depending on if you found enough/“good” evidence.

But it is better to not cut his hand since he doesn't put anyone at risk with his transformation. But did you notice on the last scene where they show he survived that he has now almost no arm? Mentioned at the start that ryan looked up to him because he was having family issues as he didn't have his parents and thus saw chris as a father figure (we can easily assume - though he does have his grandparents) - moreover he has gone to the camp many times and has spent time with chris's kids again as mentioned at the very begin of the game - from what we can understand the camp is the only real escape ryan has from his home life

For some reason i feel like ryan knew an element of the truth but didnt want to say anything because he never had proof

Same! They lit just look like they 'repainted' the Wendigos. They didn't even look remotely wolfy... Incredily bizarre to me. They could've just made up some creatures and it would've been more interesting, really. That sort of broke the immersion for me whenever I saw the creatures... I was like, 'is this werewolves...?' Maybe they just didn't want to animate fur or something? Even so, give 'em a snout or something with some crazy fangs, idk.

Jacob and Emma were victims of the determinant fate. Early deaths mean less content. Nick is even worse, literally just gone for 90% of the game and only one possible death. After Laura is brought back, the rest of the game is dropped entirely. It’s like if once The Stranger showed up in Until Dawn, he became the main character and brought Chris along and they were the only people who mattered.

Bobby really feels like Lenny from of mice and men. He’s very strong but kind of naive with the whole “ow you stabbed me” thing. Like… he just seems like he’s not all there. And the overalls he’s wearing also make a good reference to Lenny too.

Bobby wasn't the only one with an opportunity to talk to them though... but the biggest plot hole for me is the family having electrified cages, but they don't turn inside of it

If I had to guess I think he has a developmental disorder or at least is a very big stupid idiot like the horror movie stereotype of “ very big strong guy who acts very “childish”/isn’t very well socialized”

I really wonder how he became a werewolf. Was he born a werewolf? Was he bitten by yet another werewolf that’s still out there? Or did did his witch mother curse him for freakshow purposes? How bad a mother was she really? The Hacket kids broke him out of his cage just before he turned werewolf so there is nothing to suggest that she kept him in that cage all the time. For all we know she could have been locking him in that cage only on nights with a full moon to keep him and the rest if the world safe. But using him for a freakshow did not exactly deserve the award for best mother of the year

At the end I felt bad for Jacob. He must, Canon wise, feel terrible guilt for what he did. If you killed any player imagine how low he would feel realizing he wanted one last night with Emma got people killed Fuchs you up. Could only imagine if had a game play where Emma dies dude would loose his it permanently I woukd assume. Also any of his deaths are sad, either drowns in the lake if you get him stuck, mauled by any of the werewolves, turns into a werewolf himself, or do the bear trap chioce wrong and he goes head first into the trap next to him. Or lives and cries in the woods till the sun comes up.

I said the dude was a pansy from the very beginning lol.

That had potential for some cool dramatic moments, like a chase scene where you have the option to shoot him with silver, but you need to make some difficult choices to escape without killing him.

rewatched the series because i love it and i am STILL pissed when travis, even at the end, has the GALL to talk ill about eliza as if the way she handled and cared for silas wasn't obviously the best choice with the circumstances she has. like it makes sense for that thought process beforehand, like when kaylee is "freeing" him but not after you know all that he does for as long as he did.

Clearly there were two months where they transformed and didn’t hurt anyone. Or inversely putting the counsellors on the island would have the same effect.
