Asus's "apology" is exactly like when an a-hole says, "I'm sorry... your precious little feels got hurt." I've hated their terrible motherboards for years, maybe now people will listen when I say Asus is garbage. From now on I'm making my own motherboards!

Me too! Had more Asus mobo's fail than Gigabyte or Asrock over a ten year period. I recently had a Gigabyte board fail on me. First time that ever happened. It was two years old. I built a cheap Debian server/NAS with a Asrock board that lasted 7 years and it was up 24/7 the whole time. I'm pretty sure a nasty power surge took it out, along with a laptop I had. I had three (all of them) Asus boards fail over the last ten years, they last about 16 months, that's it. I've never tried other manufactures boards so I'm not commenting on those. I build a lot of computers, I give them away to friends and family when I get something new.

That stick drift you're noticing is inconsequential. Stop looking at the calibration. Also, replacement sticks are like $8 and can be replaced in minutes. It literally uses the same joysticks as the Nintendo Switch. They're going to drift if you use it A LOT but likely won't ever affect your gameplay. It's only a problem if you've got OCD.

Can't you replace them with the new style of analogue sticks? I can't remember what they called tho 😂 if not, it might be similar to the switch and all it needs is a 2mm cooling pad underneath, will need something underneath to attach it too, when you push down the bottom component of the analogue and it stops making contact, worth a try if your willing to break warranty, or can fix it without doing so

ASRock are not completely innocent either, AFAIK they are still blacklisting GN & Hardware Unboxed from getting review samples (someone correct me if I'm wrong). Obviously, that pales in comparison to what Asus is doing here but none of these companies are completely trustworthy. That said, it would be very cool to see BIOS-level RGB controls for on/off and colours on all motherboards, especially if it could work with hubs from Corsair, NZXT, etc.

My 1st ever product from them is the XTX Nitro and I'm very happy how I can uv+OC it and keep hot spot around 80°C and fans around 1400-1500rpm under heavy load. Its been quite entertaining to see ASUS hitting the panic button AGAIN, a year after the first fiasco from GN. These companies pretty much never learn. They need to be fined 700m+ and or at minimum 50% of their total gross profit.

I watch the video GN posted after the apologies. Complete BS. They did apologize technically. But in essence, they accuse you (the customer) for not understanding human language and explain that a threat to send back a dismantled good is a "list" of options. So I'm not sure if it's "panic button" or "Tim Cook Button". The famous "You're doing it wrong" and "we know better than you what you want".

They dont learn ,because there are no consequences. Bare in mind that there are only few major OEMs on the market. All of them have done this. MSI was in the hot a few years ago for the same. Gigabite with thier exploding PSUs, physically braking GPUs and mobos (because they are supper thin) , ASUS (where do you want me to start).... Even Asrock was considered the botom of the barrel for most of thier existance. They finaly started making good stuff a few years ago. Think about it , when all OEMs are shit , what you are going to do? You need those stuff ,so you are going to buy it ether way. Thats why their appology is so vague. They know that the backlash will be there for a couple of weeks and the things will go back to "normal".

It's worth pointing out that the RMA process is different in different parts of the world. Here in the UK they definitely could not get away with stuff like this. So yes the companies are doing the bare minimum in their local area, but there should be better consumer protection rights (or maybe better enforced?) in the US & Canada

@DodgyTodger
@DodgyTodger 2 ай бұрын
I don't have too much good to say about the EU, but they do some good work when it comes to consumer protection. You have a 2 year warranty with everything, even if the manufacturer gives a 1 year one. Even after 2 years you are likely to be entitled to redress if you bought something, particularly a high priced item, that has stopped working/broke long before it's expected lifespan. For example, let's say you buy a fancy LS tv without an "extended warranty", It comes with a 1 year warranty, it stops working after 2.5 years... you can claim against the retailer in the small claims court if they don't fix it. You will almost certainly win and the retailer will either be made fix it or give you a certain amount of money towards a new TV
@REgamesplayer
@REgamesplayer 2 ай бұрын
@@DodgyTodger You can't have your cake and eat it too. This is what you expect from EU. As for warranty, it is only covered if you are entitled to it. So, if it fails after 2,5 years. 2 years is basic warranty and then 1 extra from a producer. However, only select few manufacturers provide this warranty. Furthermore, consumer law will only side with you if you are entitled to warranty. Your post falsely appears that you can easily press for an item to be serviced out of warranty.

@@REgamesplayer I literally put in my post that you may need to go to the small claims court !!! how is that easy ? Also, we should not need a EU super state bureaucracy to have basic consumer rights. You should not need the courts to be involved if your TV or Fridge breaks donw after 365 days. "Directive (EU) 2019/771 When shopping in the EU, Norway, or Iceland, you are always entitled to a minimum 2-year guarantee at no cost, regardless of whether you buy the goods online, in a shop, or by mail order. But to my surprise, they replaced the motherboard free of charge and updated the BIOS. It's been working fine for 4 months now. I suspect my problem-free experience was a result of RMAs being handled by a 3rd party repair shop in my country and not by Asus themselves.

I'll never forget that MSI released a BIOS update that bricked their mobos. To be fair, when I told them the model and how I had used their software to update their BIOS on their board, the RMA was approved instantly. Then again, I researched the BIOS version and it had been live for months without a fix. I guess issuing brand new mobos was cheaper than paying someone to fix it.

I haven't had much luck with Asus products, the fan failed on a 2060 and they replaced the card without any issues however it was not the same card I had sent them. The replacement ran way too hot for mining but casual gaming it was fine. I've also had two motherboards that were buggy, one had a power issue and wouldn't restart, you had to pysically remove the power cord and let the power drain out and then plug it back in and that was even with different PSUs.

I've been building PC's since the late '80s. I had to be careful with the ASUS motherboards because they often had bad batches. Back then, I could actually talk to tech support in Fremont. In the last few years, I've given up with ASUS's RMA's, because they never fixed the problem I sent the motherboard in for. Now, if I do buy one, I just throw it away if its defective.

Same deal. Started getting PC parts in about 1990. I've sent many products back to Asus over the decades. Motherboards, monitors, notebooks, whatever. I have literally never had an RMA completed by having a repaired or replacement product returned to me. I've long considered Asus a half step above ECS with a premium reputation that it's never done a single thing to justify. I figure its generally good reputation has really just been marketing. A lot of people are mad at Gigabyte but at least they ship back working products when I RMA something.

Of course it isn't, Asus was already doing "shady" things, idk if shady is the right word for blatantly lying to people's faces. We obviously can't go "Nobody buy anything from a company with a controversy", everyone has had some amount of controversy, but people should 1000% consider those controversies when making a purchasing decision. It is very valuable for them to be made VERY public affairs because now everyone doesn't have to dig through a bunch of possibly bot generated reviews and junk to evaluate the risk you are taking with a purchase.

People need to stop taking what GN says as gospel. Steve has turned that channel into a drama channel with shock content, claiming to be journalism. Most of his talking points about LTT were wrong or already being addressed. He’s about to be proven absurdly wrong with EK because he took the word of a group of disgruntled employees and refuses to talk to any EK senior management about what really happened. I mean, unless you count him secretly show up to LVL UP Expo with the intent of trying to ambush EK into an “interview”. Which completely failed and he had to go home with his tail tucked. But he won’t even mention that he did that because it doesn’t play well into his intentions. Anyone with any critical thinking skills would be best suited to stop watching that drama channel and stick to content without agendas, like Paul’s Hardware.

@@Goochigoop Then you absolutely didn't watch LTT's response video. That video clearly shows that there were definitely things that needed to change in LTT but by and large most of Steve's allegations were either already known and being taken care of or just straight out false, whether due to misinformation or otherwise. I also heard that GN did go to LVL UP with the intent to try and ambush EK at their booth but EK decided to not attend the show because people might actually believe the unsubstantiated allegations Steve put out. In BOTH instances, Steve either did not take the time or flat out said he would not talk to any senior management at either company (ambush attempts aside). THAT is not true journalism. That is, in fact, shock journalism. So, the OP is right.

@@thetazlord You're not wrong. I was at LVL UP and there were some chatter about either Steve or someone from his team was there scouting out EK's booth. I don't know what his team looks like so I can't confirm but if he really did do that, that's a slimeball move. If he really didn't want to talk to anyone at EK until "this issue is taken care of" then he wouldn't have done that. That means he's only in it for the views. I also did some snooping on his channel and you can see his viewership taking a steady decline for the 12 months prior to his LTT video. Then all of a sudden he gets 2 million views in 1 day. Yeah, we can pretty much guarantee this is his new style of "journalism" and he can be removed from the list of reputable tech tubers.

@@ragtop63 I was at LVL UP too and I was hearing the same chatter. I was wondering why EK's was absent for the show because I specifically went there to see them and some other vendors. Asking around and I heard pretty much the same thing you said. I don't watch GN because unless you plan on using stuff in a controlled environment with very specific criteria, their testing has no bearing on real-world usage of hardware. But now that I'm hearing more and more people say the same thing about that attempted ambush, I'm definitely never going to watch their videos. Doing stuff like that while throwing shade at someone else is the same kind of dirty in my book.
